  • Probably my last day fishing for bass this year and what a day. The weather was fantastic and the fishing wasn't bad either- we fished shallow reefs and deep water marks with lots of tidal pull.
    Top water, Fiiish Black Minnows and shallow divers all caught fish with a nice bass to finish off the day. Got to love uk bass fishing!

    Bass fishing in South Wales in early Autumn. Nowt finer. They have a lovely old saying down there. 'Berries be ripe, nuts be brown, rod tip up, waders down'. I'm just learning some Welsh so I've probably got it wrong. I'm glad to see you having a whale of a time with good people in an amazing place. I really enjoyed it. I'll Sithi after, Dave

      Diolch Dave (the extent of what I picked up living in North Wales). Lovely little saying, although thinking maybe you've adapted it a bit with the waders down comment🤔

    As an American on the east coast it surprises me how you have a lot of similar, if not the same, species as us. The bass you catch over on your side of the pond look similar in body structure and are even targeted in similar ways. The only real difference is the size. A starting point for a Striped Bass to be considered large is 40lbs and anything over 50 is exceptional (once in a lifetime fish).

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah they're almost identical, we often copy your techniques. 40lb would be amazing! The UK record is about 21lb so we're a long way off you!!

    • @raymondthompson2908
      @raymondthompson2908 2 роки тому

      It shouldn't be too surprising that share species, or variations of, as it is the same pond; The Atlantic, that is. And some fish do get around a bit. Eels, for instance, both European and American freshwater eels, all leave home and swim to the Sargasso to spawn, and then back again (I think): the elvers do for sure (personally I wish they'd stay there, but... hey ho!). So, that's my little contribution, and I'll just sit tight now for someone tell me that's all wrong, but.. hey ho, again. Anyway old sport, great video as always and keep 'em coming. Regards. Raymondo

    Great video, how do you not get snagged in rough ground spinning? I always end up losing lures trying to spin over rocky ground

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  3 роки тому +3

      Depends on the lures you use. I was using a top water or shallow diving over the rocky ground so the maximum depth my lure went to was about 30cm.

    Hey The slippy one,
    Do you mind me picking your brains about Rod Reel and general set up
    Not that I’m a novice, I’ve fished all my life BC bit of rock boat you the score, but one thing I’ve shy’d away from is plugging, spinning apart from the Mackerel in the summer
    A few tips, point my enormous nose in the right direction
    I’d be very grateful, if not no worries
    Keep on fishing

      Hey Alan, it's really a personal choice but a 9ft rod coupled with a 2500 to 4000, depending on balance, is the the go-to set up. I like a 9tf rod with a 2500 sized real and anywhere between 12lb and 20lb braid. Hope this helps👍🎣
