BOJ sunscreen is PERFECTION. Great filters, no scent, no eye sting, very smoothing w/o being heavy or too dewy. It's my day-to-day SPF, but not for hard core beach days b/c it's not sweatproof.
@@AlexandraAnele 14:06 Could you do a video that represents the diversity of the olive-undertoned community more comprehensively? Thousands of people recommend you for people who discover they are olive but are still marginalized and under-represented because they are not a warm-olive. (I know, I am one.) Olive undertones can be "warm-olive", "neutral-olive" or "cool-olive". Of which the latter is the most rare of the bunch in the western hemisphere. And ALL can be either "muted/desaturated" or "bright/saturated". To represent everyone with a dedicated video or a series would be extremely helpful and up your subscribers if you referred to pigments/products that would work particularly for cool-olives. Skin can be porcelain, fair, light, medium, dark, deep brown. All of these distinctions explained would be a HUGE service to the millions/billions of olive skinned people out there many of whom still don't know they're olive. Cosmetic companies to this day say all olives are warm which is absolutely not true. Yes, we can use foundation pigment correctors like Mehron in blue and green. Blue is better for "muted/desaturated" or green for "bright/saturated". But lots of people spend way too much money mixing in "concealer correctors" with their foundation to try to match which changes the formulation of the foundation and is more costly than foundation pigment correctors. And many don't want to go through the hassle of mixing pigment even though it may be fun for some of us. I strongy suspect there is a much higher ratio of the population that has some level of an olive undertone and are unaware they are "getting away" with foundations that are "close enough" because they are warm and neutral olives. Which means they some neutral foundations are "good enough" for them. But this never really works for cool olives who don't know they need to be looking for purple blushes which will turn pink/mauve on their skin. Cool olives need to look to Asian taupe shadows for them to even begin to look right on their skin as opposed to American shadows which are primarily warm in tone. It's all very frustrating as an artist, consumer, and makeup lover. Olives, particularly cool olives should not have to jump through hoops to find pigments that will work for them.
@@violetviolet888 okay go find a green/blue pigment to use in cosmetics that is cheap enough to use in production. That's the crux of it. And then get it approved for use on skin. @@donotreply8979 Here you go: I use Mehron (Same professional makeup brand that Alexandra often uses. "Liquid Makeup" in blue and in green. Honestly the Hero apricot sunscreen is my tried and true (it literally feels like a bb cream) but of course it's like twice as expensive (and I'm certain I could get coverage out of my $5 LA girl concealers). Is it really that awesome? I'm so curious!
Dude. That Gold Bond retinol lotion that Dr.Dray recommended is a game changer. It's sooo goood! I also use it on my neck since Tret/Differin isn't neck-compatible. Also, I finally bought Auric Plush Ritual and it should be coming today/tomorrow. I'm sooo stoked to finally try it. Woot!
Out of all the UA-camrs I follow (and there are many that I’ve watched over the decade), you are the one I trust most with makeup recommendations. Thanks for all you do! ❤
The pronunciation is so close! The actual pronunciation of BoJ sounds more like Beauty of "Jo-sun" (an old terminology that refers back to one of the older periods of Korean Peninsula). Their skincare line overall is quite impressive and fitting those who have sensitive acne prone skin. Recommend!
Love everything about this video! A heads up for “older” skin: My friends and I tested the Smashbox foundation applied lightly with both a sponge and a brush. It always sat on top of the skin and looked like a coat of paint (much like Gaga’s line does on older skin). As an aside, it looks gorgeous in everyone’s kids!
I love these natural light vids you're doing of late, it really suits you, you look incredible here, effortlessly elegant , and the way the natural lights dances across your skin, wow. 💜💜
I have a question.... Why is it better/healthier to spray chemicals on your hair and scalp daily via a dry shampoo than it is to simply rinse your hair with water, which is one of the most inert (and essential) substances on the planet and will actually help rinse away pollutants? I understand not wanting to wash your hair every single day, and I know many people like that. I don't understand substituting water with chemicals sprays that just sit there, permeating the skin barrier and possibly building up toxins in your system.
1,000% on the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen! I never want to use an American sunscreen again. I’ve also gone a little crazy with the BoJ line; I have two cleansers, toner, moisturizer, and mask. Love all of it.
It really is the best of the best, I’ve tried over 30 sunscreens in a year ~ I have eye issues and cannot tolerate any sunscreens but K beauty by my eyes
i would love a brand ranking video of some sort. like either ranking brands by tiers or a bracket elimination for brands. you could separate it out by drugstore/high end/luxury or not. i'm especially interested in all-rounder brands, which have great products for all complexion and eyes etc. but it doesn't have to be like that. i think it would be a fun idea! and potentially good for people like me who prefer to makeup shop in-person, where it's easier to start with a trusted brand and then move elsewhere if needed.
I’ve been using tretinoin 0.01% for 3yrs now and it’s still PLENTY strong for me. I love it! To reduce flakiness my derm said after cleansing and moisturizing wait at least 20min for your face to be totally dry, then apply. That works sooo well for me.
Thank you for sharing this. I knew I need to apply to dry skin but I definitely don’t wait longer than a couple minutes. And my skin continues to break out and get flaky even though I’m on 0.01%. I’ll wait longer!

The K-beauty sunscreens are game changing. I got the Belif one in a kit, thinking I would just use it to get rid of it - but I’m converted to K-beauty SPF now. No stinging, no burn in my eyes, just amazing. I just ordered a bunch for the winter to try.
i cannot stop being obsessed with your makeup and your face whenever i watch a new vid…like you’re so pretty and your features are so aesthetically pleasing i can’t. love the recent vids w this set up too! ❤
BoJ sunscreen broke me out - a similar one w no breakouts is Round Lab, and my FAVE is HaruHaru Wonder (very natural velvet finish on skin - no grease or dryness at all!!!) 😊
Alex, I gotta tell you something. Burt’s Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment also has ceramides, is just as, if not more, moisturizing than the auric, and costs $9 at target (1/3 the cost of auric!!). Please try it as a replacement for the auric!
That foundation does something reminiscent of the 16 hour camo concealer by Elf. Not that it's the same thing or whatever, I just mean it's similar in that it's kind of "light" and "airy" feeling and yet makes a hell of a difference with just one reasonable layer. I love
I found your channel a few days ago and have been watching your videos NON-STOP!! ever since. Your descriptions/recommendations are just great. I have two questions: 1. Can you link your colored contact lenses from the Bella Hadid tutorial please? 2. Do you have gel nails in this video or are they glued on? If they are glued on, I would be happy if you could link them ♥
Omg, Alex. I would have to agree with your mascara recommendations. I've been meaning to try the clio mascara but it's not as easily accessible. I have been loving the tower 28 & gxve. However, mascaras that are not waterproof never lasts on me, so I layer it with the loreal lash paradise in waterproof 🙂
I just started using the Gold Bond lotion on your recommendation. Even if I don't ever see the retinol effects, it's still so nice and hydrating and doesnt take forver to dry down. I'm sold. I also weirdly like the smell of it. 🤷🏻♀️
I love Clio mascara, the long curling, one. Best price at Amazon. My eyes water and this is the only waterproof mascara that is truly waterproof! And it comes off easily with Clinique liquid take the day off makeup remover. Love it! Thank you, beautiful! 💕
I also use Tret and Beauty of Joseon spf is my favorite spf! If you like the dewy finish of the BoJ, I also recommend Can Make Mermaid Skin spf (Japanese) and the DRMTLGY combination chemical-mineral spf! Klorane dry shampoo is the best one I've ever used. I've heard the Living Proof and Dry Bar ones are also some of the best.
I absolutely love this! Real people talk. Real products that work behind the scenes. I’m totally here for this, not what’s new! I get compliments all the time also about my eyebrows, people, asking if they are micro bladed, and that they look so good. Literally just soap and some brow pencil or a pen. I do tint them too with men’s beard dye! I did actually just pick up the Ardell brow glue today. I saw it by the eyelashes walking through Walmart and never knew they ever made a product such as this since I don’t do false lashes! Oh my goodness this stuff is like Elmers glue, but doesn’t stay sticky or wet. It is very effective and has some good ingredients. Sometimes, depending on the soap, it can irritate my brow skin area so I decided to find a gel that works similarly. This may…be it!
I don’t use sunscreen every day for those reasons you mentioned. I only use it on days I know I’m going to be outside for a length of time. On a regular day I pretty much leave for work in the dark and come back when the sun is going down or already down. I also don’t sit next to a window. My go to foundation has spf 15 which doesn’t irritate. Do you think that is good enough for my work days? I just don’t think drying out your skin is good as anti aging goes. Thoughts?
Juice Beauty serum foundation is my HOLY GRAIL!!! Super clean and healthy, lightweight, buildable, feels like real skin. It’s truly freaking amazeballs. I’m a fair-ish skinned Latina with faint yellow undertones. This foundation is now the only one that I will everrrr use.
I love the Maybelline bronzer! The shade is so perfect for my yellow warm undertones and the texture is beautiful. I have high end bronzers in my collection that have been ignored ever since I’ve discovered the Maybelline one.
Girl, we need a video on today's look, please! GORGEOUS! Also - where did you get your little silver heart earrings you wore in your last video? Thanks! 🤗❤️
I've used a ton of skincare items the last 2 years. Joseon is a very good brand. I've been using some of their serums. My favorite is a wonderful Japanese brand with rice moisturizer. It reals wonderful.
Love your skincare journey. I started my tret and k beauty journey about 3 years before you started and I was so excited when you started your journey. Tret and beauty of Joseon are and absolute game changer. Add niacinamide 15-20% and it’s a recipe for stunning skin 😊
The beauty of Joseon sunscreen is my st graal ! I am sensitive to sunscreen too and it doesn’t sting, it gives me a beautiful glow and hydrates too, I never use a moisturizer with this one because it can be too much if I combine both but it hydrates enough on its own ! (I have combination skin by the way) and makeup sticks great on top of it.
If someone is fair olive Mac Mineralized skin finish in Medium Plus is a beautiful natural looking bronzer. I want to try the Medium Tan one this summer. I can not attest to that undertone yet though. I’m definitely going to try the City Bronzer. So many people can not be wrong.
I've been doin my brows like you for so long now and I love this technique so much! They just look clean and natural. Also this method is super adaptable, I shaved like a little slit into my brow and it still works so well!
@@thepeacefulprof for me personally I’m missing a lot of brows at the front (over plucked 90’s girl here lol) so might seem weird but I kind of go in from the top (of my forehead, if that makes any sense lol) and then using it on an angle I use quick upstrokes to make thin “hairs” I also go in with a spoolie soon after (let it dry a couple of seconds first) hope that helps!
Another good one that I like to use when doing makeup is Harharu Wonder Airyfit sunscreen. Its also very clean, moisturizing, fragnance free, and it almost doesn't sting my eyes at all (basically at the same level as BoJ one, I also have sensitive and dry eyes). Worth the mention in case you want to check it out 😊 Love your videos, you look gorgeous, and your nails look fabulous 😍🤗
Ive always had the issue with sun screen burning my eyes..... ive started wearing it under make up and trying to take care of my skin....put some on...whent out...sweated and my eyes where in FIRE
You inspire me! I'm in my late 40s, and my makeup and skincare needs have and are changing. I bought your favorite brush set on Sigma, because I have small and hooded eyes... I need those and so thank you for recommending small brushes. :) Also .. I find that the inky list retinol is my go to, and the retinal eye cream. I also love inky list caffeine eye cream and their peptide/collagen serum products. I can't find a sunscreen though.... maybe I'll Try what u recommend. Sunscreen is the bane of my existence. Lol
I really love the idea of the ritual lip treatment for gifts. Im starting my Christmas shopping so any videos on beauty gift recommendations would be welcomed!
I’ve been going through so many of these videos trying to find that one she mentioned the at home laser removal… That’s one thing that I wish was easier to search on UA-cam, as it’s all written in the description it should be searchable. It’s a bummer. Also sidenote if Alex ever sees this you should make your empties/favorites their own playlist. I like to search through them for gift ideas too
I’m really curious how you’d like Pacifica’s Aquarian Gaze Mascara. It’s water resistant, which I know waterproof mascara is a must! Me too! They term it water resistant, but I wear it all the time and I think it does a great job of staying on all day for me. It feels so hydrating on my lashes! It’s a natural lash look for sure, but it feels great and doesn’t irritate. I’m really trying to make cleaner makeup choices so I would love to see what you think of some of the cleaner drugstore brands like Pacifica or Honest…
I think the best recommendation i got from you is a CLIO mascara. Since i bought one i don't use anything else. Only i have to use a fixer, to keep my asian straight lashes curled.
Advanced Clinicals is the name of the lotion you were using. Perfect timing -- earlier today, an hour or two after this vid was posted, I had decided to buy the AC lotion because I had seen you and other people using it, but for whatever reason I decided to watch this vid first and now I want to try the Goldbond instead! Thank you for your wisdom! 🤩 So do you ever get any sun? Is a little sun okay when using retinol? Would you ever do a What I Eat In A Day vid? I love those vids and would love to see one from you! I think we have a similar way of eating. Take care! 🙂
7:56 omg I used this and had such a bad reaction to the watermelon in the formula. It felt so nice and I loved that it was a retinol full body lotion. I so badly wish I could use it.
I wanted to love the Smashbox foundation but I just couldn't. I couldn't find the right shade. I can't afford to buy two to mix. I was given 4 shades to sample and the all oxidized on me. So frustrating. I need a new sunscreen so I'm going to try the one in this video. Thanks for the other product recommendations.
I dont know if you will see this Alexandra (or if you have mentioned it before) but I just found out about using arnica for under eye discoloration and puffiness and its supposed to be a game changer! I just got a tube so gonna start testing it out since nothing seems to get rid of my dark circles
Hey Alexandra, I was just wondering, two things - Have you used a any qulity retinol products in the past and do you feel Tretinoin is really much more effective? And, I love the idea of using a Retinol body cream - but I was curious what the difference you experienced after using Gold bond? Thanks for all your fabulous tips!
Yes! the living proof dry shampoo is hands down the best. I honestly think it smells a little like wet dog which sucks, but nothing else is as effective and the scent fades quickly
@@a.a.12945 I have! It definitely smells wayyyy better than the living proof and I think it has a really nice lightweight feel in my hair, but I think the living proof makes my hair look cleaner
I really appreciate that you talk about products that could work for other people and why. :) Many UA-camrs just talk about what they like, but then I’m sitting here, well I have a pink undertone and you have a golden undertone, so I can’t use that blush, and here we are :/
Just told my sister to check out your channel cause everything you say is true. We're both light olives I think. I bought the Wayne Goss face palette and Makeup by Mario ethereal eyes palette on your recommendation and love them both. Also ordered the Auric balm that should be coming soon and really curious about the Maybelline bronzer now! I also already own the beauty of Joseon sunscreen and living proof dry shampoo which I love. (Btw, I think it's pronounced joson in Korean.)
Dissapointed in the new shades. The lightest Olive shade is not olive and paler then Smashbox 24h in 1.05, which was a quite good fair olive shade. I am curious which two colors are you mixing? The lightest and second lightest olive shade (O)? Imo the W shades pull pinkish, at least on olive skin.😓
Same girl i also have very sensitive eyes and would be pouring like crazy with some sunscreen, I really like the BIORE UV Aqua Rich the best sunscreen.
Paused the video to finally buy the Auric lip treatment. My lips are always flaky even when they’re not that dry. Excited to see if that one works for me.
The skin1004 sunscreen (korean brand) is really similar to the boj one and has a pump which I really enjoy. I just bought a second one. Also, I have pretty short, straight and stubborn (Asian) lashes and I like the romand han all fix mascara in long black (01). It has a smaller brush which makes it easier for me to use :)

I’m so glad that you found Beauty of Joseon sunscreen. It’s so good and probably my favorite sunscreen.
i love how real she is. she always seems so sincere in her suggestions. very refreshing!!
Girl, we need a video on today's look, please! GORGEOUS!
Also - where did you get your little silver heart earrings you wore in your last video? Thanks! 🤗❤️
You look just stunning in this video . The makeup , the jumper , the earrings . Perfect . Plus good video to know . I will try some of those things 💗
The nails 😊
I've used a ton of skincare items the last 2 years. Joseon is a very good brand. I've been using some of their serums. My favorite is a wonderful Japanese brand with rice moisturizer. It reals wonderful.
I’ve been using the Clio mascara ever since you first mentioned it. It’s the only on that does not smudge or flake on my oily lids. 🤟🏻
From a Korean speaker: It's pronounced Joe-Sun, rhymes with Go-Fun :) And I agree- The Beauty of Joseon SPF is one of my favorites!
Can confirm this!
💅🏻💅🏻💅🏻! Dying over your nails too. What’s the color and are they gel or natural? Thanks! 😊
I love the GB Retinol too. I also use it on my face and noticed a difference there too.
I love love love her earrings. So elegant and beautiful and really works with that turtleneck. 💗
I LOVE your makeup coloring here 😍 Suits you so beautifully
Your nails are fabulous! 💅🏼
I liked that sunscreen, but I like the Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica water-fit sun serum even more. Such a nice consistency, and it doesn't burn my eyes at all.
I'm absolutely in love with the Auric lip treatment. Even a tiny bit is inctedibly nourishing.
If someone is fair olive Mac Mineralized skin finish in Medium Plus is a beautiful natural looking bronzer. I want to try the Medium Tan one this summer. I can not attest to that undertone yet though. I’m definitely going to try the City Bronzer. So many people can not be wrong.
Would love a video on this makeup look, especially your lips! The color is amazing: what did you use, & what technique to get them so gorgeous?
I've been doin my brows like you for so long now and I love this technique so much! They just look clean and natural. Also this method is super adaptable, I shaved like a little slit into my brow and it still works so well!
100% agree Nyx brow pen! I took that recommendation from you a while ago and it is definitely the best! Thanks as usual❤️
How do you get it to be “hairlike”?? Whenever I use it, even when wiping off the felt tip, it just leaves a block of stain.
We love being one of your IRL recommendations! We also love the turtleneck 😉 ❤
I love Scinic Sunscreen spf 50+. Great for deeper skin tones 😊
I like to search through them for gift ideas too
You look fantastic! Video on this makeup look please!!
Please tips on wearing high neck stuff and blouses with collars, I love them and I always ruin them with foundation even when I set my makeup 😢
The skinfix moisturizer has been repurchased constantly since you recommended it!!! It’s a necessity when you are on tret.
Hi Alex! What bronzer would you recommend for cool olive fair skin? Is it difficult for us! 🥺
I need to get that Auric plush ritual (and repurchase glow lust)! I’m waiting for Black Friday so I can get a good deal.
Yassss the beauty of joseon spf!!! I cannot get over how good it is
Hey Alexandra, I was just wondering, two things - Have you used a any qulity retinol products in the past and do you feel Tretinoin is really much more effective? And, I love the idea of using a Retinol body cream - but I was curious what the difference you experienced after using Gold bond?
Thanks for all your fabulous tips!
Your makeup looks absolutely radiant!
Yes! the living proof dry shampoo is hands down the best. I honestly think it smells a little like wet dog which sucks, but nothing else is as effective and the scent fades quickly
Have u tried the Moroccan oil one? It’s better and smells better imo
@@a.a.12945 I have! It definitely smells wayyyy better than the living proof and I think it has a really nice lightweight feel in my hair, but I think the living proof makes my hair look cleaner
What are you wearing on your nails? they always look so beautiful!
I really appreciate that you talk about products that could work for other people and why. :) Many UA-camrs just talk about what they like, but then I’m sitting here, well I have a pink undertone and you have a golden undertone, so I can’t use that blush, and here we are :/
I’ve also fallen in love with the beauty of Joseon sunscreen!! It’s incredible 😍
Definitely keeping all of these top of mind - and love a tret rec! Idk why more people don’t use it
Oh em gee alex a makeup tutorial on this look PLS🥺 I’m obsessed
Love the nail color!!
Whatever your contour routine/product it is that you’re doing is BOMB your cheekbones are insane! What did you use? 🤩
Alex, I really agree with you about the Nyx brow pen being great😘
Love the honesty on diff skincare. Appreciate all the tips and info. Thx
Your brows are #goals. I’m super fussy with mascaras too and recently tried a mini of Fentys mascara and I’m loving it! Have you tried it?
I really like the Batiste dry shampoo for anyone who can't afford the Living Proof dry shampoo
I love the gold bond retinol lotion!
Do you have a recommendation for natural looking false lashes? My eyes are super sensitive to mascara, even the tubing ones.
