- Sian Lloyd hosts the show where three top cake makers battle it out to win the heart of a bride to be by creating her the most over the top, extravagant one-off cake for her big day. In this episode top designers from The Little Venice Cake Company, Venus Cakes and Purita Hyam bake a one off creation in an attempt to win over bride to be Clare Bolton who is planning a vintage steam punk wedding.

Cake 3 is definitely an incredible vintage cake. The cake designer managed to grasp the concept of the theme and in a most amazing way, incorporated all the elements and colours!!! Great job!
It seems that in all these shows, the easiest and least filmed part is actually BAKING this cake itself.
Its very rare in this show that I see they actually do what bride and groom want.. in other episode the cake maker did not even put the topper even though bride wanted it the most.
But cake makers in american shows actually seem to care about every detail.
Yes! I saw that episode and thought the same. I would have been furious, as they did say it was really important and to all cake designers. There was even a space for it to go on the final cake, she just decided not to use it.

The winner is an amazing cake!!!!
There was no doubt that the woman from Venus Cakes was the only person who put in any real effort and researched the eras of the periods that the bride to be wanted. She actually filled the brief of the bride to be while the others just put together what they wanted.
honestly, only cake number 3 considered the steampunk element properly, i don't understand how cakes 1 or 2 even went with the steampunk part of the brief
3 was the only steempunk cake..not hard to decide

I was disappointed with the cake makers who didn't bother to look up steam punk and make the design based on that concept. Three was absolutely the one. Not even remotely a tough choice.

#1 did not follow the Bride's brief - great for a dessert table, but that is not a Wedding Cake and is neither vintage nor steampunk. #2 does beautiful work but she researched the Bride's requests, said she was jazzed with the Steampunk idea, then made a very traditional cake that had nothing to do with the brief. Holy Mackerel ... #3 totally nailed it ! She is a true Artist...all the Industrial aspects of that cake, combined with the muted colouring and flowers...crazy talented. I hope she gets a lot of run-off business from this. Very well done, and respectful of what the couple wanted, not a pre-set idea of what a wedding cake should be.

the third cake was really amazing, the other two pretty much missed the theme
baker number 2 is freaking obsessed with chocolate!!!!

poor girl, the idiots had no clue what she wanted. cake #3 was the closest of all three so she barely had no other choice.. funny how the moderator kept on saying "its a hard choice" lol

the first 2 cakes focus more of the vintage elements only, not much of steampunk, while the 3rd one goes for both. Though when it comes to the possibility of making steam coming out of the cake, maybe they could you dry ice blowing out of it or sth? would it be possible?

So,,, The lady from the little Venice Cake Company knew that Claire wouldn't be fond of the cake... Then why make that design? The sources for what the bride wants are EVERYWHERE on the internet. I think that these designers got lazy and didn't want to leave their comfort zones to be trully creative. The only one who really put in any effort to make the cake fit the theme was the lady with the Octopus cake.
Photo Flair I agree. The 1st cake was just chocolate boxes as flowers can't be eaten.
2nd cake not what the bride wanted.
3rd cake maker put effort and made what the bride wanted. But where is the octopus in the cake?
And did the baker for cake no 1 actually know what steampunk is? At least the second baker made it as vintage as possible.

Sometimes people just come up with ideas that are too hard or too weird for the cake maker to make and decorate. They do the best they can. I don;t think any of these cakes achieved what the couple wanted because the couple didn't exactly know what they wanted.
First and second worked with only the vintage part of the request. Third one worked with vintage and steampunk. Of course it's the only choice huh
cupcakes for wedding cake? is it a common thing in america to happen? im sorry if i didn't know, but from the weddings i went and seen in asia it is quite rare you see :)
Aki Akabane I agree. In asia I have never seen cupcake wedding cake. But honestly the 1st one put no effort at all. chocolate boxes and put flower in it. seriously you can't eat flower so it's meaningless. Wothout flower just chocolate boxes

no no no...not a brooch of pearls.... do a brooch of gears and cogs! the fillagree decor at the bottom two would have bee better if she had done lil wheels and cogs... that would have been vintage, great and fit the feel! Done in metal dusted colors would have been awesome. Wow what an opportunity missed

i really liked cak3 number 3 but one part was a turn off for me she actually blew off some dust using her lips to do that personally i find that unsatiry. cold soar throat anything. that design was very well done cak1 more like center pieces on a table very nice as well but, not for a cake 2nd cake was 3 tier cake wiich was very plain only piping in the center piece cake no problem selling that cake.

I do not like edible food decorated with real flowers, feathers etc........it should be all edible just like the third cake, the only one I would consider.
Those are not even cupcakes... I have no idea what she was thinking... Neither 1 nor 2 were anything really Steam Punk.

wow - they don't understand what steam punk is at all.... the corset cake with octopus....??? really??? NOT steampunk at all. Cogs, wheels, metals, think clocks... not octopus. Gracious me. And the one with chocolate boxes, feathers and PASTEL???? Boy is she off base!! Ha ha ha ha ..
I watch this show and realize I am way to picky. I am nor even getting married. I do not want flowers or anything that can not be eaten on the cake. I do no want fruit. If I get married I am scared I may be a bridezilla.
Mich Turner - not a very likeable person and for that reason, I wouldn't use her company. I don't care if you made Kate and William's cake, that means nothing. What are you are going to do with my cake? She was on a different show name dropping and just comes across as vulgar.
all those cakes were horrible!
Their voices really bored me. Not a very entertaining show. Also, who the heck blows on their cakes (and for all the world to see...?)!!!
