    I really liked wanda as a villain. She feels more personal than any other villains so far. What she wants is not something big, only something she could never have in her life. She doesn't want to change the world, or kill everyone who she doesn't like, she just wants a loving family. People tend to forget, how deeply wounded she is. She grew being helpless against others' oppression, and so she got experimented on. She tried to use her power just to find out, that all her anger was unjust and were pointless. Then right after joining the avengers, she got her brother killed. Who she grew up with and loved, her only family. Then she fell in love with vision, but she had to kill him by her own hands. She had it rough. No wonder, that all this grief, plus the negative power of the book is now making her do all those things.
    I also liked, that even after she told strange, that to some extent it was his fault that vision had to die, she wasn't particularly angry at him. She has no personal vendetta against him.
    Even defeating her were not done by killing her, rather making her realise the error of her actions.

      Yea I don't want to justify her actions but the amount of grief she suffered that she BARELY even coped in was the focal point of the corruption from the Darkhold, it made her greedy and deluded to get her kids.

      In the original comics, Wanda and Quicksilver were Magneto's estranged children from the X-Men series, so it explains why she was occasionally morally ambiguous--It runs in the family.
      Here, it felt like the actress went through WandaVision thinking she was the "maternally persecuted" heroine of a Lifetime movie, but managed to give the line "I'm not a monster...I'm a mother" the irony it needed.

    A lot of people didn’t like how Wanda was evil but MCU is following the comics where the Illumaniti are very unfair to her. In the comics, Dr Strange asks Charles Xavier as to why they couldn’t just let Wanda have her children but he straight up refused. He didn’t really give an explanation besides it not being right. In the comics, it’s more so the manipulation she faces at the hands of her father, being separated from Vision as he is still alive there and her children’s demise is what pushes her to the edge. And of course the Darkhold. Like how we get a bit of the lore about the Scarlett Witch in the movie but if anyone who’s a fan of comics they know how much there is to the Scarlett Witch. Especially The House of M Storyline… really hope we get to see that. It will be beyond Avengers Endgame or Infinity War level even.

      I think she subconciously saved herself at the end of the movie, but also partially removed her memory, to be able to live with herself somewhere new. I assume she will be back when mutants come around. It would be perfect plot for Magneto to be manipulating Wanda into believing he is her father (he may also well be, despite comic retcon), to suit his needs of mutants becoming dominant race (and thats exactly what Scarlet Witch does in House of M). So he manipulates her to fulfill his goal of mutantkind being dominant race and he offers back her family in return, himself and Pietro included. It would be poetic. In Wandavision she revives her husband wanting to live with him, in MoM its her children. In next movie it may be Magneto and Pietro, her first family? Then, in the end, when she finds out what Magneto is about, or when someone gets to her and tells her (oh how good it would be if it would be Hawkeye, considering their relationship in mcu vs their relationship and that scene in house of M in comics between them, what a parrarel that would be!) - she may finally say - "No more mutants". Its all there. They set it up perfectly for house of M to occur in the future!

    • @kptmaci4979
      @kptmaci4979 2 роки тому +2

      @@watdaforkman4436 I think if they choose to go the comic route, thats the safest option to bet. 1 - Magneto was her father for decades in the comics 2 - its certain they will want to adapt House of M and Childrens Crusade at some point, Wandavision and Multivese of Madness were perfect set-ups for House of M, and House of M is working as a setup for Childrens Crusade, when Wanda finally finds peace, as her children do exist in her universe, just with different famillies (Speed and Wiccan from young avengers - who are already introduced in mcu - Billy and Tommy). So of course, when they introduce mutants and Magneto, then Magneto has major role in House of M, by manipulating Wanda along with Pietro (its Pietro actually, but they can change it to Magneto, as Pietro is dead in mcu). And it would be perfect way to bring Wanda back from the dead, as Magneto's motive will be pretty obvious, when he will be manipulating her - he wants mutants to rule the world and she can make it happen with just few words and she is unstable mentally, so easy to manipulate. Magneto can pretend that he cares for her, only in the end to all of it backfire on him and Wanda will make world mutantless with words 'no more mutants' as she will feel betrayed by a mutant - Magneto. Then she is free to go on Childrens Crusade, maybe even Phoenix Five in the future? Who knows? I trust marvel, I hope they are geeks like we are and see the perfect set ups as well. We just have to wait and see if they implement it for emotional damage to viewers xd Nothing hits more than family drama and Wanda has a lot of that.

    This is one of my personal fav mcu films because of the fact it’s a gruesome and kinda a horror film but in the mcu. Sam Raimi did an amazing job with this movie and I absolutely loved this movie I’ve seen it 3 times and I’ll never understand the negative complaints of this film. Also love that Sam Raimi made Wanda is basically a horror icon cause I loved her as the villain.

    • @davidp3837
      @davidp3837 2 роки тому +1

      The main complaint I have with this movie is that it's a direct follow-up to WandaVision which Sam Raimi has admitted he's never seen. I like a lot of the direction he brought to it but it feels like he and the writing team threw Wanda's entire character arc from that series into the garbage and decided to do whatever they wanted with her character and justify it with "evil book = villain". I actually really like it otherwise but I hope that's a criticism that makes sense.

    • @y0y010
      @y0y010 2 роки тому +2

      @@davidp3837 Well Sam Raimi said that he watched only important parts of Wandavision. If not, then how the hell could he and Michael Waldron progress with her character arc? Don't forget that Kevin Feige also knew and may have had ideas of making Wanda a villain because of her compelling motive and deep emotional trauma. It was amazing to see her transition into this villainous form and not the typical good guy remaining good despite being bereft of every ounce of joy and comfort because this would not happen. Everyone needs to have somebody to look up to in times of crisis. Just like Thor had Valkyrie and GOTG while Spiderman might be the exception but he can easily try to befriend his friends/girlfriend again. While Wanda literally had no one to look up to in times of emotional distress. No parents, no siblings, no close friends(Hawkeye got busy in his own world), no children, no life partner, NOTHING..... It's still one of the most artistic/creative and crazy Marvel movies I've ever seen.

    The reason why Wanda has a whole throne room is because the Darkhold was made by the elder god Cthon. He is the same god who made Wanda in the comics and gave her powers. She is a nexus being so she exists in every universe and she has the Destiny to either rule or destroy the multiverse. There is a comic that recently came out where Wanda is now controlling Cthon and using his powers which are hella powerful.
    Also how Wanda was able to kill captain marvel is because Wanda absorbed her powers and without her powers she is vulnerable so Wanda just crushed her w the statue.

However, just like Wanda she realized in the end that she did become a monster. Not by her powers or by her trauma, but by her choices that she made with them. Like I said, Wanda is not a villain; she’s just a desperate woman who wants to be happy again and just needs the guidance. 😰💔❤️‍🩹

    I might be weird, but I still don't see Wanda as a "Villain". In my opinion this (and Wandavision) is an extreme reaction to repressed and untreated trauma. She lost her parents, then her brother, then she was forced to kill the man she loved. And all anyone cares about is that Tony Stark died. Then - after seeing his corpse being mutilated - she had a psychotic break and lashed out in Westview. Her children were a physical manifestation of her loss and grief. And literally no one has shown her an ounce of compassion or caring. And she has the power to reshape the universe. So why the hell wouldn't she?

    Wanda was always born with powers. Though it’s interesting that the Wanda she took over doesn’t even have her powers amplified like our Wanda but was still able to defeat the illumanati. Wanda is being reasonable throughout the entire movie by using just 10 to 20% of her power 💀
    Note when that Wanda returns and whispers about her boys, she stumbles a bit while getting up to the door showing how she focused on getting a family rather then on her powers so she’s not as trained with them
    Also Wanda tried to bring her boys back after Westview but couldn’t. So she turned to the Dark hold for a more permanent spell and of course to understand her powers but Agatha failed to mention how much the Darkhold corrupts everything and everyone it touches.
    So her grief, anger and trauma were already too much to handle. Put the most powerful and evil spell book and you got yourself a Scarlett Witch willing to do anything to get what she wants

    One of my favorite MCU movies. Love that they made Wanda the villain of this movie and her motivations are really relatable to any person/parent. It makes sense that she would try at any cost to be with her children again and to live a life where she's actually happy. Plus we see that if really wanted to she could of taken over the whole multi verse like it was prophesied by she only wanted her to be with her children which shows that deep down she's a good person but the route she's taking is obviously not a good one. Professor Charles line fits perfectly to Wanda "just because someone stumbles and loses their way doesn't mean they're lost forever."
    Her line of "waking up to the same nightmare" completely shows her mindset and that she'll do anything to have her kids back and be happy again. The life she's lived up to this point as been mostly negative filled with trauma and death. She loses her parents in a bombing, she undergoes experiments (although voluntarily) by HYDRA, she loses her bother (last of her family), she gets a new family with Vision and then is forced to kill him in Infinity War which turned out to be futile. Then she gets Blipped, only to find out what's happened to Vision's body and the grief that he bought a piece of land for them to grow old together sends her over the edge. Then she has to lose her new family all over AGAIN in Westview. Then she gets the Darkhold which shows your deepest desire and how to achieve it which leads us to this moment.

This is especially true when she embraces her terrifying alter ego as the Scarlet Witch." People are surprise that Wanda is so strong but She's one of the most powerful charactere in the MCU

    In comics Wanda got her powers (eventually becomes Scarlett Witch) when she was an infant born at "Mount Wundagore" (Transia, eastern Europe) and was touched by Demon Chthon (former Elder God about 1 Billion years ago and wrote the "Darkhold" at Mount Wundagore) to mark her as his pottential next vessel for the future.
    Many Marvel fans are already familar with the Darkhold on screen because it featured in "Agents of Shield Season 4" for the entire season long before being featured in WandaVision!

The Professor X of Earth-838 is inspired visually by the 1990s version with his classic yellow hover chair and green suit with elements drawn from the Fox X-Men movies such as Sir Patrick Stewart playing the character and quoting a line from Days of Future Past.

    In comics, Clea comes from the dark dimension...Dormammu is her maternal uncle...she became the disciple of Stephan Strange and and later also bacome ruler of the Dark Dimension...they also fall in love and get married...Hence her full name is Clea Strange...After a certain events...Stephan Strange is about to die and just prior to his death, he passes on the Eye of Agamotto and the Cloak of Levitation to Clea making her the new Sorcerer Supreme.

    I was actually happy they made Wanda the villain. I agree with others she is a victim, but Wanda in the comics tends to be in a tumble of good and evil which she is chaotic witch so makes since. However, Disney keeps taking villains and making them anti-heroes instead- Cruella, for example. Take Magneto a victim of World War II, a trauma victim of an event that was unspeakable and while his actions afterwards are understandable and the events happening around mutants are similar. The way Magneto does things is more villainous than heroic. While we do see that Wanda has gone through traumatic events, needs a therapists or someone to talk to, her actions arent excused and she can not run from the consequences of her actions. Why I guarantee you that if she hadn’t killed herself (not believing she is dead till i see a body) Wolverine would’ve jumped from his Xaiver’s universe to this one as well as Medusa from Blackbolt’s universe and hunted her down.

    This was an *amazing* film, & I loved every minute of watching it - there were just a few small details that were key to the plot that I wish they handled differently tbh.
    1) I wish they had made it more obvious that the Darkhold was influencing Wanda's actions (9:40 33:08 38:58), to explain why she went on a killing spree (13:30 25:13 25:55 26:31 28:05) instead of asking for help/ finding other solutions (11:37 14:52).
    I love when a film goes for 'show' instead of 'tell', but they maybe should've used more dialogue to make it abundantly clear - they did such a great job at making Wanda a villain that it seems like many ppl didn't understand *how much* the Darkhold was corrupting her (many ppl thought they ruined her character arc from WandaVision).
    2) I don't like the new rule/ lore that said *all* dreams are visions of the multiverse (6:55 7:44 14:44 16:18) - it doesn't explain things like recurring dreams/ flashbacks (i.e. Bucky's/ Tony's PTSD nightmares), & it ruins potential future stories (like the villain Nightmare & the Dream Dimension), etc.
