That’s the interesting thing about this body style impala. They had 4 versions of them. You could get both the 2 and 4 door in a fastback body making them look sporty or you could get the regular body where the roof didn’t flow down making it look much more utilitarian

Yes, and nothing went through horrendous weather like big GM cars. I had two '68 Impala's, but the car I recall always soldiering on through big storms was my '86 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser wagon. It's roots dated back beyond the '67 Impala in the video. These GM "B" body cars (1926-1996) were the best that GM ever made.

I can not imagine anybody restoring the ridiculous front wheel drive Impalas. They are nothing but luninas in drag. What about the modern front wheel drive Malibu? Nobody is, going to restore that anemic, front wheel drive junk. But the legacy Impala and Malibu would be incredible to restore. Not to pick on Chevrolet only, who is going to restore the new front wheel drive Dart, in the future? It is a Dodge Colt in disguise. Ford does not have any legacy names brought back in stupid putt-putts but their line up is not worth restoring, save Mustang. Will there ever be a day someone restores a focus? But the Crown Victorias of recent past may see a resto mod or two, so will the pickup trucks. Chevy's newer style Monte Carlo may see some resto mod also, but it is front wheel drive. Front wheel drive is not much in demand for restoring. The Challenger, Chargers, and Rams will see restoration without a doubt. But there simply is not much that people are going to want to restore from the automotive jokes of today. They are so ugly and flimsy.

car...one night on the way home driving on a rural 4 lane road
a deer jumped and planted itself onto the right front fender...dad did not get a scratch...but the now dead deer turned the hood into an accordian, cracked windshield, broke both lights, and front trim...broke battery, radiator, and grill, alternator tore off its mount...and air cleaner was crushed by the hood damages...and twisted the frame... from how it landed off the road in the side ditch. car was" totaled" by insurance co. sad end for a vehicle the whole family really liked...fun to drive big and powerful too. every time i see one of these antiques...i wish we still had ours.

One of the best video stories in this series. Christian bought an ordinary Chevrolet Impala sedan from that special time period (the late 1960s) and is bringing it back to its former glory. He is following in his dad's footsteps by buying an Impala, and it's a beautiful example. I appreciated his modest tone in relating his plans for the car. Fortunately, the body and paint appear to be in excellent condition, so it won't take six or eight years. Kudos to him for buying a "foreign" car that originally came from the State of Florida, and working long-distance to get parts to make this happen in Europe. There were a few bumps and hiccups initially, but he seems to be well on his way to making it happen. He's taking his time and will complete the rest of the repairs over the next couple of years. Congratulations, Christian, for being selected, and best of luck with the rest of the build. On a side note, this car is now 52 years old, not 43 years.

@Jeff Oliver The '67 Impala 2-dr hardtop is a very unique and classic design, but not a lot of them around. This 4-dr looks nice too. The '58 Impala 2-dr hardtop is my favorite and I owned 3 of them at one time. I also had a 1961 Impala SS, but with the high performance 348. Only 625 '61 SS cars were made and they are very rare (half of the ones seen today are counterfeits, or "tribute cars"). The "Bubble Top" '61 Impala hardtop was a one-year only car, but the same bubble top was used for the '62 BelAir 2-dr hardtop which was popular for drag racing. 1958-1964 Impalas ruled the world, and still do 50+ years later!

To the new Impala owner - a big grats for it's a beauty! Will provide a footnote. Those year(s) Impala's were infamous for rust in the rear wheel wells & quarter panels. If your turning your attention to the undercarriage do yourself a favor make sure to give areas extra anti-rust proofing & possible drill drain holes (in not outwardly visible locations..) where water may collect. PS - Think water tends to get in (due to poor sealing) around the cavernous trunk. Best wishes..!

I also later owned a Chevy Chevelle SS 1973 MODEL and a 1980 El Camino and a 1971 Olsmobile I think another Coupe like my Big Impala (Huge engine). I had a few other muscle cars as I was a frisky girl who loved them. But the car I drove about 450,000 miles having bought it pre-owned is still THE WINNER with me. It was a 1980 Datsun 200 SX Coupe. 5 Speed. Nice Gauges I learned to trust. A mechanic bought it from me STILL RUNNING REALLY WELL.

Nice video! I myself have a ‘67 Impala convertible. Nothing special... Bolero Red, 283/Powerglide with AM radio. 130,000 miles. But it’s special to me. I’m the second owner. A friend of my father’s bought it new in 1967, so I was more than familiar with the car growing up. It came with the original warranty card, protect-o-plate and years of maintenance records. He passed away in 2010, it sat in storage until his wife decided to sell it to me on the condition I show it to her when I got it running again.
I got it going after a few weeks and sent it for some minor bodywork repair rust in the quarter panels and the floor pan, drove back to her house and took her for a spin. She was in tears after the drive and said she was glad I brought it back (for the most part) to its former glory. Needs a few odds and ends, but a solid driver until I have the time and the means to finish the job.

My mom had a 65 model. White with blue interior. I used the back window shelf as a play area for my matchbox cars when would would have long drives. (No car seat, how am I still alive? Haha)
I loved watching the plumes of smoke billowing from the tailpipe and seeing the annoyed look on people's faces behind us as they quickly rolled up their windows.
(We didn't have the car very long...)

My buddy and I rebuilt a 1970 Chevrolet chevelle had the 454 we bought it for three grand, at that time it was just the body, frame, and engine no transmission or interior, I kept it for about a year then he had it four months and we sold it. That was the best car I've ever owned, so much power.
