- Members of the Jacksonville Brotherhood of Police Officers and local pastors said they still have concerns about the punishment for a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office sergeant who admitted to posting racist messages on social media.
This is a prime example of why the general public does not trust law enforcement
Its a prime example of the FACT that the general public cant trust police. They dont enforce "laws" they enforce city, state and town "codes" designed to produce revenue for their own and the politician raises. Police have NOTHING to do with "law".

The reason he received the punishment he did was because other police officers were reprimanded for the same thing and received that level of punishment. It's so common now that you hear a person of color say things construed as "racism" and it gets reported. Most often the punishment is a slap on the wrist. Well, it would be double standards if a white police officer does the same thing and their punishment would be more severe. Two options, either stop saying racists remarks all together or continue the status quo. Slap on the wrist.

JSO should be ashamed. It has always been the understanding that police officers should be above reproach. This is so confusing. If any individual applied for a job at any law enforcement agency, a complete and extensive background investigation is performed on the applicant. If for some reason the applicant's past substantiates and reveals racist remarks and actions that clearly proves bias towards a group of individuals, the law enforcement agency would most definitely remove that individual from the recruiting process. How can you be a police officer with hate in your heart for the people you swore to protect? Basically, this officer would be a liability for any city, county or state law enforcement agency. As the saying goes... a Leper doesn't change its spots. He's a ticking multi-million dollar police lawsuit waiting to happen.
