Anyone remember the main entrance to the buckroo beach amusement park of the clowns made of neon lights rolling the ball back and forth? Great memories...Thank you for the video.
Hampton native here. The "wishing well", or what's commonly known as the light house, is left over from the old amusement park that closed down in the mid 80's. The pier behind the stage I believe was a restaurant at one time and burnt down many, many years ago. Pretty sure you can't fish out there because of the pay-to-fish pier.
Can't really say, haven't been to the beach in ages except when I visit Little E's post office. If it's how it used to be about a decade ago, I'd say you would have your hooligans, as there are in most suburbs, however, some of the smaller housing projects can get rough. For the most part I would say Buckroe is moderately safe, but if you have a choice Foxhill/Foxbridge is much safer. Btw, expect occasional flooding in these areas when tropical storms and nor'easters hit.
If you decide to visit the Hampton Roads area especially the beach, Old Ft Monroe is right next to Buckroe Beach and numerous Hotels, Motels, shopping and things to do, but traffic is a monster
Great video!!
