I started using the Thayers milky toner because of your recommendation you made. It’s affordable and I can access it at the local pharmacy (I’m not big on online shopping) - I had previously avoided it because the packaging reminds me of something that comes from an apothecary or something 😅 But I’m so glad I did. I’m sure there’s so many others out there that are better, but I’m very happy to have Thayers be a part of my daily routine. It’s simple, it does its job, and I find it to also be a nice prep for under makeup ❤❤
*suluxy* got me back into fashion lol. The prices for the real shit made me stop paying attention for a long time because I couldn't participate. Also I want one of those Adidas Balenciaga collab bags but will I still like it in 5 years? Why spend thousands of dollars on that??? Nope.
To see how beautiful your skin is gives me hope for my Type 1 rosacea-prone skin! I never understood rosacea and just dealt with my symptoms, but I've learned so much watching and learning. Hydration hydration hydration! I never understood the importance of that! My rosacea has never been under this much 'control' and my skin feels and looks so much better ( my skin loves BOJ (and Cosrx) and now after watching a previous video about Tir Tir I'm finding it loves Tir Tir as well). Thank you for talking about it and even when you don't mention it or talk about it, I pay attention to what you are using and how you treat your skin 🥰
@@merlinsmama1600 exactly! shows you that some brands just dont spend on marketing the way others do! So glad I received a sample of it, immediately went to order a full size.
One of my favorites is the Goodal Vegan Rice Milk. It is clear, but thick and hydrating. Glycerin, soymilk, rice extract & Ceramide NP. My dry skin just loves it! Many blessings!!!💖💖💖
I really love these one type of product showdowns! With sooo many things coming out on the market, it's really helpful to compare products and which fit best into your routine.
How do you like it in combination with other products such as creams and serums? I live in Norway and my skin loves a lot of hydration, especially in winter 😩🥰
@missxteen For me, I haven't had any issues with it in combination with products I use, which usually have a thicker consistency because its cold in the UK and still no pilling or anything like that
I’m so happy to see the Byoma toner being mentioned here!! I’ve tried so many milky toners, and if I had to make my own list, Byoma would be very near the top. It leaves my skin with this incredible hydrating glow without feeling greasy and layers very well on top of itself.
I love the Glow Recipe Watermelon toner as well! I use that one in the morning and I started using the Beauty of Josen Rice toner at night. The best of both worlds!
James, my god, you’re beautiful! Your skin just look so amazing! I’m definitely looking for more of a rice toner especially for fall/winter. It makes my skin feel so much better.
Thayers is my go to for a simple basic toner. I like their unscented witch hazel/aloe. And I love that it’s a spray bottle. I recently tried the snow mushroom one and it is really nice, but I have the same foaming problem! Fortunately it doesn’t seem to foam up as much for me as you’re describing. Edit: my favorite milky toner has actually been the Crème Shop Hello Kitty Strawberry Milk Toner. Not only is it nice, it smells amazing.
I would love to see a video going over the products in your new background!! I am SO curious about all of the products on the shelf with the fwee lip glosses!
My favorite is the J beauty Hada Lobo Gokujyun (they call it a lotion, but it's a toner). I use the white bottle. There are different varieties and refills are available. It is SOOOO GOOD on my drier skin. Their cleanser is my favorite too. This is so popular they sell it at the Japan Pavilion here at Epcot. Give it a try, I know you'll really enjoy it. EDIT: There is no scent to it either, which I need.
the laneige toner honestly pulled my skin out of the depths of my eczema. i can feel a huge difference when i use it beneath my moisturizer vs. when i dont
Hi James! Violette_fr's Boumboum milk is marketed as a toner-serum-moisturizer, but it has an extremely similar texture to milky toners. I would love to know your thoughts on this one, and compare it to the Laneige Cream Skin.
This was such a fun video to watch, I love milky toners :) Curious why the Dr Ceuracle toner didn't make it in as that's such a classic as well? I've also been desperate to try the Anua milky toner, but I'm trying to work out why they don't seem to ship that line to the UK.
you need to try the first aid beauty wild oat hydrating toner! I've been using it since 2019 myself. Hands down I prefer it to the laneige toner. So under appreciated!
I bought the I'm from RiceToner based on your recommendation and I love it. It's been a game changer in how my skin looks and feels. I don't think I could remove it from my skin care line up for any reason.
I really loved Beauty of Joseon's toner. It did wonders to my skin, leaving it looking hydrated and so fresh. it's a definite re-purchase for me. Now I'm also curious about the Laneige one. ❤❤
I have been using the Belif milky toner for a few weeks and I really like it but I just got my Stylevana order from a month ago delivered yesterday which includes both of the TirTir milky toners. I will be trying them out soon.
I’ve been using the laneige cream skin refiner for 5 years now. I fell in love with it when my skin was very sensitive, which made me break out a lot. I feel like it helped my barrier a lot and calmed my skin down. I can use it throughout the year and I live in Brazil so in summer I don’t want to wear anything heavy and I can still use it. I have been through like 4, 5 bottles of it and would still repurchase it. I used to love the original formula bc my skin is pretty dry but I still like the new one
Love this ranking, also because most videos I’ve seen are from people with dry skin and I’m combo. If you would rank the Ilia milk toner in here, where would you place it?
I’ve fallen in love with the Im From Rice Toner this year. It’s made my skin so smooth and clear. I’ve got a mini tir tir to try next before deciding on a full size 👀
I have used I’m From and Laneige toners before. Just bought TirTir milky toner based on your recommendation. My combination skin that tends to lean towards dry side is LOVING it. I already had Laneige in stock, so could make a straight forward comparison. Definitely this one is the best. My top 3 would be TirTir, I’m From and Laneige.
Do the Dr. Ceuracle Kombucha Tea Essense & Mary&May Blackberry Complex Cream Essence count as milky toners? Even if they don’t, please do a review on them! 💗
The purito oat in is amazing, it’s super hydrating but can be a bit sticky so you should wait and hour before going to bed to make sure it doesn’t go into the pillow.
Hiii James!!! Hope you are doing well, Had tried and started using I’m from Rice toner years back on your recommendation,, loved it sooo much but as we always want to try new products, I tried many others but finally again repurchased I’m from rice toner and again loving it ❤ your videos and I’m from rice toner is nostalgic ❤ love love ❤
I am so glad they have so many choices now. I have used Paulas Choice Enriched Calming Toner for many many years and I can't imagine not having it! I am just happy to be able to have other choices finally.
I just started (2 months) on the ILIA base face milky toner and it’s something I never knew I couldn’t live without. Especially while starting on a retinol again. I haven’t been this happy w my skin in years
The Good Light milky toner is my favorite! I use that one in my morning routine. I have oily skin, but it's dehydrated so at night I tend to treat my skin like it's dry, and it's done wonders to help balance it all out. So at night the milky toner I use is the TonyMoly Mochi toner! It helps my poor skin feel like I drink enough water, lol
Thanks vor this video, James ❤! By the way-your skin looks amazing!!! The first milky toner I've ever used was the one from Anua and I really enjoyed it. Now I am using the TirTir one and I am obsessed by it 😅! I will actually try the Laneige one next spring/ Summer, cause I live in Andalucía and It gets really hot here. So maybe using the Laneige milky toner I can skip the moisturizer and go straight in with sunscreen xxx
Hi James! I’m curious to know if you’ve tried any japanese milky toners? I’ve seen a few people mention the naturungi (?) toner and to me that looks like a milky toner but haven’t seen anyone describe it as a such - have you tried this toner and what are your opinions on it?
Do you mean the Hatamugi Naturie? Personally I prefer the J Beauty Hata Lobo Gokujyun. It is SOOOOO nice and has transformed my skin. It is scent free and the cleanser is wonderful too. I use the white bottle but there are different varieties for different skin needs. And they sell refills. And don't forget you can use toners on your body too - it's all skin.
Please try haruharu wonder - Black Rice Probiotics Barrier Essence (Milky Essence), better that Tir Tir. So silky, non sticky. Would like to hear your opinion
I personally love the fragrance of the good light toner! it's not too strong and adds a perfect little breath of relaxation from the botanical spa aroma for me. But I can totally see it being a no if you don't vibe with that scent. Def elevates the user experience for me :)
VERY milky. Alittle bit heavier than most milky toners and very moisturizing. I love milky toners for my oily but dehydrated skin, but it was abit too heavy for me. Love the texture though.
I have almost gone through a bottle of the FENTY milky toner and really liked it for my dry leaning skin. Already have the Tir Tir milky toner as my next one to try! Thanks James!! ❤
I just wanted to mention that it has been a little while since I’ve been watching, but I wanted to tell you that you are so beautiful and you just age reverse I see you 🫶🏼✨
Thayer’s rose witch hazel toner has been my holy grail for over a decade, so I tried the milky one. I have the same weird foamy, creamy effect with the milky toner (also weird because compared to other milky toners, it’s very non-greasy??) but yeah, for the price and accessibility, I really can’t complain. I also have combo skin which is such a pain in the winter especially, but I think because this one is very hydrating without oily feeling, it’s a great boost for my skin to go under my moisturizer 😊
I cannot suggest the Tir Tir milky skin toner enough. I have very dry skin and the stuff just soaks right in and leaves my skin nicely prepped for whatever serum or moisturizer I use afterward. You can usually find a sample size for a few dollars if you want to give it a try. I'm still relatively new to K-beauty, only been about a year, but the difference in my skin has been very noticeable.
@girrl88 Thank you so much for the recommendation!!💗 The tirtir was one of the toners I was gravitating towards but I'm probably going to purchase a mini and then purchase the full size if it also works for me!
@@cee6516 Glad to be of help! I started off with the sample size and it lasts for quite a while if you use your fingers and not a cotton pad. And get this - the sample size is actually full. It's not one of those where you get a half empty bottle.
I love the Byoma range in general, and the milky toner is lovely. I'd like to try some of the others, but they would need to be cruelty free and vegan, so that makes it a little more difficult. Would you consider doing a video about the best cruelty free brands? Love your content. Xx
I have oily skin and dehydrated skin, and I love the BYOMA milky toner. It really has helped my skin feel more balanced. And the price is just right for me.
My favorite is the torriden skin booster. It's not milky per se but it reminds me of one, and fungal acne safe! I love it, it doesn't break me out at all. Second favorite is laneige
Is the product from CosRx Comfort Ceramide Cream Mist considered a milky toner? It called itself “spray moisturizer/cream” a couple years ago 😊 it’s the only milky toner like consistency I have and I love it 🥰💜💜💜
Yesss! I'm so happy that milky toners re-gaining their popularity again! I remember the one from Roundlab, used to love it but it's no longer available in my country cuz it's no longer popular 😢 however tho, currently I'm using the one from Nacific, it's thicker than the Roundlab one but so worth to try!
I love rhode’s glazing milk! They are generally overpriced as a brand but it IS such a great hydrating product, i love the thicker texture and the fact that it doesn’t contain exfoliants so that i can pair it with retinol and other actives of my choice. The Tir Tir one is a little too watery for my personal taste, but maybe great for people with oilier skin
Hi James I enjoyed this video. It gave me some guide to choose a milky toner. Could you also rank oisturizers especially k-beauty ones that you have used?
Hi, loved your video !! I have one question, since laneige is a toner moisturizer, when do you use a serum ? Before or after ? I bought recently this toner and I'm applying my serum after it but I don't know if I am right or not ... Thank you for your response
i should try the laneige toner. i enjoyed the fenty milky toner and currently use the byoma one since im on tretinoin, but i always avoided laneige since they aren’t cruelty free. but since my skin is in a mayhem maybe i should just take the plunge
Toners are so divisive- some people swear by them and some people consider them pointless. For the longest time i thought toners were only these stripping alcohol-like liquids that burned my skin. K beauty is what showed me toners should really be if anything hydrating and I’ve been in love ever since!
I think toners are most helpful for people with dry skin or if it has an active in it like salicylic acid and it’s needed for acne. But really anyone can use them
I love The Ordinary's milky toner! I also have the new Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Probiotic Barrier Essence, but I haven't cracked it open yet...I'm looking forward to it though!
Robert, hey I'm under the impression that a Toner is an astringent. It basically helps finish cleansing the skin, it removes what your cleanser leaves behind. And it conditions the skin at the same time.(cica for redness, salicylic acid for acne prone, snail mucun brightens and helps to fade dark spots/pigmentation. Rice protein aids in recovery of skin barrier etc. And I was under the impression that an "Essence" comes after your toner and is more of a vitamin rich, antioxidant rich, and this would be where you use your "Milky" formulas. But they both prep your skin to more affectively absorb your serums, creams, and oils.
Awe man, this L.A. spa Blissspa used to have this enzymatic milky cleanser, and it smelled like lime and lemon combined with an herbal scent like sage, basil, cilantro, etc. It was such a great cleanser, and it's smell was divine!
Hey! Toners haven’t been an ‘astringent’ for some time now. Maybe in the 90’s / early 00’s they were even considered a second cleanse but those types of toners are pretty outdated if they even exist anymore

I can't decide if my skin would do better with water or milky toners, but I'll definitely get the sample sizes for Laneige and TirTir!
Def elevates the user experience for me :)
have u tried the haruharu milky toner? very curious about that one
I love it. On my 4th bottle.
I just wanted to mention that it has been a little while since I’ve been watching, but I wanted to tell you that you are so beautiful and you just age reverse I see you 🫶🏼✨
you need to try the new haruharu one and the ordinary one. would love to hear your opinion!
Me 4years ago…” I wash my face with, hand soap… it’s fine.”
Me now… “ I need a toner, but how milky does it need to be for my skin..?”
🖤💜
The Milky Toner from Fenty Skin is really great. Works amazing for my dry skin.
Okay, finished the video and sounds like I also need to give the Beauty of Joseon one a try!
Currently curating my first k-beauty skincare routine as a dry-skinned girl and this video could not have come at a better time❤
I cannot suggest the Tir Tir milky skin toner enough.
@girrl88 Thank you so much for the recommendation!!💗
The tirtir was one of the toners I was gravitating towards but I'm probably going to purchase a mini and then purchase the full size if it also works for me!
@@cee6516 Glad to be of help! I started off with the sample size and it lasts for quite a while if you use your fingers and not a cotton pad. And get this - the sample size is actually full. It's not one of those where you get a half empty bottle.
@@girrl88 with the samples not being half-full?! I'm definitely purchasing two now😆
Thank you James! Needed to be reminded of milky toners... Time to shop my stash and put into routine.
❤❤❤ Love la neige cream skin!
Would love to hear your thoughts on Pyunkang Yul . love their essence toner, completely changed my skin!
It called itself “spray moisturizer/cream” a couple years ago 😊 it’s the only milky toner like consistency I have and I love it 🥰💜💜💜
Thank you for this!! I'm trying thayers now for the winter and so far, so good❤
I've been using the Frudia Avocado Relief milky toner since 2020/2021 and I love it. It's so good for my skin
I have been using the Ordinary one and it is great.
Yesss, I was just comparing milly toners because I've almost run out of my regular one. This is the perfect video.
I have a mini of the Tirtir milky toner from a travel set, and it's slightly too sticky/heavy for me, but I'd like to try the light version.
Hi James I enjoyed this video. It gave me some guide to choose a milky toner. Could you also rank oisturizers especially k-beauty ones that you have used?
Just love you. I’ve been thinking of bringing back my milky toner, I miss it
Hi, loved your video !! I have one question, since laneige is a toner moisturizer, when do you use a serum ? Before or after ?
I bought recently this toner and I'm applying my serum after it but I don't know if I am right or not ... Thank you for your response
Ur skin is glowin, updated skincare routine pls
i should try the laneige toner. i enjoyed the fenty milky toner and currently use the byoma one since im on tretinoin, but i always avoided laneige since they aren’t cruelty free. but since my skin is in a mayhem maybe i should just take the plunge
I also have the new Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Probiotic Barrier Essence, but I haven't cracked it open yet...I'm looking forward to it though!
ohhhh yes the tirtir milk skin toner is absolute perfection
This is James
Hey! Toners haven’t been an ‘astringent’ for some time now. Maybe in the 90’s / early 00’s they were even considered a second cleanse but those types of toners are pretty outdated if they even exist anymore

I’ve tried both the I’m From and the Laneige and I sooo like the I’m From better. It is so good. Just the right ammount of hydration.
