It might be worth adding a page onto your website for sales. It could save you the ebay fees
Aren`t sales on ebay from private persons fee free since 01. of march 2023. Well, at least in Germany. 😊
I know exactly what you mean about "when the doubt sets in" - that's it.
You've did a great job of adapting and evolving your playing around this hurdle, and found out what works better for you now very quickly too - Good on ya!
Cheers for the shout out - so glad you're (still 😜) loving your Jet 😅👍
Cheers mate 👍
Hey Steve you're literally everywhere lol! 👍
@@batphink2655 Ha! You must be too then 😜
the problem is when you sell a guitar to raise some funds but then wish you kept it
That’s why I still have the Washburn A20 and Burman Pro 501 that I bought in 1981………. 😉
This rings so true, I have torn the ligaments in my right hand wrist lifting a heavy vice off the floor awkwardly, plus injured my left thumb opening a jar lid. I am having to re learn playing the guitar and it’s literally painful. Not having a thumb to wrap around the fret board is a nightmare so I totally know where you are coming from.
From north wales
Messed up my left hand opening a gherkin jar
2 days ago.
Not that good of a player but I do enjoy it.
Heat treatment works for me, on the mend.
Will not do that again.
Happy Easter John! Very brave decisions, but I'm sure that they are the right ones for you!
I always imagined if Blondie II might have been a rebound from Blondie I, and ultimately rebounds must end. But I admit, the S2 going did surprise me. My experience with PRS (owned 3 so far) is that I love them to bits up until I don't, the infatuation ends and I'm left to consider that the idea of the PRS is better than the experience. I've had various Fenders and I currently own a Lead II for that Strat tone when I crave it. But I seem to mainly jibe with Gibson, I have several currently and they all get played. Only Gibson I ever sold was a "Norlin Boat Anchor" 1975 LP Custom Cherry Sunburst I dearly loved that a luthier damaged and I sold it back to the original owner, his cousin, for more or less what I paid, $700!
If you've ever been the singer AND guitarist in a band, the volume knob is a great asset. Glad you demonstrated that on the Benton.
I hope you dont live to regret some of your sale choices John, I am in the process of selling a couple of guitars and some camera gear to fund the purchase of a new camera system and its very hard to see old friends go.
I bought a 2004 American standard Telecaster HH in 2012 for about £550, I'd seen them in an old Fender catalogue, and I thought that was something I'd like to own. Then one turned up for sale, I think it was from Cornwall? So I snapped it up. I had the pickups replaced with Seymour Duncan P-rails, and the pots are both push-pull, so I can get four different sounds out of one pickup. I had it refretted at Crimson guitars with stainless steel frets, and it's just a monster of a guitar.
ahhhh the revolving door of guitardom. i think we all sort of understand how that goes, but still it was an interesting video. i have more (nice) guitars than i've ever had before, and there are times when i consider "thinning the herd". so far, i can't bring myself to let go of any of them. also when you said "robson towers" i immediately thought of basil fawlty. that was a great show.
We don't have fish and chip shops here in Slovenia and I could murder a good Edinburgh steak pie supper!
Guitar-wise I can't see me ever selling my Strat - it fits my hand so perfectly and the neck feels gorgeous. As for the Sire H7 it's pretty unlikely but maybe just possible if I found a 335 with a neck as smooth and comfortable as the Strat's. Asking a lot though.
Now that I'm more mobile after the auto-immune disease that wasted my leg muscles for 2 years, I may venture into Ljubljana and see what else is available - I'd like to find out if there's any modern Les Pauls that feel ok to me. 40 years ago I tried a bandmate's goldtop and it felt awful - a heavy lump with a disembodied neck that just didn't feel connected. If they still feel bad then I'll look for something else humbuckery. If I was in the UK I might look at a PRS but no-one imports them here.
Telecasters are the Land Rovers of the guitar world.
PRS the Range Rovers?
awful hard to get over the looks . 🤘
PRS guitars are an enigma to me. Great build quality, tuning stability, versatility, etc. But they just end up sounding and feeling a bit generic to me. Some of that could be addressed I’m sure with a pickup change but they also aren’t cheap, which makes the prospect of spending another $200 or &300 for a different sound a bit daunting. As you found, John, if I didn’t play mine (and I’ve owned several) for a while, when I’d pick it up again my reaction was always “meh,” whereas if I didn’t play my American Tele for a while, my reaction upon returning to it has always been “why the hell don’t I play this guitar every day?”
Totally agree with this. Pay 5 grand to sound like the jingle in an advertisement.
Nobody needs more than one guitar, I mean Telecaster.🤪
Needs? Guitars are not really about need.
I have the 3 major food groups - Les Paul, Strat, and Tele. I seem to use the Tele the most.
@@user-ut7hh3zb2f 62...playing all my life...never bonded with S or T style....never...until recently...12 months or so....now, it's 9 Tele's and 95% of time playing my Tele's....other 12 guitars, all great in their own right and kept for a reason....will have to wait until the Tele fever subsides....even got my first Custom Shop last week, a Tele.....oh my!!! Heck, even my $150 Harley Benton TE52 is a GEM, heavy as crap but still a gem. ....especially with Suhr Classic T pickups in it.
Speak for yourself.
I only need one. One more
Conversely John because of your hand damage which guitar is more “forgiving” for what of a better word
The Les Paul feels probably the most comfortable out of all the guitars since I had my "mishap"
What a versatile PRS!🎸👍
Good video. I never get sentimental about guitars. They are tools to get a job done and when I find a better tool the old one goes. I don't see a need for hoarding guitars, plus someone out there might like it and play it more than I would. We all have different tastes in what we like and what feels good in the hands. I generally always have a Les Paul, Strat, and Tele around and I also love the Ibanez RG-652FX (fixed bridge - awesome neck profile for my taste - love that flat (17") radius). Also for an acoustic I've got a Yamaha FS5 that sounded much better than any other acoustic that I've played in a long time. Cheers P.S. just picked up a 1979 Marshall 2204 JMP head from the UK. It sounds as good as I remember. Hadn't had a Marshall in quite a few years. There's an advantage to living in the country! ;-)
As soon as you told us you had spent all that money on the Jet, I just knew you would sell the Harley!😮
What's your favourite guitar? .....The next one!
What happened to the Gordon Smith GS1.5?
I sold it when I got a signature model. Then that business model didn't work out. The GS went to a good home though.
The Harley Benton guitars are (if the qc is ok and you get a good one) good guitars but kinda feel a bit one dimensional even with pickup upgrade. I'd sell mine in a heartbeat as i just feel a bit meh its ok. But id have to spend money buying some pickups so i can keep the p rails i put in the fusion ii
There’s the doubt and sell stage…..then there’s the future regret stage John, when you see another PRS S2 and remember the good times 😂
Hey John! How about some of the other guitars on your wall (or elsewhere in your procession) that you still have, that we tend not to see too much, that could also be surplus to requirements? Perhaps a video on why they're still around and not being passed on like the HB and PRS? 🎸🎸🙂🙂
I'll give them a bit of attention on the live stream tomorrow, I think
Hiya john...Have you ever owned an s.g?
Yes mate. Back in 2021 I had an Epi SG 👍
@@JRobsonGuitar
Likewise pal...it's probably the best playing guitar I've ever had. I genuinely prefer it to my old Gibson LP studio. And the build quality is bang on 👍
You’re a better man than me GUNGA DIN! I can’t seem to part with some of mine. It’s a sickness!! I’ve not run outta room Mate. 32 guitars and I do have a couple that I really don’t gig with. HELP!! Cheers Dallas
you can tell those videos were old because they were still in black and white.
Out with the old, in with the new.if it eren't taxtime, I'd be all over used Exit 22s Godin- like a Nashville tele with bridge humbucker and 2 single coils. Le sigh.I may have to part with a couple Harley Bentons....
Your PRS was the one that sounded the best to me.
You found a PRS without those overly ornate bird linlays.
H/B.....double Humbuckers! Sweet 🍭 🎸👍
I’ve been craving a large batted sausage and chips for years 🍺👍
I offered my wife a Large sausage! . . . . . . . . .and she Battered me!!!!!!!😔🥹
When my better half asks me why I need so many guitars I tell her that not only are they stunning wall art for my home office but also a much better investment than drinking or gambling. Not sure she is overly convinced though……… 😂
The revolving door of guitars coming and going continues until................... the end of time !! 😛
Any guitarist worth his salt knows it ain't the guitar. It's a beginner/intermediate issue. Not a journeyman's problem.
If you want to sell your Harley Benton´s , I will buy them !
Have you learnt nothing from the Gordon Smith incident, man?
Yeah but, tortoiseshell 😢
Got to love a bit of tort ;-)
Five Telecasters and two Revstars.
25sec ad??? seriously YT? the easiest way to make people dump your services
I have no interest in anything Fender. Gibson SG’s are the tools of choice here.
The fanboy wore off the PRS.
But there might be another on the way. Watch this space 😁

Thank you for the video, John. I am removing my comment because it aged badly.
I am so very sorry. Didn't realise I needed to check with you first before selling something that I bought with my own money. As you say, what a complete monster I must be.
@@JRobsonGuitar Thank you again
Aye like woman😂
What’s going on. Is there a GAS vaccine out there?
Personally I think it's the only decent sounding guitar you had.
One day I feel like playing one guitar & another day a different one electric or acoustic
