We had close friends who in 1965 bought a beautiful '63 light blue Electra 225 & our family took trips in the Colorado mountains with them several times. Before that they had a '55 Roadmaster, both were sweet rides! Sad we don't make vehicles like this any longer.
The one that we owned had much more features than this 225. We had an automatic electric eye that sat on the dashboard, that would automatically dim your high beams when an approaching car came towards you. We also had the 6-way power bench seat and an speed warning feature on your speedometer that would warn you when you reached a certain speed. It was adjustable up to 120 mph. Sold it in 1977 with 102,000 original miles on it. Everything worked. Only part we ever had to replace was water pumps, about every 20,000 miles.
That's lovely car! Not too many left. A neighbor of mine owned Electra 225's ('64, '66, '70, '74, '79); seeing this car reminded me of him. He passed away in 1984.
This was my first car (..in 1979!) The second "gas crisis" had kicked in and NO ONE wanted a stump pulling torque monster V-8 (And the old Buick "nail-head" DEFINES that!) combined with the OH, SO SMOOOOOTH Dynaflow transmission! So I got her for $100 ($700 in today's money!) THAT CAR made me a BUICK man, Well, Until they stopped making CARS. I'm keeping my '11 Lucerne until it explodes!
Very nice Electra! the 63 Model was when I first started noticing Electras! I was about 9 when these came out and my best friends Aunt got a new white 63 Electra!
Beautiful car, but a shame it wasn't ordered with the more luxurious "custom" interior, power windows and seat. The rather plain interior, crank windows don't befit such an elegant exterior.
the 445 on the air intake meant ft pounds of torque. 401 cubic inches, actual 370 horsepower with dual exhaust. my aunt and uncle had one and when they got a 1966 they gave the 63 to me.
Can A four door be prettier? I don't think so. Yeah people might mention the '61 Lincoln Continental. But as cool as that car is with the "suicide doors" and all, It's a bit stubby compare to THIS, And as much as I TOTALLY DIG tailfins, the 1963 Cadillacs come off as less "sleek" (Despite being literally the SAME BODY) The 1963 Oldsmobile 98 comes off almost as good as the Electra (Also, same body...) But the DETAILS like the "ventiports" just make the Buick Electra THE CAR of GM's 1963 "C" body top-liners, IMHO.
I am curious why Buick chose to use the smaller horizontal tail lights on the Electra rather than the beautiful vertical ones on the LeSabre in 63? It made the rear look much classier.
I'm restoring one right now. The body is immaculate and came with 36k original miles. Can't wait to get it on the road!
This reminds me of a 1966 Electra 225 I owned. Wish I had never sold it.

Lovely looking car. My favourite years for the Electra 225 are the 1963-64, 1969 and 70, and 1971. :)
My Grandfather had a '63 Electra. 2 door fully loaded. He drove only Buicks.

I had this in two-door model, burgundy with a white top when I was 20. My goal is own one again.

Dream car! Gorgeous.

those vertical ones made them look like Cadillacs they went back to them in 64 i like horizontal look better myself it gave them their own look
