So frustrating that I was complaining about the terrible ground effect of the helis on release and everyone told me I just dont know what Im doing. Now people are finding out... :/
No, everyone did not tell you that. The official forum is full of people acknowledging the ground effect bug in the sim and demanding it be fixed, right from the first days of release.

I attempted to complete the helicopter training. Passed sessions up until the, i believe, 'cyclic' training. The helicopter was completely out of control once the "trainer" released all control to me. Tried many times. I found controlling the helicopter to be a huge pain, very difficult, Not fun. I'm just very disappointed with the sim as a whole. In the areas I've seen, there is little to no appreciable difference in graphics compared to 2020. 2020 photogrammetry is just as good. The career mode, which was the main buying point for me, is an incredible Borefest. Totally monotonous and devoid of all fun.
It's more interesting when you fly to a truck to refuel, and it's standing in the middle of a tree. : ) Or earn and buy Robinson 66 in your company, fly, complete the mission, but you won't be able to complete it, because there won't be the necessary buttons to complete it : )
I fly fixed wing, and it does the same thing. I have literal 100's of hours in a C208. After I had saved enought to buy one for medimum freight, it crashed on the first landing. Somehow, at 65kts, it went vertical to about 300' agl then stalled the left wing and lawn darted. 4M credits, gone.
It’s too bad the game is such trash. If you ignore all the ridiculous non-tested software bugs, the visuals look stunning. Also, you must be a good helicopter pilot because landing on the truck would not be easy. I owned this product for one day and could not stand the glitches and bugs so I asked for a refund.
Why pay staff when they got customers to pay for the faulty product then work for free as beta testers. Also,so many influencers praised it. I don’t believe they knew nothing about the issues.
Thats how it is these days. Promise so much, tease us with awesome videos and teasers then make people pay $100+ for a game that does the bare minimum. Ill be staying on msfs2020 for a while, ive got a lot of purchases for scenery, airports and aircraft and i wont switch until I need to
I am a game developer, and it's the same problem with Epic and UNREAL 5.5 They threw everything , (feature -wise), into the ENGINE, and turned it into an unstable monster. I have dealt with this problem with numerous other companies. THEY don't care, as long as they get paid. But, what M.S is doing, is borderline criminal. THEY are selling a broken product, and getting away with it. I stop supporting MS. years ago, when it came to gaming.
This game makes 2020 the better sim. There is no heli trim, which sucks for the spring stick users. Many of the aircraft are broken, including my beloved 407.. Just so many lack of details that was advertised in trailers and early gameplays.
Sup SimFocused lol how have u been? Cant wait for 407 mod for mfs2024! ty for your comment. About trimming, from what I recollect the h125 came out without trimming surfaces but they added a few days after release. What is making me still play 2024 is the force trim button that works with every helicopter but the H125. I don't care because native H125 is garbage anyway. But it's awesome to have the force trim available for the native R66 and paywares, it really enhances the piloting specially flying Robinsons that don't have trim buttons in RL, only the string to force release trim :)
@@rotorcraftsimulation haha, I know who Simfocus is, but I am not officially them I haven’t really tested the trim on the other helicopters, but even with the 407, it’s broken in ways. The H125 is the better helicopter to fly, but it can be twitchy and tricky at times. I prefer trim for long haul flights where long inputs are needed…and some joysticks like mine have jitter in the potentiometers..which can interrupt precise inputs
Who came up with the idea to land ur helicopter on a truck to load fertilizer? Part of the reason I stopped playing msfs 2024 is how bad the game is implemented
I totally understand your frustration. I dip my toes in rotary craft every now and then But mostly a fixed wing guy. microsoft flight simulator 2024 was just not ready for primetime. I still think they had a deadline to meet and they had to release it become hell or high water. And we got both hell and high water. They will get it fixed over time, And at the end of the day before the next released it will be polished. I know that's not how you're supposed to release a product I get it. the takeaway I got with this release is never go all in like I did buying the aviators edition. next time when the next version comes around i'll do the bare minimum. after all I'm still a desktop aviator and I enjoy aviation. Microsoft flight simulator product needs competition, And somebody somewhere down the road will give them a run for their money. but until them on a consumer level they have an monopoly. X planes got the systems modeling and the flight modeling down. but as of this post, they are light years behind in graphic fidelity. which is truly sad but it is what it is. the argument you can make is X plane 12 is the best flight simulator for the Linux platform hands down. that's just the way it goes. My thoughts
I feel extra bad for you paw, I'm playing through Xbox game pass. Nowadays it isn't worth purchasing any game during pré-sales, most triple A producers don't seem to care about the release, as sad as it may sound, it's true. X-Plane is still delivering what it promotes. Unfortunately, they don't have the resources to provide better graphics, but that was never their purpose, so customers stay happy as it is. What matters for Laminar is real-life physics, and they are able to be the best in this field (even beyond DCS, in my opinion). Asobo is getting closer and closer to having something like X-plane physics, but will never be the same. I feel like the R66 from Asobo is the closest they could get. We are indeed moving forward but unfortunately slow-paced. Anyway thanks for sharing your thoughts, have a nice one!
I fly a large heavy gas RC helicopter. I'm not a licensed pilot that flew the real thing but I'd say that flying a 30lbs gas helicopter count for something. I know what it feels like to fly in heavy winds or flaring at high speed. Flight Simulator physics is so bad that if real helicopters were like in MSFS, they would need to be rebuilt after every 3 landings. Or... lets say it this way: If you are real good at helicopters in MSFS, once you fly the real thing, you'll have a god like accuracy. And you're probably on coke.
Well, I'm glad it's not me, I have issues with all the helicopters in FS2024, especially the H125. I have a cyclic, collective, pedals, TrackIR and VR yet they are impossible to fly "realistically" due to the issues you show here, which is the whole point of a flight simulator, is it not.
When doing these missions with the R66 it will ask you to pull the parking break at the end and as a heil does not have one, you cannot complete the mission. Even more frustrating than a crash!
I moved on too DCS and havent booted MSFS24 once since, DCS is so much more fun it takes a lot of learning it has a high learning curve but so much worth the time invested just so rewarding. Screw MSFS with it's boring missions DCS has the real missions with purpose and weight to them.
I encoutered all your issues the same way -logically, because the bugs are definitely consistent. But it’s actually even worse: On the H125 the First Limit Indicator is not just unrealistic, it’s complete nonsense. Also the turbine simulation and collective control is messed up because it takes way too much collective to reach certain flight states. And the cruise physics are also a bit weird because it is never really flying straight. Tailrotor effectiveness should deminish after 40kts. With the cargo hook long line the wind resistance seems also wrong to me and having a load attached leads to some weird porpoising, on the Sky Crane more than on the H125. Other than that the flight model -for a default aircraft at least, is actually not that bad :) I found the H125 to even kind of autorotation capable. As for Helicopter missions: I encountered the mission target mixed up by the mission scripting system with a target 3500NM away :D the sling load targeting is broken, sometimes a delivered load inside the target circle is recognized, sometimes not. Quite often the target zone is crammed full with structures or trees, so it is hard to park the load even anywhere. Especially if the structures are generating the ground effect bug. SAR missions without winch sometimes set the person to be rescued inside a forrest with no way of landing next to it. There is the MSFS forum workaround to land somewhere next to the side, leave the aircraft and collect him on foot -but I found this works only with distances of 0.05-0.07NM otherwise you get a “you are abandoning your aircraft” warning. The other frequent bad landing zones are on steep hillsides. These could work if the controls wouldn’t lock up upon reaching the target. For the agricultural missions besides what is clearly shown in the video (wrong ground effect, small landing pad with wrong collision recognition how big the pad is (heli clipping through pad), VR stability), I found that the target area marking is often clipping inside the landscape so you don’t know where the field actually ends as far as the mission scripting says and that the spray start and stop sounds on the R66 are not working (which doesn’t matter anyway because due to the parking brake bug you can’t complete a R66 mission anyway :) ) And on landing the augmented reality flight path frequently suggests a different approach than what is announced via radio leading to points deduction if you land as visually suggested :D also some landing zones are set right next to buildings (where nobody would set a helicopter down as it is absolutely needless danger) or they are on an angle. By the way: shutting down the H125 like presented in the video would have led to a bug anyway, if the program wouldn’t have crashed: if the rotor reaches zero RPM before the battery is selected to OFF the mission simply doesn’t end! The battery must be ON for the script to say mission complete :)
Great to see an experienced rotorhead, thanks for your feedback paw! I agree with every single word you typed! About the H125 by Asobo, I can also say that the rotor speed never increases above the limit, no matter what you do. Oversensitive cyclic compared to all the other aircraft is also a thing. Also, force trim button doesn't work, but I remember that during release the heli didn't even had the trim working lol. Still better than the native 407 for sure but for me still an awful flight model. The issue about the heli not flying straight even in cruise speed is something that comes from 2020. When they released Cabri it was one of the first things I've noticed. Of course, cabri in real life kind of flies a bit sideways but nothing like what we see in mfs FM. Most of payware helicopters don't display so much of that tendency (thank god) as well as the new R66 (a state of the art helicopter by asobo). The only issue I have with R66 is that the rotor wont go above the usual RPM speed (like the h125), and I also feel like it is a little bit underpowered while operating in warm/cool temperatures. It displays great performance in cold places but when above 5º Celcius its way too weak. Another thing I miss is being able to lock the rotorbrake on its place instead of having to hold the little string all the way down. You can't turn the Governor on or off on the R66 as well, but that doesn't bother me at all since I can just roll the throttle and the gov looses authority so I can autorotate. Quite nice autorotation to be honest. So well, here we are, asobo beta testers LOL Have a good one!
@ Gee, thanks for the feedback! Same here, sharing all of this is a bit like therapy :D Now that you mention it, yeah, the rotor speed not going above green is absolutely a thing. I was so busy with the bugs it didn’t stand out to me :) When I first got to try out MSFS2024 the R66 also seemed the closest to good 2020 payware, and Xplane and DCS standards to me. Pity it also is held back by issues. I often think all it would take is the GE bug to be sorted out and one good model to have a reason to stick to the 2024. Here is hoping that Q1 this year has that in store for rotor simmers… About the power: thought that as well! But I went and bought the Xplane R66 payware to compare and it also takes a similar amount of torque to hover IGE. I assumed it needs to be yellow-lined for takeoff, I need to check the POH though… And the rotor brake chain I consider bugy as well as if you asign rotor brake ON to a key combo or peripheral button the chain is jittering at 99% pulled as they didn’t consider having it pulled for longer duration. But on the upside at least it acts like it is locked in place… Nice exchange :) Thanks again! You too!
No it's not lol Ground effect is more linear and predictable in real life than in MFS2024 FM. You can also try and compare 2024 to any other sim and will see that this is not the correct behaviour.
Dude, I don't want to defend Asobo because for sure they have to fix a lot of issues, but you were using Oculus Link (That is garbage), plus recording at the same time, is really easy to crash an app that is already not really stable if you add on top multiple unstable apps (or apps that can be heavy on the system). Outside of that, I'm also crashing no matter what if i'm on VR or flat.
Sure, you're right! But that's another issue with Asobo, I use link to have faster data transmission and less latency. MFS2020 works perfectly with Link, as smooth as it can be. And of course, it crashes with Virtual Desktop as well.
@@rotorcraftsimulation Don't get me wrong man, I'm not here to defend Asobo, is just that I know really well how aweful link became recently XD they are not even able anymore to have a stable OS on Quest 3 and 3S. In any case, in terms of stability 2020 is amazing (but also has more patches), 2024 on the other side runs better on my system....when is not crashing randomly.
@@DannyReVlogs It's always been trash, I just use wireless with a WiFi 6 router and a bigger battery to last 8 hours because Link is absolutely garbage
Want real effects and physics, buy a real helicopter and fly it 😆 Amidst the trouble in the sim, I think you were doing pretty well. I personally would have been all over the place with that heli. thing.
Recently, like 4 days ago, a few payware helicopters appeared in my gallery and most of them are working quite fine (besides the ground effect bug) unfortunately, you can't use them in career mode :(
The game is completely unplayable on Xbox. A ton of bush fields the spawn you AFTER the hold short you you get a penalty the second you release the parking brake. Flaps on the beaver give you an overspeed penalty even when parked Literally 80% of missions have an unexpected error in decent or final and quits for you WITHOUT getting paid. VIP missions are completely missing after the new year. Where the actual F is the marketplace? I uninstalled it yesterday and won’t go back. Only saving grace for me is the game was free on game pass.
1. You are a very good pilot ✔ 2. MSFS let's you fly on a PC, thank you! I couldn't have tried flying otherwise (I'm 62 😅) 3. The graphics look good and will get better 4. I am not Uninstallint it! 5. OK. Now you can go ahead bash me
I'm not uninstalling it myself, and thats after so many complaints on other forums about the ground effect issue on elevated pads. It will get addressed and we'll get a much better sim, just takes a bit of patience. That said this should have been released in 2025 at some stage, and not a rushed attempt at trying to adhere to a launch date and particular branding.
I'm not uninstalling either, and I blame myself for it every single day lol I Guess it really depends on each system but Its a struggle to have a enjoyable experience :(

So well, here we are, asobo beta testers LOL
Have a good one!
@ Gee, thanks for the feedback! Same here, sharing all of this is a bit like therapy :D
Now that you mention it, yeah, the rotor speed not going above green is absolutely a thing. I was so busy with the bugs it didn’t stand out to me :)
When I first got to try out MSFS2024 the R66 also seemed the closest to good 2020 payware, and Xplane and DCS standards to me. Pity it also is held back by issues. I often think all it would take is the GE bug to be sorted out and one good model to have a reason to stick to the 2024. Here is hoping that Q1 this year has that in store for rotor simmers…
About the power: thought that as well! But I went and bought the Xplane R66 payware to compare and it also takes a similar amount of torque to hover IGE. I assumed it needs to be yellow-lined for takeoff, I need to check the POH though…
And the rotor brake chain I consider bugy as well as if you asign rotor brake ON to a key combo or peripheral button the chain is jittering at 99% pulled as they didn’t consider having it pulled for longer duration. But on the upside at least it acts like it is locked in place…
Nice exchange :) Thanks again! You too!
You not patient guy , remember fs2020 good after 4 years,it is now baby be patient bro.
And you doing too much corecctions on control Heli bro ,and you not sensitive move control you touch like love not slamp😂😂😂
It's the same in the airplane missions as well....... a lot of bugs
YEAH! I felt the same
In 6-8 months this will be a great sim.
It's a great sim already. I backup my claims clearly showing why 24 is already the best flight sim ever. Check me out for a more positive experience.
6-8 years
But that's how a real helicopter flies.
Not easy. GROUND EFFECT.
No it's not lol
Ground effect is more linear and predictable in real life than in MFS2024 FM.
You can also try and compare 2024 to any other sim and will see that this is not the correct behaviour.
its why i restarted my career and not done any heli missions i avoid it
Dude, I don't want to defend Asobo because for sure they have to fix a lot of issues, but you were using Oculus Link (That is garbage), plus recording at the same time, is really easy to crash an app that is already not really stable if you add on top multiple unstable apps (or apps that can be heavy on the system).
@@extremeencounter7458 trying to run the sim entirely on cloud was a BIG mistake from the getgo since planning by Asobo and Microsoft. Big mistake
whole game is garbage ivve gone back to 20 thiis is big flop
Want real effects and physics, buy a real helicopter and fly it 😆 Amidst the trouble in the sim, I think you were doing pretty well. I personally would have been all over the place with that heli. thing.
Worst crap I ever spent money on. Useless
It’s humiliating to fly in helicopters in FS2024
Recently, like 4 days ago, a few payware helicopters appeared in my gallery and most of them are working quite fine (besides the ground effect bug) unfortunately, you can't use them in career mode :(
The game is completely unplayable on Xbox. A ton of bush fields the spawn you AFTER the hold short you you get a penalty the second you release the parking brake.
Flaps on the beaver give you an overspeed penalty even when parked
Literally 80% of missions have an unexpected error in decent or final and quits for you WITHOUT getting paid.
VIP missions are completely missing after the new year.
Where the actual F is the marketplace?
I uninstalled it yesterday and won’t go back. Only saving grace for me is the game was free on game pass.
looks more to me like the pilot of that helicopter is useless.
1. You are a very good pilot ✔
2. MSFS let's you fly on a PC, thank you! I couldn't have tried flying otherwise (I'm 62 😅)
3. The graphics look good and will get better
I'm not uninstalling either, and I blame myself for it every single day lol I Guess it really depends on each system but Its a struggle to have a enjoyable experience :(
@@rotorcraftsimulation I agree it's not a 100 p/cent enjoyable. I fly the 2020 most of the times but keep coming back to 2024 hoping something has changed 😁
