These 3 things are: 1. Know your numbers 2. Know Yourself 3. Know Your Customers Thank you for another informative content, Wilson. I admire that you've shared your personal experience in guiding aspiring restaurant owners. God bless you! 🙏
My wife’s family owns Thai restaurants and food carts. The worst thing you can do is a soft start and not have every item available on the menu. You need to have a soft opening and not advertise it. Then a few weeks later have an official grand opening. I have refused to go back to any restaurant who was understaffed or ran out of a dish on a soft opening. Especially a grand opening.
I am considering opening a Restaurant I've been thinking about over the last 5 or 6 years. I have found many of your videos helpful. But I still have a few questions I'm trying to figure out. Look forward to seeing more of your videos.
My eyes swelled with tears when you paused talking about your experience regarding taxes. Your videos are a great deal of help trying to get my nail business of the ground and sustain success.
Great video - couldn't agree more that connecting with and listening to customers is number one, as well as creating an amazing culture for your team! Thank you for sharing!
Wilson, these are great. Have you thought of serializing these in the form of a podcast? You already have all the content you would need. There are big trends towards multi-tasking. People like to listen to stuff while they're walking, working out, cooking, etc. Could bring you to a whole new audience if you haven't tried it already!
I have some friends who do podcasts and I think there needs to be a lot more attention placed than just extracting the audio of my videos and putting it on Apple podcast or spotify. In the future maybe a more serious podcast series :)
what are the substantive differences to keep in mind btwn opening a sports bar and a restaurant? thanks, you have been a great resource for this newbie.
Good advice Wilson, especially, "know your numbers". Talking of which, 25% gross profit seems reasonable but what % should you allow for utilities as gas and electric (and water) are real expensive right now? I look forward to your reply, thanks in advance. Monty

Great video, but I don't own a restaurant but in fact work in one in a ice cream. What tips would you give to employees to provide value to the restaurant? And what can I do to make it easier for the owner?
bottom line for owners is sales. if you can bring in more sales, that equates value. so how do you bring in more sales? identify your clientele. provide them exactly what they want, and more importantly, what they need at that moment. best of luck! :)
Hi! Very good video. The one that I'm missing is what kind of financial report you should look into to measure your company's financial health and growth. Thanks!

Amazing. Thank you for the breakdown on what should be the target % cost! Can you share your opinion/advise on whether food trucks are a good business, and what should be the watch outs prior to going in that type of business? Thank you, Wilson!
food trucks are great for testing out new concepts, minimal investments. however the cons with that is licenses are often times quite difficult to get since each city has only a limited amount. also, its difficult to be on the road all the time. best of luck on your venture!
There is 7 ramen restaurant And many sushi restaurants in Tucson. Their business is good! But not all of them. Should I need to open another one? Is it too risky? Thank you!
Hi Sir. How much would you suggest should go in to renovations? I’m renovating a space and I want to go the cheap route but I don’t want to sacrifice the ambience too much. I understand this can vary based on your concept but at a bare minimum do you have any estimated costs?
Hi Wilson, thank you for sharing, your content is fantastic! I find it difficult to understand the numbers, I’m working on it but watching your videos are helping my process. If you have any other videos on numbers would you please share? In this video, you got the average monthly total and started to deduct rent - food - labour (75%). My business isn’t opening till the end of December so I don’t have any numbers to go off, is there a way where I can prepare some assumptions to help me understand? Maybe rent + labour + food assumptions = my target to break even for the month? Hope this makes sense.
