Dude, on your narrow end table project wood; Use a Hand Plain (medium size) to plain down the edges or center of your pieces accordingly to make them flat, it will take all the gaps out. It is quick and easy, AND it will hone your skills and without the cost of a Plainer or Jointer which are many hundreds each. A good Hand Plain even today is about $30, less if you look around for a used one; on the internet or at garage sales. Practice on old wood, fence pickets, etc. Remember to always go WITH the grain, yes, you will have to learn how to read the wood, which ALL wood workers need to do. Also, make yourself a Shooting Board that will make a pro out of any beginner, they make perfect edges/board pieces in seconds. Make sure to keep all your Hand Plains sharp before use. Anything worth doing is worth doing right the first time.
I do have one hand plain that I got from Lowes. I think its a Kobalt. I have a hard time trying to figure out how to adjust it.😂 I have been wanting to get into hand planing but I have to make the jigs and figure out how to sharpen them and all that. Man, thanks for the tip on measuring the frame, I have struggled to make a good fitting frame, gonna go try it today. One suggestion, I don’t have a diode laser but on mine I learned if you are doing a lot of writing I place my deck so the laser is out of focus a little further away than recommended and it darkens up the letter very nicely. Give it a try
Thanks for the comment, I am glad you found some value in the video. I heard that about putting the laser out of focus but I don't think I have a setting for that. I can just only adjust power and speed. I think I need to turn the power up maybe.
Oh is that to hold the backing in? That's a good idea, thanks for the tip. I have to get used to this thing so I can incorporate it into my work flow.!

Great video so thanks for all those tips. As for your farts🤣my wife told me once that when she went shopping with my daughter, i think it was Aldi, she said there was an old bloke a pensioner walking in front of them and suddenly he let off a loud fart that everyone in that aisle at the time looked around sniggering, the pensioner turns round and says "sorry, it's the prunes you know" and next minute everyone was laughing, and that fart you did in the dollar store sketch just reminded me of that story. Take Care. Barry (UK)

Wish X-Tool would help me out. It so expensive to start up a woodworking business I’m have way there with the tools I need. I’m buying 1 tool at a time. Can’t wait to get the X-Tool
I was actually interested in those specific drillbits that you had. Do those happen to have flat spots ground for the stop collars? If you buy a larger size oak dowel that will get you contrasting wood and it will be a larger size so you can use the other drillbit. Of course, it means a trip to the store too.
the drill bits I have with the brad point do have a flat spot for a stop collar. I'm not sure about the regular bit, Ill have to look. Thanks for the tip on the oak dowel. I actually went last weekend and got a walnut dowel bigger than the one I used. I'm going to drill over the dowel I used about 1/4 of an inch deep and then use the walnut dowels. Thanks for the comment.

You may be right, I am never surprised when I hear about something new that's been around forever. It happens to me all the time.😂😂 Thank you so much for the comment and the encouragement.
Look at you big ballin' with the S1. That's the laser I wanted but since I'm not as cool as you I settled for the Ortur Laser Master 3 to start out with. 😂 I gotta know, did your wife really let you hang that in the bathroom? 🤣 Good stuff as usual. Keep it up.
You just have to make fart videos on UA-cam and they will send you one! 😂😂😂 No she didn't let me hang it in the bathroom. She's gotta get sainthood for putting up with me! 😂
@@jascogoods , hey, just a quick video idea for ya, on the cheap things that make good money front....I was making some wooden earrings on my laser last night and thought, hmm, I bet he could do a video on this. I took a $2 12x12 piece of 1/8" Birch plywood, stained it, and cut 18 pairs of earrings out of it. That comes out to about eleven cents per pair. The hooks and stain add maybe another $.40-.50 per pair. So, it costs maybe $9 to produce these 18 pairs of earrings, which I sell for $8/pair. 18 pairs of earrings at $8 per pair is $144. Pretty good profit margin. Anyway, just thought I would share that with ya. Do with it what you will.
Can you show me how you market and sell items? Because that is what's it all about...... you can make, but if not properly marketing it means nothing..... please share....
I don't know exactly what drill bits your using, but some bits will cut cleaner if you run them in reverse first. It scores the wood before the actual task.
Ill have to try that, thanks for the tip. Am I using the wrong kind? I just have a bunch of drill bits in a drawer that I pulled this out of so I'm not 100 % sure where this one came from.
@@jascogoods I don't think you are. I often prefer brad point bits because they don't wander. And the sharper they are, the faster they dig in. especially on soft woods. I have a basket full of various bits I've collected over the years next to my drill. I probably need to sort them one day. I say "one day" because that's probably how long it'll take. LoL! Thanks again for a great video. Always keep me thinking.
I'm very limited on what I can purchase. I have a set of dewalt bits. One thing I noticed is anything over 3/8ths it's just tares every thing up, slow speep/high speed regardless. Forstner bits work a little better. But still has tare out. Flip/flop, tape / backing board just don't get it.
@@MrTrecutter1 I understand your frustration. I have some cheap bits too, and as I mentioned to Jascogoods, I sometimes run the bits in reverse. On a drill press, that means I have to physically turn the bit backwards. This cuts the top fibers of wood, making a score line of sorts, and then run the bit normal. Don't cut all the way through and then repeat the process. Yes, it can be time consuming, but it does prevent tear out. Also, and I'm not complaining, I'm a 100% Disabled Vet, so I too am on a limited income. I have purchase many quality tools, bits, and blades from garage sales, flea markets, and pawn shops. So there are options to get quality items at a lower price. I hope this helps and God bless.
They are probably zipped so you have to unzip them first. There are free zip apps you can use. I'm not familiar with easel but my xtool software uses svg files so i would imaging yours would too. You can usually only open them with the program.
@@jascogoods didn't say plugs. If you screwed it together, I get it. But you used the dowel pins in the first one so I was just a bit confused. I get like that. Get the munchies too much
Doesn’t matter how old you are, farts are just funny. Don’t know if your x-tool will let you but try backing off the laser spacing so it’s out of focus and it will darken the lettering. I have a co2 and it works great for me,
My wife is still waiting for me to grow up!! 😂😂 I will have to try the backing off thing. This is the first stuff I've done with this thing. I am excited to learn more and figure it out. Thank you for the comment and the tip.
I really want a cnc too!. You can really batch out a lot of projects with one of those. There's a video on UA-cam about a woodworker that made a ton of money making these wallet / watch/ side table trays and selling them on Etsy. he used a cnc to make a bunch at once. You could probably look through Etsy for ideas of what people are making with them.
Way too many fart jokes in 1 video. Was like someone telling a joke, then telling it 10 more times to the same people at the same party, during the same conversation. Great video, and the gag was funny the first time- just not the next 9
I get it, my wife says the same thing about me. I am a package deal with the gas, if she can't edit them out of her experience with me why should you get to? 😂😂😂 thank you for your comment.
honestly we need to talk about labor not the cheapest materials we got. it's not good talk: 1 dolar piece of wood and scraps of scraps... what about thousands of dollars invested in tools? so it's worth to be paid for what you've been done even with one dollar piece of ... whatever
Now I have to comment (🌮 🫘⛽💨😷) again.. that wasn't me, you heard a duck 🦆💨 quack, 🤣🤣🤣. I went to school to be an illustrator and did a little design. Never got to pursue it. I was a stay at home mom, kids moved out now. I bought all this stuff to do my own thing. Then....I injured my right arm so bad that my doc said I might not be able to use it correctly any more. I took up wood working and painting to get my arm to work right again. So I don't do anything in bulk, just mess around. If a friend wants something, I might give in. I have drawings that would make great Christmas wood round ornaments. If you ever need someone on the side 😁 with some ideas 😉. Question, why didn't you buy the, wood picture frames from the Dollar Store? They are already cut out, one piece of wood, and come in different designs. Just curious is all. Did you want your own handmade frame? If I had a laser machine thing, like you, I would have bought the store out 😂. Dollar store is my #1 go to for just about anything. I have a tip for you also for laser printing, it's a secret 🤫 I don't want to really say what it is on social media. Chi-miigwech again for the awesome video. All I put in the search bar was how to make a cork board and you showed up 😊. Bamapappi! Have a great weekend!
Your comment had me rolling the whole time!! 😂😂😂 You remind me of my friends in San Diego!! I went to jr high and Highschool there and some of my best friends still live there. You are funny, You should start a youtube page for your woodworking or your drawings. You seem to have many talents, there has to be something you can do to make UA-cam videos. Or if you like collecting money just keep making those videos but put your personality in it and it will take off. UA-cam pays good too. The reason I like UA-cam better than making bulk items is because its always different projects and you can take your time doing them. I don't remember seeing real wood frames at the dollar store But I wanted to make a bigger one and I think the hand made looks better if you use strain and clearcoat. Thank you for your encouraging comment, I appreciate it.

No Problem. I will add it into the next video I make about selling items.
"Git to building" True Dat!..
Right! 🤣 it doesn't mean nothing if you don't do that part.
We bought some laser / router files but can't figure how to open them. We have easel
They are probably zipped so you have to unzip them first. There are free zip apps you can use. I'm not familiar with easel but my xtool software uses svg files so i would imaging yours would too. You can usually only open them with the program.
@jascogoods thank you
Fyi I just subscribed thanks to Spiderman, give that guy a raise 💰 😅
😂 Thanks, he needs the money since he just started collage!!
U forgot the dowels on the engraved napkin holder. End grain to face grain
Thank you, I didn't have any face grain plugs but I got a plug cutter so I can make my own.
@@jascogoods didn't say plugs. If you screwed it together, I get it. But you used the dowel pins in the first one so I was just a bit confused. I get like that. Get the munchies too much
Sooooooo, how much is this Lazer printer?
It depends on what one you get. The one I am using was $770 through the UA-cam link. But I know they have cheaper ones that aren't enclosed
@@jascogoods is it hard to learn?
Went to your etsy site to buy them but only saw shirts for sale and no napkin holders 😢
Sorry, I haven't put stuff back on my etsy yet. I am trying to build up my UA-cam and its really hard to do both.
How much does that machine cost
It depends on the kit and laser you get but it starts at $850
1st comment my man!
😂😂😂 congratulations!! Thank you for the comment!
@@jascogoods every comment helps spread your videos, anything to help you out! I enjoy your videos man keep it up
Doesn’t matter how old you are, farts are just funny.
How much is an S1
Anywhere from $800 to $1500 depending on the package you get.
Lingerie 🤣 That fit is poyfect! Congrats on your new toy JASCO 🎉🎉
ADADABAGLUE 🤘🏼Love BVW 💜
Thank you so much!! I appreciate the love and encouragement.
“Who let the dogs out, woof, woof, woof!”
That is going in the concert rotation!! 😂😂😂 Thanks
Already own a CNC but having a real hard time figuring out what products to focus on..
Thank you!!
What's Up?
Not much what's up with you??
Oh man! Farting during the video is very nasty thing to do - the odour spreads overseas!
😂😂😂 sorry my UA-cam coach said to just act natural. I guess I took it overboard.
Way too many fart jokes in 1 video. Was like someone telling a joke, then telling it 10 more times to the same people at the same party, during the same conversation. Great video, and the gag was funny the first time- just not the next 9
Thank you, I appreciate the comment. Did my wife put you up to saying this because she tells me this 5 times a day.
@@jascogoods No, I put her up to saying it 5 times a day. This is all an elaborate plot and you've only been made aware of the first layer
I would have enjoyed your videos but I do not enjoy listening to your gas.
I get it, my wife says the same thing about me. I am a package deal with the gas, if she can't edit them out of her experience with me why should you get to? 😂😂😂 thank you for your comment.
Your using an engraver and calling it woodworking ?…
That is rather sad
If what I call things makes you sad, you might want to get on an antidepressant. 😂😂😂
honestly we need to talk about labor not the cheapest materials we got. it's not good talk: 1 dolar piece of wood and scraps of scraps... what about thousands of dollars invested in tools? so it's worth to be paid for what you've been done even with one dollar piece of ... whatever
i'm not really following what you are saying.
Thanks for sharing your story and experience, fascinating to watching your projects come to life. I’m just a woodworking fan. Your sound effects are bringing me laughter. ? Have you thought about making your napkin holders with an engraved letter in every letter of the abc’s ? Maybe accept preorders too ? Beautiful works of art. Much thanks ! 👍 👋
Thank you so much for the encouraging comment, I appreciate it. I actually downloaded some letter from etsy to use in the laser engraver. Ill post a picture when I make one. Thank you for the comment and the idea.
