In episode 1 of my archery vlog, I pay a visit to the awesome guys Josh and Joe of RamRods Archery. We combine overall feel and supporting data from the Mantis X8 Archery Training System as a more precise approach to setting up a hunting bow with stabilizers. This is, by no means, a detail instructional video but there is some good info being passed on from Josh about bow stabilization and what to look for. I do have a video that is little more detailed in the process that you can see below:

We are going to be working on another video in a more detailed and instructional format, so stay tuned for that!

What’s the point of using the mantis?

I didn’t go into detail in this video but will do a more in-depth how-to later. For stabilizer setup, we look at 3 points of information. The first one is what my pin float is doing. The Mantis tracks my movement as I’m trying to hold it steady in the center of the target. It was something that only I, as the shooter, was able to see but since we have a way to visually record it, we could easily go back and look at exactly what went on. The next one is the stability score, though this isn’t as important as other points of data. My personal goal is to keep my stability score above 92%. If it consistently drops below that, we’d need to see if that’s due to my bad technique or we need to make larger incremental adjustments. The last point of data we look at is the degree of cant on my bow, which I didn’t show in this video but wish I did. The Mantis let’s us know how bad the cant is and if it is trending to one side. It was consistently canted to the right due to the extra weight of the arrows and sight being on the right side. I personally like to keep my bow neutral so if it shows that my bow has 0 degrees of cant, then we’ve achieved the correct balance with the weight, angle and length of the back stabilizer. Hope that made sense. Check out this video here that we filmed last year that goes into a little more detail and is a lot shorter than this video. Thanks for watching! ua-cam.com/video/YDL0wjv90cQ/v-deo.htmlsi=-lC_xriw-diUmEQV
