      1. where did you get the number of 25k soldiers ? at the time of anglo nepal war in 1814, Nepal could muster hardly 12,000 soldiers hardly after 2 years of intense preparation. Amar singh thapa in 1809 had soldiers in the range of 3-4000 at most.
      2. you should have told how the coward ranjit singh was corresponding amar singh and EIC and playing double game. Amar singh proposed attacking kashmir together/repelling EIC from north indian plains along with marathas and dividing the bounty, and Ranjit singh said why not and initial plans were also made. But at the same time signed treaty with the brits right before the war.
      3. the palace politics of thapa families made things worse. amar singh , though being the most able general, was made to extract tax and run his army by his own, not given the modern uniform and weaponry from kathmandu arsenals, and kept aloof of the palace happenings. there were 2 generals commanding 2 armies with 2 at times different orders : Amar singh and nayan singh(Bhimsens brother).
      4. Nayan singh died while trying to scale the wall in order to breach the fort, not in the war with the sikhs.
      5. ranjit singh actually was quite impressed with the gurkhas and recruited they with their separate nishan and officers. Amar singh's nephew was one of the earliest officers. They distinguished themselves in the khyber campaign.
      6. The tibet was was the main reason nepal could not reinforce to breach the kangra fort along with palace politics.
      7. The brits had feared the outcome of the 3 major enemies of EIC linking up, the marathas, sikhs and the gurkhas. They succeded this by taking up the western gorkha lands. There are records of nepal durbar communicating with sikhs, marathas ,afghans and even burmese to fight against the brits. most of the nations signed some kind of friendly treaty right afterwards with the brits.

Sikhs and gurkhas have literally always been on the same side aside from this one incident. The Nepalese STILL respected and even helped Sikhs after Punjab fell. People don't understand the level of respect these two communities have always had for each other. Even today gurkhas in the Indian army say they'd feel more comfortable being in close quarters with Sikhs.

I know some Sikhs do get a little offended when they're referred to as Martial peoples.
Their duty is to uphold all responsibilities of all classes of society (Brahmadharma, Kshatriyadharma, Vaishadharma and Sudradharma). So their martial prowess is just a part of their regular duties.
I guess in history, military prowess counts for more than philosophy/theology, trade and hard labour.
