Just for you information....Blades do not turn with wind on a 139 even if the wind is blowing at 30 kts. The hydraulic pump mentioned is the electrical pump on the n1 side who is only used to do the flight control check on the ground only. it provide 105 bars only, you need 205 bars to fly the aircraft, it is provided by 3 pumps driven by the main gearbox. Hover mode is available from 30 ft minimum and require ATT mode selected, it does not work on SAS mode like any other flight Director mode. The aircraft model design is impressive, it is like a real one. They did a fantastic job.
Very nice to see a very fidelity aircraft as this, I'm a Era Legacy (Brazil) aircraft maintenance technician, I work with this aircraft, very close to reality.
I think the Autohover is a lifesaver. Especially when you activate force trim with it. It will stay in one place, rock solid, while you go to the kitchen and make a snack... Not that I recommend you go to the kitchen and make a snack while flying... But you COULD!
If You haven't found it already, there's a fix for the jaggede shadows in the cockpit, search "Jagged shadows X-plane 11".... Thanks for sharing, beautiful bird....
Just for info as im itching to say... The button he is pressing for the hydraulic pump is actually the electric pump, its used for control checks before startup.
Great tutorial, thanks BelGeode. Also I agree, this is a beautiful helicopter and the autohover helps a lot. We expect more AW139 tutorials for flight, setting a route and especially for landing. Finally I ask you if you can show your Saitek and keyboard settings. Cheers.
I can't show them on this, but I might be able to post on Facebook. Problem is I use many different settings in X-Plane. I have profiles for each category of aircraft, and some aircraft specific like Osprey or Tornado. I think for this one I used my general helicopter setup..I will take a look when I get home.
You are welcome. This is now a little dated, so to be sure, check with the developer on their website (listed in the video description) to see if anything has been affected by updates. It really should not have changed the procedures, but you never know.
Don't recall, since I am not at home (currently on vacation). But it should be in the list of keybinds available, and can be assigned to any key or button on your cyclic.
I saw you mentioned raise the collective and pull back the cyclic. How do you do thatr? Are you using Joystick or keyboard? I cannot get the helicopter Collective lever up.
I use HOTAS. I think back when I made this video I was using the Saitek X-52. I do not think I had switched to the Virpil controls I use now. The keybinds are all in your x-plane settings. There are helicopter based settings you can assign to any control you want. Assign cyclic to joystick, and collective to throttle. Do not use keyboard.
Has anyone else noticed the thing has no, as yet, transponder? There is one referenced in the .acf file, and the MFD reads “xpndr off”-but there clearly isn’t one on the pedestal. Also, the manual shows a completely different layout to the pedestal...
I am not sure any of them really classify as "study level". But I suppose the one you are watching in this video is one of the most in depth. This and the Nimbus Huey. I would also say the Bell 412 by X-Trident ranks up there.
I had to check which video this comment was placed upon, because i get these messages on my phone. Back then i used Dxtory. Now I use AMD ReLive, which comes with my Radeon VII GPU.
One of the switches in the center console I believe. Sorry I am not by the computer right now, so I cannot check. It may be listed in the manual, but I am not 100% sure. I think they updated it since this video was made.
Thank you very much for your excellent tutorial for AW139. It really helped me out. Please can I ask where can I find the Aw139 user guide? It’s not in the aircraft files? Many thanks Martin 🚁
I mentioned how in the video. I have a key bound to auto hover. That key is also a button on my joystick. I pushed the button. You have to assign the key yourself.
Hello! Nice video and helpful, one question, what is the control type you are using to show lists and controls and zoom on the cockpit? I would like one like that!!!
Hey, really great Video, love this bird, too! But one Question: Sometimes, when I shut down the Aircraft and want to fire it up again, the ITT-value decreases to a Level that seems to be to low for starting the engines and so Nothing happens. How can i Prevent this? Kind regards
I always get notifications on my phone. It just takes a little while to figure out which video the comment is on. But I asked them. Waiting now. Will either copy the answer here, or ask the dev to reply to this.
His reply- " He’s maybe using an earlier version, where problem was related to electric plant, ITT it’s a consequence." Update to RC5, the latest version that released yesterday, that should resolve the issue. Make sure you are signed up on the x-rotors.com page, to view your account and download links.
Do you have keybinds for autopilot set up for any of your aircraft? Autopilot servos toggle Altitude hold That's really all you need. You can turn while on alt hold.
Oh wait you are commenting on a different video than I thought. Yeah with this helicopter you need to set up a different autopilot command called force trim. Once THAT is activated, then you can activate the regular autopilot command (on/off), and all the others like heading hold, nav hold, alt hold, etc. But the key is force trim. Without that on, it will not allow you to get out of ATT mode.
When I go in game it tells me that I don't have license for the heli! But when I installed it I copy-pasted the email and serial key to install it, any clues?

Awesome! Yes she seens like a very nice helo!
Good tutorial, easy to follow. A striking similarity to the UH-60 blackhawk.
Yeah it does have some similarity. I should probably make an updated video though. This is old. I don't even use xp11 anymore.
I really like this helo. It doesn't have the tendency to want to kill you while flying. Worth the money I spent. Thanks for your help.

Could be not modeled, or automatic. I will have to ask the developer.
The transponder is housed withing the Primus Epic System and accessible through the MCDU radio page,

In settings look for x-rotors and you will see the command for auto hover. Set your own keybind.

How would you compare this helicopter, in level of detail (Systems/modeling etc) to other x plane helicopter?
Depends on the helicopter. It is about as deep as say X-Trident Bell 412.
