Looks REALLY good. But i think you're missing the roughness. The rusty part should be more rough. Thanks alot for making this tutorial. I think i'm gonna use it for the base of my rusty metal material 👍🏽
I’ve been using Blender for modelling for just over a year, but have still yet to really get my head around nodes and materials, so this kind of tutorial is excellent….thanks once again!
Like, ridiculously better. I swear him, Grant, and Stache are the only blender tutorial/demo artists who take the time to actually explain the steps and why they are doing them vs the guys who are rushing to hit that 10 min mark.
Deserves a big big big like !!! That's a perfect video, kinda long to come to the point but I guess that's perfect for the beginners too. I'm gonna push this forward so much as soon as my ongoing rendering is ended ^^'
One good addition would be to reduce the metalness, roughness and sepcularity of the corrosion since it behaves more like a matte diffuse material in real life.
Good point - this is something I'd want to play around with more. I would assume we could use the color ramp nodes like a roughness/metalness map somehow
@@TheCGEssentials i have been trying to make rusty old plane for a while and your video and tutorial have really helped me understand how node works ty (:
Hi everyone! Let me know what you think about the procedural rust shader in the comments below! :)
very cool !!

Happy to help!
That is a lot easier than some of the other tutorials out there!
Glad it helped!

Glad to hear it!
This is great!

I love it it was so fun 😍
Thanks!
You opened to me a new world! I don't know why I always use the bump normal input with normal? Ah rust... is the art of nature... have a great W.E.!
Thanks - these shaders are really fun :)
@@TheCGEssentials yes the shader system in blender is highest quality, very intuitive and is as much creative as is forgiving.
Brilliant, thanks
thanks!!! was very helpful
Thanks teacher!
You are welcome!
Damnnnn!!! Thank you
This could be the same for a dirt shader with a few tweaks ? thanks for the awesome content as always
Yep for sure!

Thank you!
YARS... Yet Another Rust Shader. Thanks.
Poosti. You.
👌👌👌💥💥 Great sir
:)
I’ve been trying to create flaky rust and peeling paint without any success. I wonder if you have any suggestions.
Why can I export the object to fbx with this shader? I need help
Left and right??
Meh - rough morning :) - I assume everyone is capable of moving a slider left and right and seeing what it does based on the info given
cool
:)
WHY don't I have "Roughness" on my "Noise Texture" node? As well as some other nodes I use? I'm using version 2.82.7
probably why . blender is on 3.2 xD
@@sougataghar1179 I know but I'm not 100% sure that's the reason either. I also have node wrangler enabled but it doesn't seem to work.
Generally speaking if the nodes look different and you're using an older version like that, that's probably why
