Jackie Coogan was best known to Boomers & Gen X'ers as Uncle Fester on the mid 1960's TV show, "The Addams Family" which countinued as reruns for decades.
Probably not a glitch. UA-cam is ultra sensitive to a fault, when child exploitation is even mentioned in a video, because it may reflect bad on Hollywood Elites as well as other Elites to this day.
I always thought it was strange that in most of Shirley Temple movies she is surrounded by grown men.

And they also had little 4 year old boys playing female roles - lying down next to 50 yr old men & touching their faces like women would 😢😢😤😤😤

That part of the story upset me the most. Like how do you end up on government assistance after making over 100 million?? 😢 imagine making that much money as a child and you grow up never seeing not 1 dime.

Sounds like the parents were not particularly smart people ,exploitative yes but not smart , they could have set themselves up for life including their children ,if they hadn’t been so shortsighted . It’s tragic that Peggy’s childhood was sacrificed for nothing , but it’s is wonderful that later she managed to to achieve so much in spite of her rough start thank you for bringing us this story ,I can’t help but wonder if Macaulay Calkin’s parents were present at one of her talks about the reality of life for child stars . If they were is surly didn’t have any impact on them !
Especially being how much cheaper everything was back then! All those stories about buying a loaf of bread for 10 cents or a house for $1 were from that era! Granted, them $1 houses weren't exactly common, but they still existed and weren't necessarily in the ghettos. (A few years ago, I saw "I can be a homeowner for just $1! ....in a Detroit ghetto full of other $1 houses sitting empty for a reason....") But even in today's economy, how tf do you blow through THAT much money?! I could buy a house, furnish it, buy everything on my Amazon Saved for Later, buy my mom a bungalow or condo now that she's older and doesn't wanna f with stairs, buy my man a new vehicle, and still have enough money to live off of while also putting some away for my kids futures. Back then it could have stretched on for generations! Peggy's *babies* should have been set for life from the work she did as a baby!

I actually see some who are putting the money aside in a seperate account for their child for when they become older.. so unlike the parents of yester-years pass I would say even though it's not ALL a good chunk of them are doing just that to set their kids for life...but of course there will still be another good chunk who are going to continue..as Karine said.. the steps may be small but at least steps are being taken unlike yester-year's pass..which can also bring me in to asking if we zoom out a bit on the bigger pyramid of life - why tf boomers act surprised that they've f-cked the economy but im digressing..

As someone who lost 3 of my little cousins in an electrical fire all of whom were under the age of 6, I can’t understand who thought it would be a good idea to put a child is a real burning building. It’s also horrific that the parents ok’d it. 😞

Hollywood had children actors dressing up as grown women. So sad😮 I have never heard of her but thanks for sharing her story. After watching this movie last night "Girl Lost: A Hollywood Story", showcased rich elderly men rather have sexual relations with a minor instead of a grown woman. It was about prostitution. I already known the world was messed up. I feel sorry for Raven Simone, Amanda Bynes, Lindsay Lohan, and many children actors. I'm glad few of them found happiness. They have been through too much as a child. Overworking a child is ridiculous😳
And from there it is only a small step to programs like Toddlers and Tiaras, where girls are dolled up as h***ers pr as Dolly Parton with fake breasts on... 😡

The parents are to blame for these kids being abused and it's all about the money. The same with all these gymnastics. There's no way mothers wouldn't know what's going on with these kids. Young girls in gymnastics and any entertainment need to be protected but parents want the money. Sad.

Beautiful lady who survived a lot of things. Unbelievable that her own parents were her worst enemies. They should have protected her and saved her $ in a trust, by choosing to live modestly . I was born on1970 my parents wanted me to be a Shirley Temple they put me in ballet but the teacher didn't like me and it didn't work out and she was mean. I'm glad I'm not famous even if I'm broke❤

I think now with social media, it’s made it more difficult for them to be sneaky. There’s also real consequences to harming children now verses in the past when they didn’t have laws for these things. But I will say, even with all the progress, these creeps are much bolder in our generation. At least in the past they tried to hide it, now it’s just in our faces 😢

🥀 There’s a very dark documentary (here on YT)about the harrowing treatment of children by Hollywood back then. I couldn’t sleep for months after it. They’d tell them their mother will die if they don’t cry as much, they’d beat their pets in front of them and then film them breaking down. Absolutely heartbreaking!!!
Yes I've seen that video. Absolutely dreadful, the things they did to children back then. They even pretended to shoot a boy's dog, to get him to cry.

I had a cousin who worked as an actor in Hollywood during the 1910s through the 1930s. His niece was offered a job as playing Joe Cobb’s sister in the silent version of the Little Rascals series. She was a plump little girl who would have matched plump Joe Cobb. Her uncle told her parents that child actors had rough lives. Her decided not to allow her to go into acting. My actor cousin did work on The Family Secret, a Baby Peggy film.

I’ve seen a few of her films and watched an interview with her a few years ago. Surprised to see her on your channel. A nice surprise. Didn’t know she had a sad life.
My parents talked about her a lot. She was adored by the older generation. Little did they know. Paul Merton had her as a special guest at one of his silent film festivals.

Read The History of Childhood. Children have NEVER been a priority in our society. Children are the most marginalized demographic ever in society. The perfect victims. Also read Alice Miller books. She explains that most ppl have children for narcissistic reasons. Secretly parents hold their children in CONTEMPT. Children are being murdered everyday in our society. Look at all these cases & trials today. I can barely keep up with these trials. I am a childhood trauma survivor, so I know first hand. I went no contact from my family of origin over 20 years ago.
