If you're on a single PC setup and you can't stream without dropping frames, this is an incredible temporary solution until you've made the money for a serious upgrade.
EDIT: The CPU is the 4790, not the 4790k. Carry on.

Which version of the PC would you guys go with?
Alpha Gaming can I buy it from you or where did you get it
Where could we find and buy this
@@Jemoeder2050 Depending on the game you're running and how CPU dependent it is, I'd say yes but that upload speed is concerning for a smooth stream. Couldn't hurt to try it and tweak graphic and OBS settings accordingly until you're happy with it. You can always look up the game you want to play online and see what the minimum and recommended PC specs are. :)
one that can stream 1080p60 for really cheap
@@Jemoeder2050 They were saying it cost THEM $40 cause they bought the PC used from a local college, then they threw in the upgrades to show you an upgrade path you could take later.
When a game is more expensive than PC
True lol
*insert literally any subscription-based game here*
I'm looking at you, World of Warcraft. >:(
i have the exact pc it costed me $200
@@jakemiller1887 they got rlly lucky getting it for 40. Im looking to get one now to do some light gaming and to stream my console.
@@ultranova9599 hey, have you gotten one and is it good for streaming from console to the pc?
i7 4790k sure
8GB RAM ok
Integrated Graphics ehh
And a LOT of Dust. yes please👌
Absolutely loved the video..
I know this is a long ask but.
Can you do a video on how to set up a two pc setup video.. Like start to finish.. 🙏🏼🙇🏻♂️
Yesss we need this :D
lets make this the top comment
I didn't like the comment bc it had 69 likes
Earlier in the week it was "we BUILT a $40 streaming PC" which is much different than this used 4790K on ebay is $80+. Still interesting though.
BlackFire125 its because they bough theirs from a university, and most universities like the one i got in my town just want some type of cash for their old out of date desktops
@@rythik6587 oh and I know that. I was just pointing out that buying a steal of a deal like this is much different than building. And before this video came out Harris had specifically said in a previous video that they *built* a $40 streaming PC, which I was immediately sceptical of lol.
Gotta comment on the camera shots/ cinematography in the opening! Very well done!
I mean I streamed on an i5-2400 with intel 2000 graphics and 12 GB of ram for the longest (prebuilt) and just recently up upgraded my processor to an i7-2600 that I had in old pc I had, now I'm buying my first graphics card for it. It is hp Compaq 8200 elite I got from eBay for $80 originally
This video just helped me out so much. I increased the amount of available memory to my igpu, and im running smooth!
Finally been waiting for this video :P
Been waiting for this video all week let’s goooo
I’ve been waiting for this long enough
Oh my. I really should start going to those sales that our local university does. Hubby got a desk from them once and it has outlasted all other furniture in the house.
Super insightful.
Considering both my builds are 2k+, I'm now realizing I could be tweaking some settings.
Thanks for the video guys!
Always a good content! Nice work man! Very instructive!
Hi thanks for the video! Where can I purchase one of these PC's?
Walmart, it’s a Dell Optiplex :D.
Surplus store
The dell prebuilts use non-K processors. 100% sure that is a regular i7-4790 (non-K) FYI. Regardless of that, its definitely a solid CPU for encoding still. For the longest time i used a Xeon E5-1620 in my stream rig, a 4c/8t sandy bridge CPU basically similar to the i7-2700, via NDI. 720p60 fast (sometimes even medium) ran perfectly fine on it and looked great. Old Xeons, HP Z400 prebuilt or custom setups, or HP Z420/Z620 prebuilt based setups can result in monster streaming PCs for the money.
good catch on the CPU. I will have to update that!
@@lemonsquizy 👍👍🤘 the K just rolls off the tongue when saying "4790" so easily lol
Dope video guys always love them!!
Mighty job lads keep it going great video. I am starting out streaming very early days for me using ndi thanks for the help :)
Wondering which version of NDI did you use? also excellent job on showing what ultra budget can net a person when shopping around!!!! Big thumbs up for it!!!!
If I’m a console player and using an elgato hd60s to stream, should I use x264 or nvenc new? I have a laptop running streamlabs and I have a i5-10300h 8gb ram Gtx 1650ti. Great video btw. Subbed and thank you so much !!!
I have the same PC, Dell optiplex 9720 SFF, i7-4790 @3.6ghz, 16GB ram, internal 4600 GPU. I use it only to stream PS4 gameplay via HD60S.
My stream quality seems to be pretty damn good at 720/60.
Can you expand on this set up in regards to what tweeks to make and where to make them? A best settings guide would help most of us with videos like this.
IVE BEEN WAITING
Harris, you are on a whole new level these days. Try not to burn down UA-cam with all this 🔥🔥🔥.
Can you make a video to show how did you set it up
That's actually a really powerful CPU for $40. That was my daily driver 2 builds ago. I use that cpu for my stream PC now
New here and just wanna say I flipping love your facial expressions in your lil montage at the beginning made me watch the video lol
The B-roll is nuts
Heads up, you don't need an additional mouse and keyboard just use Mouse Without Borders and link them together. You move from one PC to another seamlessly as long as they are on the same network :)
I love this video. Going t try and use my laptop as my dedicated streaming pc
Do I need external GPU for my dedicated PC?
Because I heard about integred GPU are not enought for quality stream.
When I set to 1920x1080P NDI and OBS open under work load always 13%-15% always.when I start stream or record video CPU load goes up to 70-80%
Dedicated PC: i7 6700+8gb ddr4,250gb SSD.
i know that this video is old, but if I got a capture card and used a PC with similar specs to stream my ps4 games, would i have many issues?
Much respect to this video. I have heard countless times that you can't stream at 720p with anything below a 5th gen i7. My current streaming rig is a i5-2400 (Intregrated Graphics) and 4GB of ram at 720p30 with no problem thanks to Roxio HD Gamecap Pro. It is amazing to see what you can achieve with such little hardware.
30fps is easy but 60fps is hard.
Could I get a separate regular pc for just streaming and just game on my game pc? I know nothing about streaming or setting up but I'm trying to learn so I can set up.
I don’t understand why would you need the cam-link for this single Pc setup.. what is the purpose of that? Where you using 2 monitors to play the game and stream at the same time? Thx
What model Dell Optiplex is that? I have a 7020 that I have been thinking about adding a low profile low powered GPU in it to do the same thing. I think it's power supply is only a 255 watt. Any suggestions on a GPU for it?
So here is a question, say I am not a gamer and want to stream 1080p/30. Would this be doable on a similar PC setup? or would I need to drop down to 900p?
You should add a decent 950 or 960 with a riser card and an external power supply connected to the 6 pin. that pc would be a great value. you could do 1080p60 easy
Hey guys! What if I have an extra gaming laptop I can use for streaming? Do I just get the Cam Link or do you recommend a different capture card?
Hey dude I'm a huge fan! Great to see such a cheap pc!
Are we getting a middle ground PC soon?
Thanks for the video, just subscribed to the channel. I currently stream straight from my Xbox. My 1st purchase was my webcam, Logitech c922 to get my face on my stream. The next thing id like to do is get a PC to stream from, no gaming on it, so I can use streamlabs obs. Don't really have much money so was hoping you could tell me what I'd need in a PC to accomplish this. Thanks!
Streaming mobile game, and i have no idea on how to build a pc, any recommendations on what type of pc can i use that wont cost arms and legs
Sr. I have a laptop Lenovo T420 core i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz and RAM 4GB is that possible with that laptop streaming, i mean is work ? or what ? So if i upgrade it that laptop it will be changing? please i need help about that ...
thank you .
Got an old Sony Vaio I've been keeping on life support... still got my streamer training wheels on and using console. Love all the education. Thanks guys.
Same. Lmao ps4 remote play to Sony vaio with built in webcam.
A video I'd love to see you do is cross reference stream decks with Touch Portal, it turns your phone into a stream deck I'm loving it right now!
I want to do a mobile streaming PC for capturing Xbox and Nintendo. What is the minimum processor power I need? Can I confidently run a stick PC with a USB hub, usb capture card, beacn mic, beacn mix and a small streamdeck? I don't want to buy a $400 nuc when I could possibly get a $70 stick PC.
Can we get a link to purchase the parts for this $40 PC?
what will be a good pc to buy under $400 to use for console streaming ?
I have an i5 2400 and a gtx 1050ti my cpu is maxing out and lagging the game and stream how can I fix it? my internet is good and I’m hard wired and I’m constantly dropping frames throughout the stream so I just need to upgrade to i7?
So what is the difference between using obs and a capture card. Is one less power intensive than the other?
nice one. what's the soft you use for the animated overlay? thx
i have 3 pcs 2 for gaming and 1 for streaming and i want to connect the two gaming pcs into the streaming pc without losing any quality or sound {i will be gaming with both of the pcs at the same time } what shall i buy ??
you used an elgato cam link or something else? can you link it int the description?
Ive got an RX560 lying around. Also with an pc case. Which CPU should i use for that? And
Genuine question: I have the exact same pc but with a gt 1030 and 16gb of ram. I only get 20 fps on stream with 480p. Any help?
I was wondering if you could make a PC build for console gamers.
What capture cards to use in order to play in 4K (XB1X / PS4 PRO) but stream & record in 1080p or better.
Low cost build if possible/the bare minimum CPU & GPU required so no loss in frames.
Thank you.
Love your channel❤️
If I used a GT 1030 and i5 4590 16gb ram how good would that be for just stream because I’m setting up dual pc
I just bought a refurbished El Gato HD60 Pro, can't WAIT to see the difference leaving NDI will make!
How tf you increase the ram or whatever?? I got a sureface book 2 (lowest base model $1200) & it’s ASSSSSSS. I can’t even stream at 720p 30fs! This doesn’t make sense to me at all
So you can use the camlink also for normal capturing?
Sweet!
Now I have even more reasons to get it :D
Dang did Harris just get us with the “Circle game”.
So what I see towards the last test with everything. It looks like they are running 720p 60fps around 5000-6000 CBR. Keeps changing so maybe it could be VBR. At "fast" or "very fast" possessing power* and I assume they are using a hd60 s elgaro with gpu inside stream pc since office pc mobo have one pcie slot. If not then it's NDI over wifi display. But w/ capture card it would be better. Conclusion just set out what you have and try everything.
Love your content
love the camera affects to show off the pc lol
i have an old PC i wanted to do this with, 2700i7 and gtx 580. my question is, there is no HDMI in, can i get a hdmi to dvi converter for my razer ripsaw HD? thx
Hey guys What are your thoughts on the 3e gen Ryzen series? For a 1 pc setup for streaming/gaming AND video editting go for the Ryzen 7 3700X or for the Ryzen 7 2700 X AND safe Some money?
How tf did you get an i7 4th gen optiplex ssf which are more expensive than a mid tower for 40 dollars I’m not an expert but I know a lot about optiplexes if you do a case swap and a you upgrade to maybe a rx570 pr rx580 this thing would be a monster for the budget
Curious, you kept mentioning the cam link at the end, were you using the cam link as a capture card?
yes
Wait so this was your 40 dlls streaming computer and you where just capturing the video from the gaming PC?
Great video!
so, with an avermedia lgp lite 2 can i use a pentium g5400 for streaming???it's amazing...
I just saw a 7040 with Intel Quad Core i7-6700 up to 4.0GHz, 16G DDR4, 512G SSD, what do you guys think of the build just for streaming ?
Or you simply connect this pc which cant handle anything more than encoding to your gaming monitor and switch between Inputs if you have to change something
Can you make a vid with the 40$ Pc and the elgato hd60 Pro??? Btw super nice vid!!!
Okay I have a laptop 16gb ram, i710510U integrated graphics, how would I do?
Is there a way to have your microphone working on both PCs at the same time?
If I have. Laptop that’s an i7 and I bought in 2015/16 could I use that and a “stream pc”?
I run a two pc streaming setup and heres some money saving advice:
1)You can buy a USB switch for your mouse and keyboard solution, meaning you can have the same quality on both rigs. These are pretty cheap brand new. There is NO input lag using these but it saves tons of space on your desk and I always disliked having to pickup my other keyboard, use it on my lap and move it away.
2)Using a monitor with dual/tri inputs you can have an out from your stream rig to a monitor you already use, then switch inputs, it's not an ideal solution but it saves money. Ontop of this if you have auto input switch on, when the stream rig goes off it'll switch back to your game rig input which is a nice QoL improvement.
@@drwhitetv8579 Hey, yeah I paid £13.99 for mine but its a four port switcher, I only use two ports though. Thats $17 I'm sure there were cheaper though, still - for the sake of deskspace and using a mouse and keyboard that you don't have to move, I like it!
Switching mid match, I did a quick test from stream rig to game and counting in my head it was 2-3seconds. Going on my own personal expierence of running two mouse/kb - throwing them to the side, often they were in the way, putting them safely on the floor is a couple of seconds. You could of course chuck them and risk damage - the best situation is one of those roll out drawers I guess? I'd be happy to show you it in real time if you pop by the stream - just lemme know it's you and I'll show you :)
You 100% need two monitors for streaming regardless, I've always treated my stream setup as a bit of an RPG - I fill all the slots and then upgrade them, personally I run four monitors and I'd like more (I don't need them but I NEEED them you know?), however finding a cheap monitor here in the UK is quite difficult I've found, at least where I live. I'm guessing you could perhaps remote into your rig using your phone but if you're running a budget streaming rig then that may not be possible. Don't get me wrong, it's great seeing all the stats on the fly - I wouldnt be without them now but theyre not essential. You could always do checks if chat doesn't tell you, my outlook on streaming is that you should always be reviewing your own content for hiccups and issues
i did this, bought a cpu with an i3 cpu 4th generation , 6 gb of ram , motherboard and a gtx 650 for like 100 euros everything. streaming at 910p after that i got a razer capture card for 100 € used. its a good solution imo! love your videos and thanks for all the help!
Can also skip the keyboard, mouse and monitor
and just RDP or another type of remote software to the streaming PC
Was this all done x264 or did you try nvenc
I really liked this type of video
harris saying dope is my favorite shot of this video
so close to 100k!
What were the OBS settings?
I run perfect streams on my dell OptiPlex 7010 with the only upgrade being a rx 570 and a new psu. I've obviously optimized obs and the games but no problems with valorant or apex legends. I just got it built a month ago so I have like 0 viewers but still great stream quality.
Where can I get those sound traps he has in the corners of the room?
where can i buy the 40$ pc?
where can i get this same build .. cause im running on a google chormbook ...
which capture card did they use?
I have a i5-4590 and GTX 750 Ti, could I stream at 1080p 60fps to Facebook?
Can this be used a 2nd pc streaming encode?
Now I just need to see if they have any of these in my local university.
2:23 how did you higher your itergrated graphics?
Bring this guy back
perfectr vid to come out on my birthday lmao
Did you use Quick Sync?
HOW THE.... I have i5 4590 + 8 gb of ram + gtx 1060 and I paid $400.
Where did you get that pc from????
What's the name of the pc? And what can u recommend me for around 60 -80$
a 4790k is still a beast cpu, so getting it for 40 bucks its almost impossible :/
$250-300 in Australia still
regularly seen around £150-200 here in the UK. Very rare you find them super cheap.
Akoshnai finding that optiplex for 40 bucks is almost impossible
Check desc it was a typo xd
Still the same, a i7 4790 is a beast of a cpu :/
Was this the Newtek NDI or the old method?
