I think Jason was just trying to do something different from what the others were doing, his first turn wasn’t terrible, he just didn’t match what the others did.
I don’t know what everyone is talking about. I thought his style was the most unique and compelling, whereas the others were good, but I feel like I’ve heard it before
@@muman717 I know other guys are fabulous too. It is so hard to play in time, with feeling and shred techincally and find a balance with all these in one tune + pressure from the audience.... I took a big lesson out of it. Thanks for sharing!
Add Thomas Griggs to the title! Using and analogy: Aaron plays like this: "Themostbeautifulthings intheworldcannotbeseenortouchedtheyarefeltwiththeheart"; Nick : "The ost beatifulthings in the word cannot beseen ortouched, they are fel with the heart"; Jason: "Themostmostmostbeautifulbeautifulintheintheintheintheintheintheintheintheworldthings intheworldbeseencannottouchedhearthearthearthartaheartheart", and finally, Thomas Griggs: "The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart"
Thomas: The sweet and tasty chord melodic guy. Nick: That one guy who always nailed legato, and who need a floyd bridge? Aaron: The Intervals guy, with recognizable lick. Jason: The shredder guy but still sounds nice.
Crazy to think a guy that can shred like Aaron Marshall can still write music that I can play along with, that sounds fucking killer. he really knows how to capture the hook of a song, its admirable
I like how Thomas Briggs improvises using chord melodies and rhythmic approach at the beginning . While the other guys only can play licks and solos lol it's very rare to see a young player who seems understand the importance of rhythm playing as well as lead playing
This is fucking celebration of music. God I want to feel this energy someday being a decent musician on stage with decent musicians and just talking this way. Love that shit
Some people saying Jason has no "feeling" etc. I think that's BS to be honest, really enjoyed his parts just as much as the rest of the guys, all equally as good with their own style's to offer :)
Learn To Play Today! Definitely! Out of everyone there, I like Jason the best. He’s just the slight outlier in terms of style for this show, but trying to compare him to Nick for example just doesn’t mean anything lol
Hahaha exactly man completely agree with you! And Jason was my favourite too to be honest. Everyone always wants to compare but you just can't with these guys, they all have very unique styles and I appreciate and enjoy them all :)
@@Diogolindir no fucking way you said griggs is even comparable to Jason Richardson. Go listen to Titan or Tendinitis and tell me griggs plays shit like that, absolutely laughable.
Wow that was incredible. Next gen g4! First saw JR's audition cover for ASP and followed him SINCE. He puts a solid album out just may not have been his day on improv. Saw nick and Aaron perform in Manchester (uk) this year with polyphia and was such an amazing gig. These guys are all a credit to the industry and I'm glad they're all enjoying themselves so much
Y’all are on crack if you listen to his music all of his music are super abstract and are in complicated keys and this simple key to improv over is not keeping up with his impeccable chord changing improv
I like Aaron marshall jams. he moves between tension and releases creating a pleasant effect to my ears than others who linger on dissonance way too much. love Thomas who does dissonance the best because he seems to actually have some sort of a jazz/fusion background
Nick Johnston has a little bit of another amazing Canadian guitarist in his playing. I definitely hear a little Ian Crichton from SAGA in his chops. Amazing touch!
I know everyone is saying Jason's soloing was shit, but I didn't mind it, it changed the mood and allowed the rhythm section play out more because of it.
Okay JR's first turn my not have been the hottest, but just watch the rest. It gets better -I promise ;D
ehm... nope
jr's first turn is poormans petrucci :D
I think Jason was just trying to do something different from what the others were doing, his first turn wasn’t terrible, he just didn’t match what the others did.
I don’t know what everyone is talking about. I thought his style was the most unique and compelling, whereas the others were good, but I feel like I’ve heard it before
i think JRs shit was nasty! dudes improve is way underrated and the most dark and evil sounding of the guys on stage!
Nick Johnston has an incredible touch... he plays with very low gain... killer guitar player!
Yeah he has a poison touch
Yeaahh dude... low gain & transparent overdrive 👌
Bass player and drummer are the winners. Simple, tidy and virtuoso
TheGeronimo322 agreed! Drummer is from the band Auras and the bassist is from bands Painted in Exile and Jia
@@muman717 I know other guys are fabulous too. It is so hard to play in time, with feeling and shred techincally and find a balance with all these in one tune + pressure from the audience.... I took a big lesson out of it. Thanks for sharing!
TheGeronimo322 Well said! And no problem, glad you enjoyed! I sure did too!
Thomas Briggs was impeccably flawless
Thomas Griggs*
i think he had the best melodic jam
Rule #1: Use sweep arpeggios to assert dominance.
Alternate pick your sweep arpeggios to assert unrivaled shredtasticity!

Dude im dying of laughter, this is hilarious. You sir are brilliant.
Elaborate set-up dude! Good payoff, but just so much work in that set up..
Wow man!! This is so well written.
Only 1,000 IQ brains understand lol
Holy shit that Thomas guy ripped the floor with the rest, what amazing talent, his jazz progressions are from beyond
Funny how the best of them was the less known of them xD. So much musicality and flawless technique. Deffinetly gonna hear more of Thomas Griggs
I love all of them, but I love his jazz influence
I think Aaron was easily the most musical one in this demonstration. They’re all insanely talented.
Saw this show in Philly and GODDAMN Thomas Griggs slayed!!! Was completely blown away.
Thomas: The sweet and tasty chord melodic guy.
Nick: That one guy who always nailed legato, and who need a floyd bridge?
Aaron: The Intervals guy, with recognizable lick.
Jason: The shredder guy but still sounds nice.
RECOKNIZIBLE LECK

Thank you. He's playing and UNDERSTANDING of harmony is totally another level. Both him and Aaron. I think Tosin belongs in the same boat too.
Jason Richardson is the worst offender lol. Guy can't even talk with his guitar besides shredding.
@@Knosferatu Nah i dont think Araron belongs there all his licks sound the same \
Yeah like 2:35 when he does that stacked melody instead of just one note.
Imagine believing that Nick Johnston can only play licks and solos
8:03 no way aaron just hit the euphoria lick
Yeah I was like, wuuuut
That shit went crazy
LOVED IT
Yes
Thomas and Nick rules...Jason is out of his waters. ..And the guy with the hat is awesome.
ever osfp yea Aaron is the guy with the hat, would love to see Jason stay on this path and grow with his improv
Aaron has so much feel even when hes making it up as he go, so much groove and heart in everything he plays
08:03 the guy just played polyphia's song Euphoria on a middle of a improvisation CMON MAN
hahah yeahh i noticed that too!
probably on purpose because they have all toured with them lol
04:32 intervals-touch and go(interlude)
That was actually fucking sick. I lived that part.
it's a common practice amongst jazz and fusion catz. It's just a way to pay tribute and there's always a comedic element to it
NJ is hard to beat. Just immense and full of soul and flavour.
I loved the arrangement of how they start each conversation with slow and clean music and end it with Jason's insane shredding
Everything was roses until Jason´s graveyard vibes appeared. I love this. Would have loved Tosin Abasi thumping with them, too ♥
This is fucking celebration of music. God I want to feel this energy someday being a decent musician on stage with decent musicians and just talking this way. Love that shit
Nick Johnston's tone is absolutely killer
Wow.Wow. I know some, but not all. I will look and listen to all. This was very fine! Thank you. Craig.
8:03 Euphoria??
Hearly Yes it is
OH MY GOD I DIDNT CATCH THAT. That's awesome that he threw some ol 'Lyphia in there.
should TIM be there brooh lol
YESSSSSSSSSSSS OMG
"Im the best at fucking writing hooks yea"
Thomas Griggs' solos are mesmerizing. He's a wizard.

I love all of them, but Thomas Griggs just slaughtered that improv.
You mean s/o to Thomas Griggs for destroying everyone? Ya totally.
Who is he? Does he have a band?
Robert Atkinson he doesn’t have a band but you can check out his Instagram. His name on IG is griggly_bear
Best. Video. Ever!
Kinda wish the bass player would have gotten in on the fun..
Same! Jacob is insane...
Yes! Thanks for posting this. Thomas killed it, so awesome!
John Christian no problem! It was neat to get some of his first concert on record hah such a great show!
Thomas Briggs absollutely killed it and stood shoulder to shoulder w giants.......killer playing everyone!
First time hearing of Thomas Briggs. What group does he play with? Absolutely phenomenal improvisation.
Hes fill in on tour with intervals. He does a jazz trio thing on his own and does worship groups too.
Thomas Griggs
@@joshuagoudie2849 what's the name of his jazz trio?
He is a very very good improviser
did anyone realized min 3:08 when jason offered a beer to aaron, and he was like, fuck no kid... hahahaha
Jason is a straight tech/shred/prog machine man. 🔥
@@johnvincent1823 Wow, you're pleasant.
This is the first time I heard Thomas Griggs. Holy crap! I became a fan about half way through his first solo. Amazing!
This was so awesome! I would love to have seen this live. That security guard was trying his hardest not to watch!
I love that music man guitar. I need one in my life
My favorite part is when the little dude knows he's outclassed. But he got the biggest cheers From everyone including the musicians.
Thomas griggs is pretty rediculous if you look at his credentials.
Dude, Griggs outclass them by faaaaaar and they know it
@@Diogolindir no fucking way you said griggs is even comparable to Jason Richardson. Go listen to Titan or Tendinitis and tell me griggs plays shit like that, absolutely laughable.
Aarons tone is fucking incredible! well in all honesty, the all sounded fucking phenomenal, his tone just stood out to me.
NJ killed it like always.
Jason Richardson, sounds technical yet comprehensive.
Thomas Griggs !
They all did an incredible job but Thomas Griggs was easily the best player there.
I think nick was the most dynamical player from all present there..the best improviser on stage..

All these guys are great players. I'm here for the JR. Cool to see them free style.
Love Intervals, they deserve more recognition.
I LOVE Aaron’s vocabulary!
Thomas Griggs put those guys to shame that night. Damn!
Kevin Berstler and on his first live show ever, too!
It sounded like the sort of solos Aaron puts on his albums, which was very weird
I wouldnt say he put nick Johnson to shame
And Aaron is flawless too
No one in a shame!
the guy in the crowd when jason comes out I LOVE YOUR FOREARMS 🤣
The rhythm section blasting you Flyboys off the stage!😆
POWWW !!! 👊
such fluid Johnstons playing... really2 love it!!!!!!!
I would love to hear more from Thomas Briggs. I can’t find much of him on youtube for some reason.
Go to his instagram @griggly_bear
Awesome jam! Never heard Thomas before. Now I'm hunting his videos.
Wow this Thomas briggs fella is amazing..
my favorite part was 2:35
Kinda reminds me of the neo soul licks from snarky puppy's guitarist
The most fun I have seen a bunch of XREDERS have....excellent!
I was there. Great players, fantastic show. :)
OMFG this jam just made my day!
I actually laughed out loud when aaron started playing euphoria and jason started playing aviator
When did he start playing Aviator? I couldn't find it.
Josh Daniel wait nvm all he plays are really fast minor modal things with classical influence i cant tell the difference lmao
So much talent on that stage!
Wow I didn't realize Joe Rogan was such a good shredder
Christian Monteith hes not... hes a good podcaster...."Jamie what's this"
@@cguitar9095 "Jamie pull this up!"

8:00 when Int throws in that Polyphia 👌👌
0:57 Jason showing Aaron that his guitar doesn't run out of tune hahahaha
🤣🤣🤣
Was a great show. I was there. More to the right of the stage is where I was
Jason needs work bad on improv! Thomas Griggs by far the most impressive to me
Exactly dude!
He just needs to find key maybe hes tone deaf

No one talking about Jason Richardson tho. Buddy killed it
i almost started clapping at my desk after this was done
Adam Mays haha yeeeees
Adam Mays get back to work!!
Glad you caught that on camera
Best jam to the "night court" song ever
Griggs man wtf, that was insane.
what a time to be alive
Jason taps Aaron on the shoulder
Jason: hey you drinking?
Aaron: no are you?
Jason: oh I’m shit faced! “Slams PBR”

08:04 polyphia's riff 😂
ya dude. Just go check out Polyphia's Euphoria.

Dude at the very end was mind blown
2:35 an extra hand comes out of Thomas Griggs back pocket to help him play the lick
are we not gonna talk about how good Nick is live
This jam reminds of the G396' Joe,Steve and Yngwei where they do this kinda jam and come together with overlapping solos at the end. :)
I heard that Tim Henson hook in there, and saw that cheeky smile
The beginning of a new era...
Where is Lucas mann from Rings of saturn?
i love that i just realized aaron threw in the hook from euphoria in one of his solos. dudes a genius
dude with the white suhr
is on another level
Jason didnt do much improv back when they started this tour i believe i read somewhere?
