Thanks for adding in the bit about a routine for people who are chronically ill. I was watching this from bed whilst doing my skin routine and its good to hear options for a bed routine.
I started using the Thayers milky toner because of your recommendation you made. It’s affordable and I can access it at the local pharmacy (I’m not big on online shopping) - I had previously avoided it because the packaging reminds me of something that comes from an apothecary or something 😅 But I’m so glad I did. I’m sure there’s so many others out there that are better, but I’m very happy to have Thayers be a part of my daily routine. It’s simple, it does its job, and I find it to also be a nice prep for under makeup ❤❤
To see how beautiful your skin is gives me hope for my Type 1 rosacea-prone skin! I never understood rosacea and just dealt with my symptoms, but I've learned so much watching and learning. Hydration hydration hydration! I never understood the importance of that! My rosacea has never been under this much 'control' and my skin feels and looks so much better ( my skin loves BOJ and now after watching a previous video about Tir Tir I'm finding it loves Tir Tir as well). Thank you for talking about it and even when you don't mention it or talk about it, I pay attention to what you are using and how you treat your skin 🥰
I would love to see a video going over the products in your new background!! I am SO curious about all of the products on the shelf with the fwee lip glosses!
One of my favorites is the Goodal Vegan Rice Milk. It is clear, but thick and hydrating. Glycerin, soymilk, rice extract & Ceramide NP. My dry skin just loves it! Many blessings!!!💖💖💖
I love the Glow Recipe Watermelon toner as well! I use that one in the morning and I started using the Beauty of Josen Rice toner at night. The best of both worlds!
My favorite is the torriden skin booster. It's not milky per se but it reminds me of one, and fungal acne safe! I love it, it doesn't break me out at all. Second favorite is laneige
The purito oat in is amazing, it’s super hydrating but can be a bit sticky so you should wait and hour before going to bed to make sure it doesn’t go into the pillow.
I cannot suggest the Tir Tir milky skin toner enough. I have very dry skin and the stuff just soaks right in and leaves my skin nicely prepped for whatever serum or moisturizer I use afterward. You can usually find a sample size for a few dollars if you want to give it a try. I'm still relatively new to K-beauty, only been about a year, but the difference in my skin has been very noticeable.
I have almost gone through a bottle of the FENTY milky toner and really liked it for my dry leaning skin. Already have the Tir Tir milky toner as my next one to try! Thanks James!! ❤
Please try haruharu wonder - Black Rice Probiotics Barrier Essence (Milky Essence), better that Tir Tir. So silky, non sticky. Would like to hear your opinion
Thayers is my go to for a simple basic toner. I like their unscented witch hazel/aloe. And I love that it’s a spray bottle. I recently tried the snow mushroom one and it is really nice, but I have the same foaming problem! Fortunately it doesn’t seem to foam up as much for me as you’re describing. Edit: my favorite milky toner has actually been the Crème Shop Hello Kitty Strawberry Milk Toner. Not only is it nice, it smells amazing.
My favorite is the J beauty Hada Lobo Gokujyun (they call it a lotion, but it's a toner). I use the white bottle. There are different varieties and refills are available. It is SOOOO GOOD on my drier skin. Their cleanser is my favorite too. This is so popular they sell it at the Japan Pavilion here at Epcot. Give it a try, I know you'll really enjoy it. EDIT: There is no scent to it either, which I need.
I have oily skin and dehydrated skin, and I love the BYOMA milky toner. It really has helped my skin feel more balanced. And the price is just right for me.
Thanks vor this video, James ❤! By the way-your skin looks amazing!!! The first milky toner I've ever used was the one from Anua and I really enjoyed it. Now I am using the TirTir one and I am obsessed by it 😅! I will actually try the Laneige one next spring/ Summer, cause I live in Andalucía and It gets really hot here. So maybe using the Laneige milky toner I can skip the moisturizer and go straight in with sunscreen xxx
Do the Dr. Ceuracle Kombucha Tea Essense & Mary&May Blackberry Complex Cream Essence count as milky toners? Even if they don’t, please do a review on them! 💗
I love the Byoma range in general, and the milky toner is lovely. I'd like to try some of the others, but they would need to be cruelty free and vegan, so that makes it a little more difficult. Would you consider doing a video about the best cruelty free brands? Love your content. Xx
The new background is distracting. I am focused on the shelf too much 😂 Laneige is the OG and definitely started my love for milky toners! I'm dry skin so I adore a milk toner. I am currently using the Good Light and it does not have a scent and my skin loves it!
I hate the Thayers milky toner for a different reason : gave me cystic acne! and I discovered that I’m allergic to snow mushroom! Bummer but it never foamed up on me whenever I did use it. Are you sure it’s not because you use foaming cleansers? There’s always residue left behind that people don’t realize like you have to really rinse those suckers off lol
I just bought the Ordinary one today. I just finished the Byoma one and love it. I have gone through 3 bottles over the summer as I love to use toners/ essences as my serum, then a serum as my moisturiser and SPF as my moisturiser in the warmer months. Now that it is chilly, I ‘thicken’ each step to get full hydration and moisture. Sadly about a month ago my dermatitis flared up as I have a damp issue in my flat. So I had to stripped everything back to the Byoma milky cleanser, the milky toner, their gel cream then a thick layer of nappy cream. Thankfully it’s gone down and I’m introducing ceramide serums back in(Byoma hydrating serum). Have you tried the ordinary retional the new one ? Also skin+me is in boots now, maybe a review ?
Laniege is ❤. I think the BoJ will probably be good for all skin types. I also want to try Anua. It looks like it would pretty good. I like their products.
Toners are so divisive- some people swear by them and some people consider them pointless. For the longest time i thought toners were only these stripping alcohol-like liquids that burned my skin. K beauty is what showed me toners should really be if anything hydrating and I’ve been in love ever since!
I think toners are most helpful for people with dry skin or if it has an active in it like salicylic acid and it’s needed for acne. But really anyone can use them
Thank you for the video as always! ❤ Could u try some Japanese brands too? 👉👈 I feel like milky toners are kinda huge here and I'd love to know your thoughts on some of them
Before the anua rice toner I could never find a toner that worked for me. I have super oily skin but tends to dehydration. All the toners I tried were either too watery and did nothing or way too sticky. The anua rice toner is just perfection. Super lightweight and super hydrating with the perfect touch of moisture
VERY milky. Alittle bit heavier than most milky toners and very moisturizing. I love milky toners for my oily but dehydrated skin, but it was abit too heavy for me. Love the texture though.
Robert, hey I'm under the impression that a Toner is an astringent. It basically helps finish cleansing the skin, it removes what your cleanser leaves behind. And it conditions the skin at the same time.(cica for redness, salicylic acid for acne prone, snail mucun brightens and helps to fade dark spots/pigmentation. Rice protein aids in recovery of skin barrier etc. And I was under the impression that an "Essence" comes after your toner and is more of a vitamin rich, antioxidant rich, and this would be where you use your "Milky" formulas. But they both prep your skin to more affectively absorb your serums, creams, and oils.
Awe man, this L.A. spa Blissspa used to have this enzymatic milky cleanser, and it smelled like lime and lemon combined with an herbal scent like sage, basil, cilantro, etc. It was such a great cleanser, and it's smell was divine!
Hi James I enjoyed this video. It gave me some guide to choose a milky toner. Could you also rank oisturizers especially k-beauty ones that you have used?
Hi James! I’m curious to know if you’ve tried any japanese milky toners? I’ve seen a few people mention the naturungi (?) toner and to me that looks like a milky toner but haven’t seen anyone describe it as a such - have you tried this toner and what are your opinions on it?
Do you mean the Hatamugi Naturie? Personally I prefer the J Beauty Hata Lobo Gokujyun. It is SOOOOO nice and has transformed my skin. It is scent free and the cleanser is wonderful too. I use the white bottle but there are different varieties for different skin needs. And they sell refills. And don't forget you can use toners on your body too - it's all skin.
I think rhode products are good beginner products, if you want to dive into skin care but don’t know where to start or don’t have a routine, these products work pretty well, they don’t do too much they do just enough, it doesn’t have crazy actives and ingredients in it and it does what its supposed do, and then if you want to branch out you can experiment with other things
I find laneige too sticky. Currently using byoma and very similar (but much cheaper). Best I think is dr jart ceramidin cream spray. Bottle lasts 6 months, super fine spray and works great as an easy stand-alone moisturiser on hot or lazy days. The ilia base milk is meant to be amazing (but very expensive)
I’ve always wondered what your skin care collection looked like, now I can see for myself, and it’s as pretty, bright and colourful as l expected, the only downside with that tho (and I speak from experience)…… DUST….ENDLESS SHELVES OF GOD DAMNIT DUST!! 😂
will forever be mad at laneige for reformulating - the og formula was PERFECT for dry skin with the unique film it left on the skin and the new one feels so basic 😢 they should’ve just made a *light* version instead
I dont know what youre going to say about the goodlight one, and i didnt know it was viral, but im on my third bottle 👀 so curious to see if you hate it lol
I love the goodlight toner. I pare it with anua 70. Amazing moisture. I used to use leneige but once reformulated it was trash. The ordinary is more a water toner, not milky. Crap runs sown my arm. Like the ingredients but it feels i am wasting a ton of products
If it's the one I'm aware of, then it's the saccharomyces ferment toner and it's been around since May 2024. I tried it (and am using it still - on my first bottle since June) and it was okay, haven't seen big changes or anything crazy, but it's been nice. Don't really love the packaging though 💁
Don’t tell us perfection doesn’t exist when we can see your skin 😍
James' skin is like a unique piece of fancy glass
Thanks for adding in the bit about a routine for people who are chronically ill. I was watching this from bed whilst doing my skin routine and its good to hear options for a bed routine.
Me too! It’s the only thing that brings me joy. Chronic illness sucks doesn’t it ❤️
Fibro gang here. Skincare is one of my few can do’s ❤ (usually) 😂
So early i can smell the toners
😂
Lol why is this so funny 😂
🤣😂
😂😂😂😂
The new audio is the best combo of education meets ASMR🖤
fr i could fall asleep to this!
true 🌙✨😴
I LOVE YOUR NEW BACKDROP! So cute 🥰
Me too ❤
I started using the Thayers milky toner because of your recommendation you made. I would love to see a video going over the products in your new background!! I am SO curious about all of the products on the shelf with the fwee lip glosses!
james the mary & may blackberry complex cream essence is single handedly the most moisturising essence i’ve ever used!!
agreed, this and Dr. Ceuracles's kombucha creamy toner. SOOOO GOOD.
One of my favorites is the Goodal Vegan Rice Milk. It is clear, but thick and hydrating. Glycerin, soymilk, rice extract & Ceramide NP. My dry skin just loves it!
Many blessings!!!💖💖💖
Thayers was the gateway to milky toners for me. I got it because of the accessibility. Looking forward to trying your other recommendations.
I have no end of respect for the amount of well researched info you put into your videos James. Also, your skin looks fire! 👌
I’d switch to a new toner but the glow recipe pink toner just does so well for my skin
I love the Glow Recipe Watermelon toner as well! I use that one in the morning and I started using the Beauty of Josen Rice toner at night. The best of both worlds!
I can't live without Paula's choice milki toner, it's soothes my skin better than anything else and also very moisturising
Ok i love the podcast type of video. James just keeps gettin' better❤
I also love the Mary n may blackberry essence toner and the isntree yam root toner
Laniege milky toner is, dare I say it, my holy grail. Ive tried others, and kept coming back to it.
Thankyou James Welsh for doing an episode on skincare. There are so many out there it’s hard to navigate. Fantastic information on ingredients too 😊
Wow I really like the new set up!
I Love milky toners/essence in the winter when my skin gets dryer, my favorite is the Dr. Ceuracle Vegan kombucha Tea Essence.
Same this and Tirtir have been game changers for me
I still have a few original Laneige Cream Skin toners to use up. But I fell in love with Purito and pushed those to the side 😊
Tonymoly´s Wonder Ceramide Mochi Toner is my one true love.
Thank you James! Needed to be reminded of milky toners... Time to shop my stash and put into routine.
I’m wasn’t a toner girl, but i tried Laniege and it improved my skin so much. I can’t be without it now. ❤
Just finished a paper, was extremely tired but your vids kept me going 🫶🏻
Yesss, I was just comparing milly toners because I've almost run out of my regular one. This is the perfect video.
My favorite is the torriden skin booster. It's not milky per se but it reminds me of one, and fungal acne safe! I love it, it doesn't break me out at all. Second favorite is laneige
BTS JIN is the AMBASSADOR for LANEIGE! So a reason needed to put it in a cart.
The purito oat in is amazing, it’s super hydrating but can be a bit sticky so you should wait and hour before going to bed to make sure it doesn’t go into the pillow.
Currently curating my first k-beauty skincare routine as a dry-skinned girl and this video could not have come at a better time❤
I cannot suggest the Tir Tir milky skin toner enough. I have very dry skin and the stuff just soaks right in and leaves my skin nicely prepped for whatever serum or moisturizer I use afterward. You can usually find a sample size for a few dollars if you want to give it a try.
The background is perfect for these videos! 🖤❤🖤❤🖤

I’ve tried both the I’m From and the Laneige and I sooo like the I’m From better. It is so good. Just the right ammount of hydration.
Yes!! 🎉 This was exactly what I wanted to request!
❤❤❤ Love la neige cream skin!
I love your Fall themed shirt.
I have oily skin and dehydrated skin, and I love the BYOMA milky toner. It really has helped my skin feel more balanced. And the price is just right for me.
I can't decide if my skin would do better with water or milky toners, but I'll definitely get the sample sizes for Laneige and TirTir!
Thanks vor this video, James ❤!
By the way-your skin looks amazing!!!

I love the Tirtir Milk Skin toner.
I've been using the Frudia Avocado Relief milky toner since 2020/2021 and I love it. It's so good for my skin
I love the new set up!
ohhhh yes the tirtir milk skin toner is absolute perfection
I was wondering what you think about Aestura’s essence. It’s also milky and just wanted to know if it’s something you’d recommend using 🌸
my favorite is the Ordinary fermented is wonderful
I was literally just looking for this type of video - perfect timing thank you 🤩
Do the Dr. Ceuracle Kombucha Tea Essense & Mary&May Blackberry Complex Cream Essence count as milky toners? Even if they don’t, please do a review on them! 💗
Love the Dr . Ceurcle is my holy grail ! The perfect mix of hydrating and moisturizer
I'm still in love with the I'm From Rice Toner...haven't been without it since I heard about it from you years ago!
I love the Byoma range in general, and the milky toner is lovely. I'd like to try some of the others, but they would need to be cruelty free and vegan, so that makes it a little more difficult. Would you consider doing a video about the best cruelty free brands? Love your content. Xx
I love this filming style
This was so helpful since I’ve been needing to change my skincare routine!
I have used Laneige in the past and also the I’m From Rice toner (love that one), I’m currently trying the Ordinary one, I like it so far…
NO WAY!!! For two days I choose milky toner and on the third day you post this? 😅 THANK YOU
Just the video i needed
Happy Halloween 🎃
I love the tone of your new mic. Great information in this video 👻☠️🦇👺💀👹🤡💜😘
I like the Ilia’s The Base Face Milk Essence.
The new background is distracting. I am focused on the shelf too much 😂
Laneige is the OG and definitely started my love for milky toners! I'm dry skin so I adore a milk toner. I am currently using the Good Light and it does not have a scent and my skin loves it!
Yaaasss! Happy Halloween All 💜🖤👻
The byoma is so amazing and soothing. The Tirtir irritated my skin and made it so red and burning 😢

Unintentional foaming sounds scary. 😬 Luv the new set up.😃

This is James
Hi James I enjoyed this video. It gave me some guide to choose a milky toner. Could you also rank oisturizers especially k-beauty ones that you have used?
James try the Celimax dual barrier creamy toner it's so good and nourishing and the Dr. Ceuracle kombucha essence
The fenty one is missing. I love it. Hydrates and smells like black tea.
I was JUST commenting on social media that milky toners seem to be having their moment!
I use Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence. Brings life back into the face.

I've been using Paula's Choice milky toner for a couple years and love it....would I love your favorite even more?!
Have you tried the Ordinary saccharomyces ferment toner? It's a great price and I really like it!
How do you know exactly what we need to know? I’m trying to move mostly to K/J beauty and this checks off one box ❤
No ceuracle’s kombucha toner? It’s my fav ! 😂
I needed this. I have tried Rhode and Bliss and not sure if I like
I’ve been using the I’m from toner for a while but recently decided to try the thank you farmer milky toner. Have you tried that one?
Thoughts on the new Haruharu Wonder barrier essence?!?
I’ve been using it the past two weeks and I love it. It’s a thicker consistency than a lot of them. Very hydrating.
Hi James. Have you tried the new Haru Haru Probiotics Barrier Essence?
I’ve always wondered what your skin care collection looked like, now I can see for myself,
and it’s as pretty, bright and colourful as l expected, the only downside with that tho (and I speak from experience)……
DUST….ENDLESS SHELVES OF GOD DAMNIT DUST!! 😂
will forever be mad at laneige for reformulating - the og formula was PERFECT for dry skin with the unique film it left on the skin and the new one feels so basic 😢 they should’ve just made a *light* version instead
I dont know what youre going to say about the goodlight one, and i didnt know it was viral, but im on my third bottle 👀 so curious to see if you hate it lol

You forgot the Dr. Ceuracle kombucha tea essence one of my favs
i was wondering if you have tried haruharu makgeoli milky essence i heard its the richest one yet
The ordinary just came out with a milky toner??!?
If it's the one I'm aware of, then it's the saccharomyces ferment toner and it's been around since May 2024. I tried it (and am using it still - on my first bottle since June) and it was okay, haven't seen big changes or anything crazy, but it's been nice. Don't really love the packaging though 💁
🙏
Happy Halloween 👻😈🖤
I really don't mind the foaming with the Thayer's. It sinks in so fast that I don't have time to be mad. And it's so cheapppp.
Ah I miss the OG Laneige Cream Skin mist still...
Can we get a tour of the products of your backdrop?
