I never thought it my wildest dreams(and some of those include midgets) that this video review would cause such an uproar on both sides of the Invicta argument. We are all entitled to our opinions and that's the beauty of UA-cam. I apologize(just trying to be civil actually) if this video review touched a nerve with the Invicta Army out there but you folks surely know that Invicta does not have the greatest reputation. Invicta has some VERY SHADY pricing techniques, hit and miss quality, durability issues and some VERY GAUDY watches. I am simply giving my opinion and if you don't like my opinion or don't agree with it, that's fine. I'm sure there are many other videos that slobber all over Invicta so feel free to watch one of those :) I just have to inform people of the FACTS and if someone can avoid buying an Invicta from watching my review that puts a smile on my face :)
Thanks to Felix Culpa below! Here is the link to the Better Business Bureau's "F" rating of The Invicta Watch Company Of America: www.bbb.org/south-east-florida... Thanks again Felix!!! Hopefully now some folks will finally realize that Invicta is CRAP!

I’ve had this identical watch for over 10 years and been wearing it for every single day for work and pleasure. I get it wet and very dirty every chance I get. When the battery dies I replace it for 4$.
The only thing that ever breaks on these heavy watches is the pin that holds the band to the rim of the face of the watch. It bends in time and eventually falls out due to the bow of the pin. Replace it prior breaking for 2$ and carry on. It’s a tough and durable watch for the price and looks sharp at the same time.

I have an Invicta chronograph Pro Diver. That I have used a lot and taking it swimming, it has the Seiko movement in it. It's been working just fine for me and I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it.

i "watch" invicta watch special segments on the tv shopping channel for comedic relief. seriously. they should sell those things on infomercials and package them w the 'as seen on tv' logo on the box and hawk them along w the bacowave and slapchop. at the very least you would see they get sold right next to reverse mortgages, cpap supplies, and tax 'relief' services at 315 in the morning.
no offense to baconwave and slap chop. i love bacon and hate chopping onions. am glad i did not delay and 'acted now' :)

Invicta is the pinnacle of poor taste. The only model that has any value at all, is the diver with the Nh35 automatic Seiko movement for about 100 euros. But even for 100 Euros, I would rather have a Casio Duro. It is blasphemous to call this brand Swiss.

I started collecting invictas about 5 years ago when my father gave me my first one at sixteen years old. Now at twenty one i have nine ranging from big to small. If you are interested in an invicta, look into one of their reserve collection. Take your time picking it out because you don't want to make the mistake of buying the wrong one. Some then feel obligated to try and bash a fantastic watch company over one of the cheapest watch you can buy from them.

Your complaints about the features of this watch seem baseless. For the price range of this watch most other watches lack the same features and/or will not have a Swiss movement. You need to compare the same fruits.

I have a Seiko Solar Diver Chronograph which I have snorkeled with in the ocean. It has screw down pushers and crown, solar powered, and a working chronograph! Why do people waste their money on stuff like this when you can get a real chronograph diver for under $200?!

As always you have to be clever and bright and only buy things which deserve to be buyed. I bought an Invicta 741 and it cost me under 400 Dollars (bought in USA for Germany) AND IT HAS A SEIKO 8R28 CALIBRE in it (SII NE78A). There is crap and there are jewels - I found a jewel and reacted quickly.

If they're using Seiko movements and other higher quality movements in some of their watches, what makes them shit? Is it because it doesn't say Tag Heuer or Seiko on it that makes them shit? I think most of these brands have people fooled. I'm not spending 2k on a Tag that has the same Seiko movement and is assembled in Hong Kong. Right now I have a $450 citizen sitting on my desk as a fucking paper weight because the piece of shit movement went tits-up. I own quite a few watches and every brand at this level has shit and good quality levels. Yes, even Invicta. The Swiss and Japanese are selling movements to any watch company now.

Style aside, which is up to individual's personal taste, I find Invicta to offer something for everyone's budget, style, and taste. Thank you for your channel which I find very useful, informative, and last but not least, highly entertaining. Seasons Best!👍

  • @Matt-zp8ng

Invicta's are gateway watches IMO. They are meant to be cheap, until owners and collectors can eventually afford the higher end watches (Thats at least how I see them). I own a few that tailor very well to my preferences in what I am looking for in a watch and have served me ZERO issues in the past 5-6 years since I have started my collection of both invicta's and non-invicatas. It's a bit discouraging that this video is called a "review". While you did briefly recite the specs, the title serves no purpose to the actual watch reviewed, and just had a negative connotation the entire video. After reading responses the reviewer has left others who disagree with him, I am expecting something similar here, but like my father always said - "To each his own and provolone", and appreciate the video none the less.

But I've always loved wearing watches. Now let me tell you, the Invictas aren't my favorite watch BUT there a really nice watch for there price points and they are in fact well made despite what people say.People call invicta watches COPIES of other brands of watches, but you know what, copyrights run out eventually and the invicta company can make any type of watch they wish.So who cares what the haters out there say about them.I along with a lot of others like the Invictas aswell ......

So you bought the cheaper little brother model from Costco. Ya I know because I have the better model that cost more and actually has a screw down crown and pushers. I did pick this one up for a cheap version for work. I did return the one like your review because I realized it was made to look like it was better. Remember your review to knock the brand started biased and you picked a cheap model. You also picked a large case model but they have smaller. I do recommend buying from
Costco because there are some problem models and costco is pretty much hassle free. You are right about the MSRP. The only place that I have found going by that tag price is the Invicta Flagship Store. Your review was as honest and useful as the crappy lower model you picked to bash with. Invicta does have its issues just like most other brands and this review.

So because it was a "cheaper" model I should expect a lot less? ALL INVICTAS are garbage no matter which shitty model you buy. So by your logic if I buy an Accord instead of an Acura(both made by Honda) I should fully expect the Accord to be a piece of shit? Your comment was a textbook case of being butthurt now that you realize that $300.00 hunk of junk on your wrist is really worth about $20.00 and real watch enthusiasts are laughing at your utter lack of knowledge about watches...lol.

I own about a dozen watches. None cost over $500 bucks. One is an Invicta monster 63mm Reserve Grand Octane that tends to weigh me down on one side so I walk in semicircles. I paid 5% Retail. Everyone goes crazy over that watch. Where did you get it? How much was it? Can I try it on? No they arent "bonafide watch collectors" and "timepiece connoiseurs". They are just regular everyday people. And I'd much rather hang with them then a bunch of stuck up condescending snobs that think a stupid watch makes you somehow better or worse for owning it. Face it, watches are obsolete. We only wear them for enjoyment. So what difference could it possibly make. None. Get over yourself. When my wristweight eventually breaks, I'll sink it in the canal and use it to tie off my boat.

    • @maverickwatchreviews
      @maverickwatchreviews  8 років тому

This is going to be really fun making you look like the Invicta wearing, watch novice, that I'm sure you are. Firstly, if you own about a dozen watches you obviously don't think they're "obsolete". Anyone that does pay over $500.00 for a watch isn't a snob. It just means that either they wanted and/or had the money to pay more for a better watch or spent $500.00 and had no idea what they were buying...you would fall into the latter category I'm sure. Anyone that goes "crazy" over any Invicta knows nothing about watches. I wonder why Invicta has a "F" RATING from the Better Business Bureau? I wonder why their price tags normally are in the high hundreds ($700-$1400) but usually sell for less than $200.00(and that's even WAY more than their worth). Regular, everyday people can still afford a MUCH better watch for the same price as you would pay for ANY Invicta.  Here's one of my favorite things you said "And I'd much rather hang with them then a bunch of stuck up condescending snobs that think a stupid watch makes you somehow better or worse for owning it" Owning an Invicta and being proud of it doesn't mean you're a bad person or that someone that wears a much better watch for the money(which is just about ANY OTHER BRAND out there) is better than you. It just means you don't KNOW SHIT about watches and/or you're willing to buy something without doing research on it first. Of course we only wear watches for enjoyment as evidence again of the fact that you have twelve of them. But If I am going to wear a watch on my wrist I want to make sure I spent my money WISELY and not on just a piece of MALE FASHION jewelry where no engineering went into making the watch good/accurate/reliable but they instead worried much more about the watch's looks and fake gold and chrome plating. That's what Invicta watches are...HUGE, GAUDY, CHEAPLY MADE, INACCURATE, UNRELIABLE, DOUCHEBAG MAGNETS. So if you can act like people that really care about watches for more than their looks and are willing to spend more for a quality timepiece are "snobs" I can tell you to get over yourself as well. And if none of this made a difference in the first place, according to you,  why did you comment in the first place? Oh and who gives a shit if you have a boat? That was your not so subtle way of trying to brag. I'm sure it's a little 14' dinghy with an electric motor on the back anyway...lol.

I have a Litespeed carbon fiber bike that cost as much as a Rolex. I also have a Wal-Mart "Fat tire " bike that was on sale for 80 bucks. I ride both. What difference does it make to you what I choose to have? Sure I'd love to have Patek Supercomplication, but I'd be afraid to take it out of the safety deposit box. I appreciate nice things, Bruno Magli shoes, Armani super 150 suits, Ferragammo Ties. Zegna shirts. But I also have a linen Banana Republic suit that was $125, that I love. And some Vans sneakers that I wear everywear. I am as we speak ,looking at nicer watches. I thought maybe a Seiko Astron. My remark about "watch snobs" was only directed at that specific subset of watch collectors. It should not have insulted anyone , unless they consider themselves to be as I described. I never speak an insult directly at anyone. If you chose to include yourself, that is not on me. I did not mean to give any impression of wealth. Far from it. I save my money by being frugal. I am on a fixed income. I usually take about 4-6 weeks to research a product before I buy. My Invicta had a ridiculous MSRP of $2500.00 I had read a person should not pay over 10% retail. That would be $250.00 I won an auction from "Wonderdealspot" on EBay for $137.00 I am pleased with my purchase. I wouldn't say I'm "proud" of it. I'm not drivin to buy things unless they appeal to me. Good Luck with your nice watches.

The fanboys saying things like "Reserve models are top of the line" are so off-base it's laughable. Out of 5 or so Invictas I've owned in the past, only one (SAN III) was without QC issues or defects. These included Reserve models, Grand Divers, and a Swiss Made SW500 auto. Lume dots falling off bezels, clasp pins falling out, Flame Fusion aka glorified window glass scratching with light bumps, straps tearing/disintegrating, the list is endless and well-documented. These are not "one-offs" or the exceptions to the rule, folks. These are serious and widespread issues with Invicta's outsourced manufacturers both in East Asia and in Switzerland. Invicta is NOT a "watchmaker"; they design cases and straps, then outsource the manufacturing to the lowest bidder who then have their likely unskilled laborers install other companies' movements inside them. This is why when you have a warranty issue, it can take 3 months to a year to get your watch back even though Invicta is based in Florida. They charge $28 because watches are sent overseas to aforementioned outsourced factories for repair. Invicta makes NOTHING in-house other than their designs.
I refuse to support a company that does not stand behind their products. If you like their designs and are not put off by their snake-oil sales pitches and inflated MSRP's, by all means go for it. I'll stick with REAL watch brands that make quality affordable products like Seiko, CItizen, or Tissot.

      @ryanbishop9530 8 років тому

+MAVS DAD WATCH REVIEWS Years ago I tried to be open-minded about the brand despite being generally aware of their reputation. The inflated MSRP gripe is actually the least of their faults. Their shoddy quality control and AWFUL after-sale customer service are the real problems. Why spend money on a watch at any price when you know in advance that the company won't stand behind it? I had a strap tear clean through the buckle on a reserve model 1 month in after being lightly bumped, but their "5-year Reserve warranty" only covers the movement lol.

    • @pibblesnbits
      @pibblesnbits 8 років тому

+bbq10 The little thing that fell out in addition to the pin is the barrel. The barrel commonly sits in the middle of the link or in some brands the end of the link and holds the pin in place when you slide it in.

I have had an Invicta 8928 OB two tone for about 5 years. It has a Japanese auto mvmt, display back, screw down crown with quick set date and reverse hacking. It has been a great watch so far, but I agree Invictas seem to be going the route of big, ugly and gaudy. If you can get an older model they are cheap and reliable, but Orient or Vostok are better alternatives.

I've heard mixed reviews about Invictas but to give them some credit, I have the 40mm automatic pro diver which copies the Rolex Submariner and mine is great for an $80 dollar watch. It has a screw down crown, cyclops and rubber strap. The materials and finish are great with a solid stainless steel case and see through case back. I've used it at least 50 times to go surfing in the ocean, taken tumbles in 15 foot waves and is definitely waterproof. Although it is a beautiful watch, I put it next to my friends Rolex GMT Master and you can see why their $8000 and up. It blows it out of the water.

You have to pick your invicta watches carefully, their products come at a price range from $70 china/japan/thailand made watches to thousand dollar swiss made watches. But I wouldn't recommend buying it anyways, I'd rather get a tag heuer or maybe even a seiko.

I received mine today from Amazon $ 65.00, this is the 40 mm limited edition model.screw down crown & pushers. Solid case back , not that stupid exhibition case back . lume isn't that great, but invicta is notorious for this. 200 meters water resistance, flame fusion crystal. The best feature on this watch is the bracelet , reminds me of a engineer bracelet. BTW my watch is 009/999... I think it is a great looking watch no matter what I paid for it! I don't think you can find the 40 mm watch anymore, but I have seen the 50 mm case for sale on eBay & they are not limited edition runs. No screw down crown & pushers !

I have a love/hate relationship with Invicta. I love their styles and their bang for the buck, but I hate their customer service and their quality control. After years of buying and selling Invicta watches, I've learned how to manipulate the brand and the company for maximum value and satisfaction. Rule one: Don't buy their cheap watches. Rule two: Don't take their crap! Return, refuse, exchange without hesitation and don't be afraid to beat up their CS. Make sure to put the watch through its paces before the return period ends. Rule three: Bargain hunt.

Well......I just got this exact watch for Christmas. I like the thing. I am by no means an expert on watches but it suits me just fine. I know my wife got it at Costco and I am sure she took advantage of any rebates or discounts that where available. I am a little bummed that your vid is the first one I found when doing a little research on the watch ( I'm not mad bro...LOL ) I will admit it was kinda hard to listen to you with an open mind with the very watch you are bashing upon my wrist. OH well...I normally don't wear watches or any jewelry at all but on occasion I like to have a shiny chunk of metal on my wrist for the rare time when I am not in my work clothes. Also I am a larger man so the "bigness" of it fits my wrist.
I guess if you are a hard core watch guy this one is not up to snuff according to the standards laid out in this review. If you are a regular guy that likes big flashy watches then this is a good buy..I will keep and proudly wear it. My wife thought enough to get it for me so I will wear it in her honor.
Thanks for the review...I did learn some things about watches :)

I like the watch and the ugly logo is very similar to the Chrysler and Bentley logo. For the price I think it's a steal. Invicta is no where close to high end watches and can't expect to have Rolex quality at a Timex price. It's a nice watch and I would warn buyers beware of pitches that would hurt Invicta creditability and discourage consumers to keep investing in this growing brand. I have a couple of Invicta watches and had trouble with only one and I followed the shipping instructions and the issue was fixed. You get what you pay for and definitely a eye catcher. Maybe, just maybe, the 200m water resistance is specified for the watch inside the faux pelican case.
What I think is rather curious is the fact that Invicta actually uses legit movements like that Ronda and the Seiko NH-35A in that Submariner knock off. And then they go ahead and throw those movements under the bus with these crappy watches. Kind of a shame if you think about it.

I have a wide range of watches and movements. Including Invicta ... If your going to go full on bash of a product. Compare apples to apples.
Not a entry level Invicta to; for example mid level Eco Drives... Of course your not going to get the same level of value. No where do I see on any description of this watch anything misleading about the movement ... Swiss Parts Ronda Movement built in Thailand. Which many watch companies do...
There are good Japanese quartz movements as well as Swiss made quartz movement... Swiss Parts are just that ... Clear in the description. Push comes to shove I would prefer a Swiss vs the Japanese... Everyone is entitled to their own opinion... And sense of style, function and value. And personally I would not have chosen this watch for my collection. I just feel some of your facts are a bit skewed on this review... If you know what your looking for and comparing apples to apples there are many Invicta watches that will equal or surpass citizen or seiko.

I think that like most companies, Invicta is a just greedy. I think about 95% of the watches are nothing special, but if you can get something that you think looks beautiful (not the watch in the video- it's hideous) for $100 or less, have fun with it. The MARK's are OUTRAGEOUS, but you also cannot buy watches from the Invicta website, and I have never seen one being sold at the MSRP. As for the other 5%, they do make some that aren't garbage. The challenge is finding one of the good one's at an appropriate price. As someone else commented, they haven't seen an automatic chronograph in either Citizen or Seiko (I don't remember), but they have in Invicta. if that Invicta looks good to that person and is in price range, GET IT! WATCHES ARE JUST TOYS! Beautiful, perfect toys :)
I think what a lot of people love about Invicta, is that they have designs, like the Bolt Zeus, that you can't find anywhere else. When you see that watch, there will be no hesitation of knowing, that's an Invicta! Call it gaudy, but some people like that. I call it unique, and that's why I love my Invictas!

If you have the money, buying something strictly for looks happens in every category of product. That's why nostalgic T-shirts are always cheap quality, because you're only paying for the outside look and every manufacturer of cheap products knows that.
If you're buying a $100 watch, then there's no need to worry about quality, consiering a $10,000+ price is the minimum requirement for luxury watches.

Nothing special, but an automatic that love the look of (I don't consider it gaudy, maybe you do), with a date window that I use everyday at work, and I bought it for about $100. It is literally the most comfortable watch I have ever worn (silicone). To me, the things I just listed make it worth the purchase. I know everyone's criteria are different, but I don't think I can find another silicone automatic with date that's brand new for (i think) $115, AND one that I like the way it looks.

Thanks for taking the time to shed light on the truth. I’ve heard some have collections of sometimes hundreds of these. For that money they could actually have something worth passing along to family.

This is the first time I've seen a transparent caseback on a quartz watch. Someone thought that was a good idea? Nice review Carl.

I was just watching that other person’s channel who claim he hates the haters who hate on Invicta but then he himself takes it upon himself to take shots at anyone who dares oppose his opinion. I love watching his rants, a clueless tool. Thanks for sharing your views on Invicta, I’m sure you’ll be getting more downvotes from his loyal followers!

I agree in part and disagree in others.. yea that particular watch..and yes most of their lineup is crap..
but some prodivers are automatic using the seiko nh35a..which is windage and hackable..and yes had a screw down crown..and does do a decent job as a diver...
will it replace my other divers...he'll no..but for a price point of under 100 dollars you would be hard pressed to get a watch with the seiko nh35a movement and other features...
yes I agree 90% of their watches are trash..but there are a few models that aren't half bad.

Vostok really are a great value. Theres a reason they are called the ak47 of watches. Durable as hell but you arent going to get mega compliments on it unless the person knows watches, then he ll appreciate it. I own 2 of them alingside some of my watches that cost 1000s. The vostok really has an amazing history.

The first time I saw invicta’s is they looked like Knockoffs of premium watch brands.

FWIW, I generally have nothing but disdain for most Invicta watches. Certainly, their marketing, pricing and overall quality are a bit laughable. And of the ones I've looked at, most have "fake" features (non-rotating bezels, incorrect tachymeter pips, non-screw-down crowns, fake sub-dials) that do irk me. But among the thousands of gaudy, ugly models, I occasionally run across one that looks pretty good, and can be had pretty cheaply. I happen to like this one. I picked up a used one on Ebay for $55. I own a small collection of watches, mostly Seikos and Citizens, ranging from $120-$400. I think this one will look at home in my collection, once I buff the scratches out of the bracelet. If it holds up, I'll keep it in the rotation. If not, I've not lost too much. And unlike Invicta's contemporaries, such as Alpha, the bracelets are usually fairly nice. I can always transfer that to one of my other watches. Thanks for the review.PS the transparent back almost turned me away. That is truly ridiculous. But you can't see it while wearing it, so it didn't deter me for long. I figure when it comes time to change the battery, I can coat the inside of the back while it's off to make it opaque, lol.

I dislike many of their watches with a few exceptions. I hardly ever wear the two ridiculously large ones I own, but I love the way their face and crown look and function. These are the SubAqua Noma V and the 16803 Venom Hybrid. They are stated as "Swiss Made" I known they do actually differentiate Swiss Made vs. "Made with Swiss Parts"

i wonder if he worked for invicta and got fired, lol. some people don't have the money to buy expensive watches, but want to have a good looking watch. some women cant afford real designer apparel, so they buy mass produced items. ask any woman, sorry for you bad experience with invicta

+Noah Archive You don't have to spend a lot of money to get an okay watch. There are many very decent watches that are inexpensive. Invicta isn't one of them. It's pure trash. If you want a nice and affordable watch check out Seiko 5s, Seiko 5 Sports, Orients and Citizens.

Thanks a lot for making this video, people should know more about invicta as a brand and their quality.
People seem to think that invicta watches are quality made for some reason.
    Keep up the good work!
