- "Stumps" Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms California is the location of this epic and classic video. Taped originally in 2006 and remastered in HQ here. The USMC Marching Band plays their hymn as they march down 29 Palms Highway then at the end an added bonus. The original upload has reached 200,000 views so Ruby decided that it was time to replace it with a high quality version. Enjoy and please share this with everyone, it's worth watching again and again.
When I was in grade school in the 1950's we all used to sing this song in our music class....
Love the nicely executed left turn near the beginning, in step all the way, and perfectly in sync. The drum major's commands using the mace are crisp and well done!
rrclerk68 : These men are who I would consider and not the macho muscle builders! Although, I am sure these are fit and muscular but, not the Terminator kind.
Made this old man cry, it did. God bless every one of these young men, many of whom might, next week, or next year, be fighting and dying on the battlefield for an old wretch like me.
Not these young men - and women btw. They do need to go through basic training but they are full time musicians after that. Many of them are music conservatory grads.
@@phylliscraine ...
Phyllis Craine , they all go through Boot Camp. Every Marine a Rifleman. I think only members of “The President’s Own” in WASH. DC are exempt from Boot Camp.
@@williamsweeney6499 boot camp is basic training but yes I think you are correct President's Own are exempt
@@phylliscraine They HAVE gone through basic training. Therefore, they are 100% U.S. MARINE CORPS ready to FIGHT! Being a band member may be their primary “job” at home but in the battlefield, they are just as capable to fight as any U.S. Marine. Ooh Rah and Semper Fi!
I’m so proud of what I just saw for the first time; the skill and beauty of a Marine Band half stepping, to the Marines Hymn in a turn. All those years in the band field and was never on the outside looking in.
Thank you , MARINES!!
I spent six years in the Army National Guard but I have the highest admiration for the Marines and their traditions. "Semper fi."
I would like to dedicate this video to my grandfather who served in the US Marines. Unfortunately, he passed back in 2017.
That short trumpet player on the end is SSGT Pratt! I served with him in the Albany Marine Band from 2003-2006!
Lauren Baker
So did I. I was in Albany from 1999-2002. Semper Fi.
I have great respect for all of the men and women
I love love love that drum line, just amazing the sound and discipline.
I could listen to that all day! Semper Fi from an old Navy vet!
Thank you for your service to our country.🇺🇸
THEY ARE MY HOMETOWN MARINE BAND SO MAY GOD BLESS THEM ALWAYS!!!
Brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch it. I was stationed at MCB Twentynine Palms both before and after Viet Nam. 9th Comm and HQ Co Force Troops. This is going to be played at the end of my funeral.
This band played at my son's graduation from MCRD, San Diego. Proud of all of them.
probably a different band since there is one at MCRD too .
These guys are insanely sharp. Every step, note, and accent, is just perfect. What a Treat!
So proud of these young folks. They were in sink with each other in marching and played well. Well done Well done!
Love military bands!!! God bless these young men!
Those runs that the clarinets do are SO good. I'm really jealous of how good they are.
Great to watch. Fine playing and precision. From UK.
A man from my home town was in the MC band. Was in the late 80's. I think he's still in the Corps.
Ohh Myyyyyy gosshhh! We are playing this song for our handbell choir for competitions!!!! Wish us luck ;)
God bless AMERICA! Good drumming and thank you for seving Marines

Semper Fidelis Marines Great Job.

Well done men, well done! Thanks
Love my Marines
Love the sound of these drums. Well done Drummers also goes to the band.
I would describe them more as percussionists rather than drummers
Went to 5th grade at 29 Palms . Use to go to sleep listening to the artillery in 1953 !
I like how they played in the streets of the actual 29 Palms city, must’ve been a great show for all 14 people that watched
One of my best assignments said no one ever.
If you were ever there you will never forget the heat sand and snakes. I was there 4 months before deploying to Vietnam with the 2nd light anti aircraft missel battalion in 66
Good balanced sound with well discipled marching. Great corps band!
Love these boys and the way they play.have been in this country 38 beautiful years. Work my ass too. Make no mistake will fight for this country and die too for it. God bless the most. Beautiful country in the world and it's people.

Thank you.
Great performance! Specially from the Drummers, the kicks are set very good! greetings from germany😉
Hallo! Love to Germany from America!
Beautiful!
Veru Good.I LIKE OF THE MILITARY BAND.
Beautiful
They passed right by the liquor store we used to go to in 1966!! Surprised to see it still there.... Well not really as long as Marines are around you still need a liquor store. What a place. You worked from 4am to noon and that was the end of your day because it would be between 125 - 135 degrees outside. It was my first duty station then off to Vietnam. Great preparation for a jungle environment huh.
I dug the left form or left wheel followed by patrol step until the next strain when quick march was effected from the mace and musically. I have done many a gig with my USA brothers in arms over 40 years as an Ozzy bandsman. This size band ( blank files hopefully representing members on leave, or on course ) ROCKS. All the best from downunder devil dog.
OO-RAH! MARINE CORPS!!
Semper Fi, and thank you Marines, active and Veterans, for your service and dedication.
Blessings to you always.
Be sweet!
Daisy Mae
So you mean to tell me any one of those musicians can pick up a M16 and drop me at 600 yards.
zakattack1945 That's right. The fact of the matter is that all Marines are, first and foremost, Grunts--warriors. Their MOS is their second priority. Their primary training is as a warrior. That includes hand-to-hand combat training and weapons training. So, I have no doubt that any of the musicians in the Marine Corps band could potentially drop you at 600 yards.
daisymaescragg
Yeah..... Good musicians + rifleman = Other marching bands scared.
Awesome, Job Well Done!!
may you rest in peace Master Gunnery SGT. William H. Del Carmen 29 Palms...OUR UNCLE!...At Ease Marine....SEMPER FIDELIS

Was Army myself, but I can never watch a Marine video and wonder...why I didn't join them!
Outstanding...
Rather bravour music. Thank you
God bless this Country!!!
My wife used to love the canteens bouncing off the hips...Don't know why...
Sometimes it's hard to believe that I reported to 29 Palms on May 7, 1993. I had just graduated from Motor T school in Camp Del Mar in Camp Pendleton. The last year motor T school was there before it was moved to Camp Lejeune. Doesn't seem that long ago. 1st Tanks, H&S Co.
Good playing, good walking, good to see !
The drummers and cymbal player free styling at the end was awesome. I am sure it wasn’t totally free styling but still awesome!!
My son is USAF, 16 years, I love are Military, all for one, and all for all.

Twenty five year Navy vet salutes our United States Marine Corps and honors the 242nd Birthday of the Marine Corps coming up on November 10th 2017.
Love It!

Well done boys!
I was stationed there twice, both before and after Viet Nam. My youngest daughter was born there. Semper Fi and Ooh Rah!

Mehr geht nicht. USMC, THE BEST. Thank you for your service. Forever.
Anyone know where the band hall was in MCAGCC?
After all the years and deployments to Vietnam and other countries I proudly call
Myself a RECON MARINE.
so cool

Good drummers! Bravo
i have to play this song in band. Thanks to all the Marines who serve us
You don't HAVE to. You GET to.
A marine never wins things. They earn things, or they are awarded things. Honor, and victory are earned. God bless the USMC! OOH RAH!
Is there a name for the sequence the snares play between the Hymn?
Their may be groups better, maybe certain corps, but the committment and confidence in them is second to none. God Bless the Marines!
The one with the scepter gets me every time! XD
good job on that. semper.
I'm curious, is what the percussion alone at the end what they play while marching? It sure sounds like it could be.

i just can't help wondering if the staff nco with the trumpet knew how hard a job it was to be in that position in the USN and USMC. i did.
