- On October 21, 2005, he became the sole recipient of all five first prizes at the 15th International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, taking First Prize and the polonaise, mazurka, sonata, and concerto prizes. According to ABC News, one of the judges, Professor Piotr Paleczny, said that Blechacz "So outclassed the remaining finalists that no second prize could actually be awarded." Another judge, the distinguished Irish pianist John O'Conor, said "He is one of the greatest artists I have had a chance to hear in my entire life".
Here is a summary of the awards ceremony, and a special edition of the Polonaise N ° 6.
It's really a magnificent performance worthy of a virtuoso...
Genialny pianista, wirtuoz i wielki mistrz. Brawo Rafał Blechacz.
His dynamics, the crescendos and decrescendos, are superb. Never heard anyone pay so much attention to the gradual increase and decrease of volume as he does and it with such ease. I love Chopin and Rafal does him proud. Bravo, Rafal, Bravo!!!
Pan Rafał Blechacz to geniusz z Polski.
Naprawdę?
Co ty nie powiesz?
A ty masz pewnie udział w jego genialności?😀
The finest playing of this work that I have yet heard.

上品で清らか、みずみずしい、躍動感あふれる、♥素晴らしい演奏です。
彼はきっとショパンの生まれ変わりですね。
何回聴いても、涙がでて、感動します。心が洗われます。
Both his interpretation and technique are nothing less than perfect - a fantastic performance!
He is perfect in so many ways 😊😊
Wong Winnie cute and handsome too 🤣🤣😝
Handsome, humble, extremely good pianist, phd of philisophy, very inteligent and interesting
Yeah
Rafal Blechacz winner of the Chopin Competiton 2005,won all five prizes and there was no second place awarded; my favorite young pianist, No comparison with the winners of this years competition., in the tradition of Pollini and Argerich.
Pollini - Argerich - Zimerman - Blechacz - Cho tradition is just wonderful
@YunZinLee Possibly this was because Rafal Blechacz in 2005 was so outstanding, leaving far behind its competitors. Practically he was the only center of attention, praise and all prizes (read the comments gave the Piotr Paleczny and the John O'Conor, both members of the jury)
By contrast in 2010 a competition was more "normal", with students hardworking, skilled and similar to each other in their technical level.
It may take many years to appear again another "illuminated" as Blechacz .
Rafal you are the Best pianist alive ♥️
What a legend
ESE MUCHACHO RAFAL TOCA LA POLONAISE "HEROIC" COMO LOS DIOSES.

stunning...just stunning
Rafal^. Blechacz bellissimo ascoltare tutto cio che suoni. Bravissimo ciao dall,. Italia
Extremely riveting performance of the piece that would “take me way over there” from early childhood. (And I would only ever hear fragments!) It seems this performance is a pinnacle of all others. Makes a very familiar work achieve an element of fresh air excitement that is so welcome among so many brilliant pianist today. Perhaps I’ll get to hear him live! You never know! Paul W. Green
I was looking for a record of Mr. Blechacz's rendition of the Chopin e minor concerto, to no avail. If he won the concerto prize - if such a prize was indeed awarded that year - the archive should be made available to the public for all the good reasons.
Very simple!...The concert was blocked by "You Tube" in some countries...What country are you from?
Perfection!!!
Skromny chłopak bardzo utalentowany.
cudowne !!!
interviewer: So, what are your goals for this competition?
Blechacz: Obviously to win the first prize
interviewer: Nice, wha..
Blechacz: and the best mazurka prize
interviewer: I see, but...
Blechacz: and the best polonaise prize
interviewer: ...Yes, and wh..
Blechacz: i'm also getting the best sonata
interviewer: May i please ask the questions?
Blechacz: You may, and since you asked, i'm also receiving the best concerto award
Bravo bravo bravo brilliance grandiose
Truly "heroic"!
perfect
Does anyone know why the Chopin competition announces their winners in a random lobby stairwell, and not in the huge theatre?
A nice question!
To increase the hype, and lower the tense...
Tradition.
@@Marcelo721 IT'S THE TRADITION.
Our Polish tradition ;)))
Finally someone is able to perform this piece without imitating Rubinstein!
He plays like Chopin himself..
How do you know how chopin himself sounds like?
@@jshdsj We Poles just feel it in our hearts :)

@YunZinLee Thanks for appreciating my comment ...

Piano no mori?? Kai??
I was thinking the same thing
Polak tylko Legia Warszawie
lim dong hyek should've entered in 2010 lmao
i do believe this is the competition that Nobuyuki the blind Japanese pianist entered. He didn't quite make first prize - but then, um, all the other pianists could see. Whereas Nobuyuki was and is totally blind. What a farce such competitions are. What a farce to say that any other pianist who has ever LIVED is, or ever has been, better than Nobuyuki...
No.... nobuyuki entered the Cliburn not the Chopin
@@huntazin6389 no - he entered the Chopin competition also. get your facts right. Here's the youtube video: ua-cam.com/video/-vpqTRMj7sQ/v-deo.html
@@militaryandemergencyservic3286 oh wow, good to know, thx!
As much as I have the utmost for Nobuyuki and believe his playing to be world-class, I think it is wrong of you to make claims like this and treating his condition as a reason why he is superior to those who had better results than him in a competition.
Every contestant worked very hard. Perhaps they did not have to go through the same difficulties as Nobuyuki, but they all went through their own journies to get to the point of being able to compete at such a prestigious competition.
But more importantly, at these competitions, especially ones dedicated to a particular composer's music like Chopin Competition, it is not a question of how and what you did to get to the competition. What matters at the end of the day is the music itself. The quality of the interpretation insofar as how it reflects a deep, intimate understanding of Chopin while still offering individuality is what matters the most (technical aspects matter less as everyone there is more or less at a similar level of technical skill). Rafał in the 2005 competition won because of that. Whether a competitor is blind or not does not and should not affect jury in their judgement of the music itself or else that would cause for even more controversy and would question the integrity of the jury.
@@HippoTK yes I see what you are saying. I see. However, in my OPINION he is as much better than all the other pianists as the sun is brighter than our moon. And in the same way that the moon is just a reflection of the sun's brightness - so too, all other pianists are just pale reflections of the great Nobuyuki who does all they do but without seeing.
And I do not actually think the other pianists have worked one millionth as hard as Nobuyuki has. Take this polonaise number 6 - I myself learnt it in a matter of months and I am but an amateur. (I recorded 2 videos of myself playing it on my channel - both terrible - but nevertheless neither am I a professional).
However, I see your point. I am also subbed to your channel!
所々でミスタッチ、やはり緊張してるのかな?
What a heck is that? He plays Chopin (Frédéric François Chopin was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic period) like a robot. On gra muzyke Chopina (wielkiego romantyka), jak robot. Sounds terrible. Czy oni sa gluche? Ta muzyka brzmi okropnie. Nic z Chopin. Chopin napewno przewraca sie w gobie slyszac to. No understanding whatsoever.
@@magosiatom9298 I might as well say: To pani sie popierniczylo. On the other hand, kazdy ma prawo miec swoje zdanie. Don't you think so? Although, nie w Chinach.
Pani Jagodo, czekamy z niecierpliwością na Pani występ... Może będzie "little better"...
@Jagoda Dziecko, nie ośmieszaj się. You've only made it too obvious that you know nothing about both piano playing and Chopin's music (and your language skills leave much to be desired, as well - both in Polish and in English).
