The PUSH SPvP Needed in GW2?

  • I had a chaotic, messy blast with the Push SPvP Beta and I'm sharing my thoughts and even some SPvP Gameplay of myself on Warrior with you all! I hope when Arena Net launches this they really nail it, with some great community feedback I think we can get something we all would love to play! SPvP is something that's needed attention for a long time for a few reasons, and Game mode/Map variety is definitely one of them!

    I still can't understand why after over 10 years, there are no deathmatch arenas like in GW1

      Yeah I'm not sure. Never played GW1, are the miniseason Team Deathmatches not the same?

    Sorry this game mode is DOA. They needed to go more casual meaning more players. Not more 5v5. More players means less responsibility individually which means more casual pvp fans will participate. Was a perfect opportunity for a capture the flag style game mode imo.

      I also thought capture the flag would have been a great change of pace. It's one of the most classic competitive game modes ever lol. I didn't even think about going larger than 5v5 but yeah a 10 man mode would be nice. I think push would be awful for it because it would just be a massive blob, but prefect for a CTF!

      @@syzxgamingx agreed that 10 man would not work for push. But no need to reinvent the wheel here. The blueprint for fun medium scale pvp modes are out there.

    Rush game mode def not fun for me and if they finally implement it, i won't play it. Full of bunker builds. Not my thing. It limits you even more to play a "certain meta" to be usefull, giving us way less efficient builds comparing sPvP.

      I'm hoping that Push will show arena net that they NEED to get some better balance in SPvP. They're sending out direct emails supposedly, and I've seen tons of forum posts in the push beta that literally are just about overall SPvP balance. It's been one of the more consistent complaints people seem to have had for years. However I've long suspected that a really good balance is honestly out of reach for the game. 9 professions, with 3 elite specs and so many different weapons that can all do so many different things. It's so many moving parts. I very much hope Arena Net can find that balance soon. At the very least, if they ignore it after all the hooplah from push, they're signing the certificate of death for SPvP because if making an entirely new game mode specifically to encourage more new people in the game mode isn't enough to motivate a fix, then nothing will be. Smart move from them would be to do a major balance patch with the launch of Push. I'm not sure if they have the technology to do a 'beta' balance patch like they did with beta weapons, but if they do, they absolutely should run a near-final beta of push like a month or two out, with a beta balance patch included, and launch it all at once after final tweaks from beta feedback.

    Beta was bad as pretty much a person who only gets on for a couple pvp games.
    I would just like new pvp conquest maps and wvw map. We need more balance in pvp too. Its not that deep we don't need a new game mode.

      I agree with everything except the fact that we don't need a new game mode. I find conquest super stale. I came up as a WoW Player and very much enjoyed Battlegrounds and Arenas, but SPvP has always existed in this weird space between the two. Battlegrounds were more casual, objective based PvP fun, and Arenas were to actually competitively play in controlled environments. For ranked you can't queue with a full team in SPvP except in Team Deathmatch. I'd rather see them split TDM ranked and Conquest/Push/Stronghold up entirely. I'm not into the whole vibe of competitive PvP with randoms in a 5 man team, trying to climb up the ladder. For me I just feel pigeonholed into playing ranked because I want to work on legendary stuff, but don't care about the ranking at all. But if we could constantly be able to queue for TDM, I'd actually like grabbing a friend or two and trying to climb up the ranks with different team comps and stuff.
      TL;DR I want more fun, objective based modes to play for fun, and a constant, more controllable team deathmatch. But I probably can't have my cake and eat it too.
