Thank you for these videos, they're a *fantastic* look into "whatever happened to _____?" But, in the most kind & respectful way. Some other channels dwell upon the mostly negative or shocking aspects of the person's personal life or career moves, just for views. It's all just so unnecessary tho. I will NEVER understand how these parents fell for these Groomers lies! My dad had a “friend” (now I realize he was a pedo file) that kept pushing my dad to have my sister and I go into modeling. My dad shut him down real quick. I resented my dad as a young girl but when I became a mom I thanked him. If parents don’t protect their children no one else will.

It's easy to say you don't understand how people can fall for their lies but it's only NOW that you realise your father's friend was a groomer...so that's how easy it is to groom children because you said it yourself, you resented your father at the time.
Those types of actor's are the masters of deception and therefore can fool anyone that doesn't have a trained eye.

I had 3 top agencies in Los Angeles for print work, commercials, music videos. I went to Tokyo for a commercial ad and flew first class. I got callbacks on all my auditions. I couldn't do it. The superficiality of it all was the opposite of who I am. I wasn't willing to play the game and was unhappy . The drugs, the late nights and the seediness of the entertainment industry was repulsive to me so to be true to myself I quit and never looked back. You HAVE to sacrifice your integrity to be successful in this industry. You're treated like a piece of meat....

No, that's taking it too far. Teach them well, and let them have more and more freedom as they get older - they're going to need to know how to stand on their own two feet. By the time they're 18, they should know how to get around by themselves and how to handle themselves in different situations.
Too many parents these days treat their teenagers like babies, and then when they go off to college they have no idea how to act responsibly. They use their newfound freedom to do all sorts of dumb things. It's a parent's job to help their kids grow up, not to prevent them from experiencing life.
Let them know they can come to you with any issues and if they've made mistakes it's OK, you will be there for them. Give them the information to know how to handle what comes, like when gross old men hit on them.

    • @kumaranvij
      @kumaranvij Місяць тому +8

@@lydiapicano8806 Well, what I wrote before is how it was thought of then. I definitely think we (I'm 45) had an unhealthy view of it back in the 80s and 90s.
However, never to let your kid go away without you is extreme. After all, they'll be away from the house altogether eventually, and they'll need practice so they can learn how to live without their parents always being there.
I think sleepovers are good, with other girls, when you're a kid. And when I was 16, I stayed for a month with a French friend in France and Spain. It was such a wonderful, enriching experience. I learned about myself and the world, got to experience something new. Nothing bad happened. Her family was very trustworthy.
When I was 17, I spent a month backpacking in Greece with my best friend. "Small" bad things happened to me. I went out once without her at night and a bunch of boys surrounded me and felt me up! Over my clothes. But though I still remember it and it was a negative experience, it wasn't what I'd call traumatic. It was definitely a learning experience.
I think communication between parent and child is key. I didn't have that with my mom, and I wish I had. But people have to start separating from their parents. It should happen little by little, not all at once when they finally leave the house at 18 or so.

    • @lydiapicano8806
      @lydiapicano8806 Місяць тому +11

I agree with you to a point but a sleepover with a trusted family is one thing and allowing your 14 yr old daughter to go to Europe with strangers is another. A parent needs to protect their children while allowing them to grow and experience life ( not easy).

@KarineAlourde I am same age as Cindy Crawford and remember all of these models, including Stephanie. It wasn't just the modeling industry. Brooke Shields and I are also same age. I remember all us teen girls dressed in revealing clothes and were regularly cat called and hit on by much older men. It was kind of normal back then. My Mom would closely follow Brooke's career. I think she thought I could also be in the industry back then at the time. I didn't pursue it though as I lived in Midwest and went to one modeling call. They stated my face was exotic and they were looking for more plain. It was weird. We were pretty used to being sexualized very young. I think the main reason was that not many women were going into careers other than teaching, nursing and secretary jobs. It was still sort of expected that we would marry, have kids and be housewives. So we were expected to look good to find a husband and older men often were often financially more stable. It really changed about 5 years after that. You will find women Doctors and lawyers about 5 years younger than myself but very few my age. We had home economics in school that taught cooking, sewing and childcare. Real careers were more a focus a few years later.

@@lisascorp~ I'm a couple of years older than Brooke Shields, and it was in no way normal for me or any of my friends to dress in revealing or provocative clothes. None of us would have been let out of the house (and no, my family wasn't ultra-religious). I was instilled in me at a young age to dress respectfully and to act like a lady.

@@tooma4886 It's possible it was the area in NW Chicago Suburbs. I usually had classic tastes and wore dresses (still do fairly often) but I remember Summers w spaghetti strap little tops and the shorts and cut offs were really short. Seemed to be the style in our neighborhood (middle class) I guess I do remember seeing Bermuda shorts etc in stores as well, but they looked like "Mom" shorts. (at the time) I think our parents made no mention as they probably felt we were just skinny little flat chested girls at the time I didn't get a chest until I had children. Both boys, so attire was much easier with them than setting limits on choices for daughters.

But, her privileged children including her late son Harry had been exposed to her own drug use and alleged infidelity between Stephanie and her husband Peter. It doesn't help that Stephanie was taken advantage of by John Casablancas. She more than likely is dealing with bouts of alcoholism and drug use due to her being sexualized at such a young age. Thank you for sharing this video. I learned so much about this amazing and disturbing talent. It goes to show you how powerful "Grooming" is on the psyche, it gave her a lack of boundaries-- she has none. She's gotten a pass on many things due to her beauty it's just that simple. Her parents and Casablanca should have all been put into jail. That was child trafficking for money and fame. Her mother sounds very self-serving.
It's a disgusting truth that most child trafficking transactions occur between family members, family friends and acquaintances; it's not the stranger danger high numbers that society wants to you believe. I've attended Human Trafficking conference and the stories of grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles are horrific. She was damaged at an extremely young and impressionable age. Another sad tell of "messing with children," (that's what folks called it when I was growing up) will do to their normalcy and functionality in life. Their brains become rewired and it shows in all aspects of their interpersonal relationships, as with Stephanie's. I'm grateful that you took the time to create this video for us, because we need to peer behind the curtains of glamour, fame and fortune more often.

I live in NYC, work in fashion and go the Hamptons a few times each summer. The reputation this family within the community is not good. She was often seen in public blitzed out of her mind. And her sons were entitled brats who people made fun of behind their backs.

As a 12 year old when I first saw her doing that makeup line she used to do I thought she was gorgeous. Then as a teen I loved GNR and absolutely was in love with them and Dint Cry and November Rain she killed it and was stunning then I used to buy Victoria Secret clothes she was stunning in the magazines and then she disappeared married and old rich white man and seemed to raise to spoiled rotten entitled brats ( not her oldest so idk anything about him), but I did hear about her pill addiction which I can relate to I struggled for many years. It’s sad even before her sons death which I can thoroughly understand that pain via my cousins death at barely 19 and watching him pass in a car accident, she seemed to be very unhappy and unfulfilled money definitely cannot buy happiness and this Uber wealthy family seems to be the epitome of that. I’m sure having an affair with John Casablanca at 15 or 16 didn’t help. She needs Jesus and lots and lots of therapy. She was very beautiful, but definitely not as beautiful as Cindy Crawford and if you look back it seems she might have gotten a nose job at a very young age which I think Cindy Crawford had one too just a little tweakment at a young age either way both gorgeous one just aged much better and seemed to make way better choices.

    Maruschka Detmers
I once saw an interview with Maruschka Detmers in her forties.
The interviewer did not know her personally, but was fascinated by the picture that was presented to him so far by the media.
    An exciting woman, sexually free.
But it turned out to be completely different.
Maruschka Detmers said, she was not that woman.
Old men did manipulate her into things, she can not identify with.
It took her many years of psychotherapie to get over it.
And Maruschka was in her early twenties already when shown nude and free to a large audience by old men.
Guess, what this does to a teenager.
I am almost certain, Stephanie Seymour is still not aware, what happened to her.
That might be the reason she ended up as a drunk.
Eva Ionseco was a toddlerwoman. She was sexy already in diapers.
She might have been the youngest childwoman in playboy.
She had to become sixty to be able to speak out against it.
She made an interesting movie about it.

I would love to know what happened to Karen Moulder and Noémie Lenoir. They were both stunning models who had breakdowns. I imagine they both suffered in the industry even though they had very successful careers.
One of my mom’s fave from the 90s was French supermodel Chrystèle Saint-Louis Augustin soon. She rocked a fro in the 90s. She was very fair skinned with blue eyes, however she was of Caribbean , black ancestry. She is so underrated.

I don't think there's anything super weird about those photos. It's just that she's in a bikini, if she was wearing a shirt it wouldnt really look like he's touching her boob, he was more hugging her in. And the kiss is not a big deal either, I think it's angle.

The photos with Stephanie and son don't tell the whole story. You need the video to judge if this was inappropriate. His hand had most likely brushed against Stephanie's chest. The photog just causht it at the right moment.
Also Stephanie's husband Peter lost another son years before. It sucks to outlive two of your children.

🔥Wow! Great video. She was seen as an out of control, bratty supermodel back in the day; pretty but bad tempered. I had no idea she had been exploited by her manager and her family. If she wanted to model, she should have been able to do so while protected. Women really suffer. It is tragic. Even in the 80s and 90s their relationship would have been seen as illegal and exploitative, but the men covered for each other more back then, so it was hidden. It was like the good old boy’s circuit and women were torn up in all of it. If her parents had fought for her though, she would have been safe, but probably lost her career. Men in all industries were looking for “agreeable” and easy access to work or whatever. I wish I could say “this is how it USED to be”, but unfortunately due to recent events and news that continues to surface, it seems the entertainment industry is still sick. We need to do better by our children!
