I have a friend that actually went to a guitar camp with Jason years ago. if you search "jason richardson trivium solo", you can find a video titled "trivium solo" and its my friend playing with Jason back when they were like 15 or 16
Funny enough, he used his solo from the polyphia song he was featured in to end his improvised solo. The last 15-20 seconds was the exact same solo as that.
@@PhilosophyofGuitar I don't know why, but many say Steve Vai is way more technical than Tony Macalpine. I love Steve's chops, but I think I have to disagree on that

When you thought these players had soul... Rusty comes along and reaffirms it tenfold by playing absolutely soullesly, making the others look even better by comparison.
All the players displayed their prowess and proficiency on their guitars of choice. Rusty perhaps was nervous..maybe.. since he's sharing the stage with all those other great players especially Tony MacAlpine and John Petrucci etc. I bet anybody would be nervous probably. Imagine your guitar heroes invited you all of a sudden to do an impromptu jam onstage..and they're some of the guitar heroes that you look up to..definitely you'd be excited..and nervous as hell at the same time once you set foot on that stage. I respect them all in this vid. Because each one of them has something to offer in terms of playing styles and so on etc. Love them all! 😎🤘🤘🤘❤
Man ,Jason has not so much time practicing improvisation and just look the killer level he has, and what strikes me most is he improvise with a level of technical accuracy that is highly impressive. Dude has no roof

Dream Theater Guitarist John Petrucci’s Guitar Universe 2.0 took place on August 6-10 at the Mansion in Glen Cove, New York. The Event Was Such An Awesome Jam Session; The camp was hosted by John Petrucci and featured guest instructors including: Guthrie Govan, Tosin Abasi, Tony MacAlpine, Rusty Cooley, Andy James, Mike Mangini, Jason Richardson, Jon Finn, and with very special guest Al Di Meola. Another ultimate guitar wank!!! What a fantastic line-up of greats, all in good company with a great bassist and great drummer. I have only recently become a convert to the gospel according to John , Petrucci, that is. These guys leave me laughing in joyous celebration of the magnificence of humans pushing the boundaries ....
Hang on a second!! Did Jason just tease Nasty by Polyphia here? 10:07 - 10:40. If i am correct i think he is playing exactly the same solo as the one from Nasty, just in a different key pherhaps. Seriously go listen and tell me what you think o.o
Yeah that pretty much sucks. It’s an improv. He should not have to rely on already written down material. It completely defeats the purpose of an improv.
I can't find anyone better than John Petrucci itself to be honest in the begging to there was a soul taking birth but suddenly it started to fade ... Lol be lucky Al di Moela was just a guest and had to leave! The dude makes Vai, satriani, and malmsteem sweat! Patrucci is magnificent but he's nowhere near Al di Moela!
Dude Tony MacAlpine has done a lot of music, he's one of the most respected guitarists and composers out there, he has a ton of solo albums (Maximum Security being one of the best), has been in many bands like Planet X and PSMS. His Solo was very good here and you can tell the guy is a monster improvising and has tasty phrasing, Petrucci is awesome but I prefer Tony a lot more!
Seeing old videos of Richardson in his bedroom jamming Petrucci solos and him now on stage shredding with John himself makes me extremely happy!
Exactly what I am thinking!!!
He is playing with his God...
I am so Happy for him, he worked his ass off for this!

Richardson feels so humble, tho he's already but mostly will crush most of these guitarists, it's amazing.
