    Hi,
    Sorry if this is alreqdy covered elsewhere. Can you pet me know what type of material is used for the reusable stencils? They appeqr to be vinyl, with an adhesive quality to them that looks helpful in preventing slippage while applying the gel. If they are a particular brand, or if there isna range of manufacturers, would you please share that as well? Also, any idea of how many times they can be reused.

    I got the little sample kit and this process didn't work on that little piece of wood. After 3 hits of my heat-press, it wasn't changed in color at all so I decided to just hit it with my heat gun in case I had somehow put down the paste wrong. That worked (although I scorched my sample - lol!). I wonder if the number of hits will vary by the wood itself? I've got another little wood project that looks like it is made out of the same type of wood as your ornaments so I'll give that a try. I have several of them to do at a time so I'm hoping I can figure out how to get the gel to activate with my press. Thank you for sharing this and for stressing to use increments. I likely would have gotten over-anxious and scorched my real projects or given up - but now I know to just give it a short hit each time. If it doesn't work with the next wood pieces I'll just stick with my heat gun but I really like this little paste. It has lots of fun potential!

    • @HVACRTECH-83
      @HVACRTECH-83 Рік тому +1

      No, you can stain the wood after you burn in your design just don't stain the wood first as it won't work properly. I've been doing actual wood burning for over 20 years w wood burning tools and I've tried this method although not with the product she is using. I made my own paste. It's very cheap and easy to make your own and lasts along time even after it's all mixed. I really only use it if it's a complicated design and don't have time. It really does work great but I do prefer wood burning tools because with this method you don't get any depth to your design whatsoever. But I've stained the wood afterwords and sealed with poly and I've also used lacquer and the results are fantastic for fake wood burning for lack of a better term

    So I bought torch paste and tried it on a wood tree slice from a branch from my backyard. I made a vinyl stencil, and I applied the torch paste. I let it sit for a few minutes. Then I removed the stencil and placed it under my Cricut Easy Press for 15 seconds at 400 degrees. I didn't touch the Easy Press to the wood. I let it hover above it like in the video. Then I did four rounds of the Easy Press at 400 degrees on the wood slice. However, I didn't have butcher paper. I was worried the paste would leave stains on my teflon sheets, so I just used a the backing sheet from a piece of contact paper, and I put that over my wood slice as a barrier between the Easy Press and the wood. But no matter how many times I hit it with the Easy Press, the wording is still orange- like I'm talking Orange soda orange. It definitely doesn't look like the wood burn effect. Is it because I'm not using butcher paper? Even before I put it under the Easy Press, the color of the torch paste after I removed the vinyl stencil was a much brighter orange than what it looks like in your video. Any tips??? What am I doing wrong? Is the lack of butcher paper the secret here that is causing my orange effect to happen?

    Can you use this paste on wood with a Cricut Heat Press? Do you think it would work like a regular heat press?

      Hi! Yes, the Easy Press 2 can go up to 400 degrees so it should work very similarly to using the full heat press here.
