We love our regular 24' Ioniq 5 so far. Quick, quite, plenty of room for our family of 4, 330+ mile range and lvl 2 home charging is so nice. The federal and Colorado tax rebates made it a crazy lease deal too.
I've had my Ioniq5 SEL going on two years/23,000 mi. Best (performance, luxury, utility) car I've ever owned. I expect I will upgrade to an N before I reach the 5 yr/ 60,000 mi warranty. The N fixes the silly instrument cluster format/theme of the SEL and has the far more attractive black bezel.
Really love the look of this model. Exterior design is super cool! Interior is layed out nicely. Hyundai/Kia have really been having a moment with these new models the past couple years.
I was listening to a podcast with Jeff Gucker and Micah and it was weird hearing unfiltered Jeff and Micah. Oh the profanities! And yes the IONIQ 5 N is a great gob of fun!
First - This is the only electric car I would ever consider. Good job, Hyundai. Second - Should I be ashamed that I enjoyed that AI song as much as I did?
Love my Ioniq 5. That thing is tail happy as is, can’t imagine what the N is like. Not crazy about the new center console though, the sliding console I have on the pre updated version is better IMO
They apparently couldn’t put it in with the new structure enhancements and those racing front seats. Also regarding those structural upgrades this car is much different than the standard ioniq 5. This this feels huge when I see it in person but so small on screen. Glad you’re enjoying yours !
@LafemmebearMusic Yeah the reinforcements made to the BIW structure is impressive, that makes sense. It's definitely big but most of it's an optical illusion from the long wheelbase and short overhangs. Externally it's about the same size as a Tucson or any other crossover, but the interior is the size of a Palisade
I love this car, but it's hard to argue the price given that I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the features often enough. I do like the idea of driving it in manual mode by myself as I miss my last manual car.
I remember buying my 2013 Fiat 500T hatchback with 1,200 miles on it for $13K flat, and its still running like a champ with no major issues 11 years later (still on original clutch). Near $68K is too rich for my blood!
4:16 who else winced repeatedly as he forced the motorized charge door down rather than pressing the close button? 😖 It'll also close automatically as soon as you put it in gear or lock the doors.
Yeah. That felt like being on camera brain where you forgot how to close it, but don't want to take a second to think since you are on camera and go with the first thing that pops into your head.
10:55 kiddo needs to be reminded looking out rhe side window suring hard acceleration can increase likelihood of feeling nauseous. Have her try maintain head forward to whichever direction of g-force.
If you don’t have a level 2 charger in your home garage NEVER think about buying this. The range is horrendous so the ability to pump in at least 48kw every night all night in your home garage is mandatory.
The seat looks tired after a few hours use. How does it drive/ interior darken at night? Always a deal breaker having times square spread out in front of tired eyes on the drive home.
I have no idea how i feel about this thing. I like the way it looks, but i own a hyundai product and hate the electronics. That said it is good looking, and they do have some fun configurations, like the paddle shifters, and the way they handle. By me the local road track doesn't allow EV's. Something about fire risks. The down side aside from the gimmick stupid hyundai electronics is the charging time and range. When you buy this, it's a city or station car, since charging is iffy.. and time to charge is still an issue.. so no road trips.. kinda expensive to be a station car when you can get a used Camry for 5k.. which will arguably still be more reliable. i dunno.. i'm still not sold on electric.
The 5N is cool but with only 220 miles of range its a total fail. At 80% charge that’s like 180 miles! They need to up their battery game especially at this high price range !
That seems okay to me. Not great but most of the time it'll be a daily driver and only infrequently may it need to DCFC on a longer road trip. Not only that but if the trip is ~400 miles that should only require one ~20 minute stop. Definitely not terrible given what it is.
You can get closer to 280 miles with the Ioniq 5 SE and SEL that have the smaller tires at a much lower price. The money here is spent on performance which by definition eats up miles quickly. It's a combination commuter car and performance car that you can occasionally road trip stopping every 150 miles to charge for 20 minutes. Most people don't road trip that often or have a different car they can use for road trips.
@@Hdog56-o1f My low fuel light comes on at 75miles range remaining, and a "recharge" takes all of 5 mins with around 200K gas stations spread out throughout the US with multiple pumps per station. Most people say the EPA estimates of electric range are optimistic, so basically you're recharging every 100 miles. If you have a garage and don't mind plugging in every night... not a big deal. If you live in an apartment or have multiple vehicles and park in front of your house big problem.

The best electric car for me.
The misses voice sends me everytime. She would be perfect as a voice actor for animation. This car is amazing, Hyundai is killing it.
It's great car and an amazing EV. I wanted to buy one but currently there's a stop sale on all Ioniq's.

To increase the luggage space (lengthwise), the rear seats can be moved forward and backward. 😉
I’ve been trying to talk my family into an Ioniq 5 because I’ve loved the styling since it came out. Not sure I can afford that $60k N model through.
Great video. Love that Hyundai is bringing the fun.

What’s the big bulge in the rear hatch dividing the lower storage? Do all Ioniq 5s have that, or is it unique to the N model?
It's the subwoofer iirc from other reviews. Few base models don't have it.

Micah may respond but I think saying 85% equates to something like a solid "B" rating for comfort and ergonomics.
