As someone who bought the X-T50 from you guys (thank you!), I can see the appeal of this camera. I actually really love the film simulation dial, and having it on such a compact entry-level camera makes a whole lot of sense. I know I’d definitely miss the EVF (I use it quite a lot on the X-T50), but seeing as this is more of a vlogging camera, it makes sense that they didn’t include one. And it looks super cute, too! It’ll be interesting to see it in person and see how it handles when it arrives in November!
Ugh. This, but with a viewfinder and IBIS! If it had had one, I'd have seriously considered switching from MFT. What I really want is a new, slightly more capable GM5, GX9 or PEN-F, but no one seems to be listening 😔
@@krugerdave I highly recommend the X-T50. I have one, and it’s basically this camera but with an EVF and IBIS. It’s such a powerful, compact beast of a camera. (It doesn’t have the flippy screen or the dedicated vlog mode, so if you have to have those, go X-S20).
Good suggestions, but I'm a really big fan of rangefinder style bodies. I don't get why there's still such a slavish devotion to having the viewfinder in line with the lens in the era is EVFs. It made sense when you had a pentaprism and mirror in your SLR, but nowadays we have the technology to avoid getting greasy nose prints all over the back of the camera 🤢 If no one builds the compact rangefinder that I want, I'll probably just have to suck it up and get something from Olympus, since I really like the size and open platform of MFT. Shame though, because Fujifilm does make some beautiful cameras! (And Panasonic make astonishingly ugly ones, IMO)
Fujifilm need to make some small, pancake lenses. As soon as you put on any fujifilm lens, apart from the 27mm, it's far from compact. No ibis to keep it compact? The Ricoh GRIIIX is a TRUE compact WITH IBIS. What's the point in making a vlogging camera if the footage is shaky? Low resolution Lcd. Photography wise, it offers no more than my 10 year old Samsung nx500. Bit of a let down.
I like the size and looks like a nice camera to use, but no IBIS and no EVF is a dealbreaker for me. But I have grey hairs in my beard, so that should surprise no one.
My first opinion was nope. Not for me. No EVF, No IBIS, and poor LCD. But then I started thinking...I already have an X-T5 for photos, but for video this COULD BE a good replacement for my Sony ZV-1. I'll reserve judgement until I get it in hand.
Thank you. You’re probably right that viewfinders are a generational thing, with their absence normalized by the smartphone experience. However, the inability to look closely at a scene or shoot with a stable handhold against your eye is a very real loss.
That screw thats not straight in the middle is gonna make vloggers crazy....why did fujifilm do this...such a bad engineering decision...i honesty thought you could maybe use a slim profile arca swiss plate...but thats not gonna do...
Yes, tech brands always "seed" samples to reviewers before the embargo, and then when the embargo lifts for new cameras or other tech products, they all "drop" simultaneously.
They have an extremely confusing naming and range, X100, XM, XE, XA, XT, XH, XS. There is no sence of creating several camera using same sensors. They are just trying to be in the market with new name and body but they are not addressing the worst focusing system on the market. Fuji it's high time invest on better autofocus rather than launching confusing models at such expensive price. Fuji does not deserve such high price only for film sims as the af is worst on the market.

For a vlogging camera, please provide 1) IBIS 2) weather sealing 3) bight enough LCD panel during daylight 4) Mic & earphone ports.

It has earphone and microphone sockets

Based on what you said would the xt50 be your ideal if it didn't have the bump on top?
…then the X-S20 or the X-T50 is for you…

X-E4 is also out, of course, because no IBIS. I also like physical controls, so no X-E4 and no Tesla for me 😅
This camera is very compact, I would love to buy it.
I would but so far nobody is indicating it is waterproof
Does the X-M5 have in camera time lapse processing capabilities like the XA5 and XA7? ❤
Hello! What is the body made of? Plastic? Aluminium? (both in black or silver).
It seems noone tells it!
X-M line has been around since 2013 so not much of a "departure". I'm still rocking an X-A1 and will never get rid of it
Is the video 10bit?
So, theres no ibis,.. can the ois lenses help?

Hi everyone, would anyone know why the 'film simulation dial' on my x-m5 is not working?
I guess this is an x70 successor, with changeable lens.
More eager to see the m43 responses to this Om Pen-F II, Panasonic G9XII...
Does it have USB-C/webcam capabilities?

That film simulation dial makes absolutely no sense. No one changes the film simulation so often to need a special dial for it.
Thank you. You’re probably right that viewfinders are a generational thing, with their absence normalized by the smartphone experience. However, the inability to look closely at a scene or shoot with a stable handhold against your eye is a very real loss.
When there is no EVF we need to know the specs of the LCD screen.
It's a 3" 1,040,000 Dot LCD Screen.
Good ❤
A panasonic gh7 this size fir $1299 with 20 60;lens
This is a wow for me bcoz of film sim/PASM dials and portability, open gate for video is cool too 😎
"almost pocketable"
They had to remove the EVF because the mic cable connector would poke your eye out.
Pour moi c’est le successeur du X70 (avec le pancake 27 mm) .
Je vais le prendre juste pour cela! La vidéo ne m’intéresse pas. Merci.

Every tech blogger reviewing it simultaneously. Pure marketing going on.

I don't like it, I want a pocketable weathersealed camera, around the size of the Canon g7x
