      How much did you have to spend in lumber to make the grumpy commenters go away?? Looks sharp bro, maybe black out the under sides of the lofts too, really do away with all the visible wood

      @@clancy4freeswag562 it’s was like $550. To be honest it wasn’t even for the grumpy commenters. I just started looking at the load chart and realized that the wood limited us dramatically. Especially on the larger loft. And then on the large loft you could see it bow a bit when you stepped between the beams. Joint or not. So for my own confidence it was worth it. I was worried about things like shelves putting too much weight on the feet and punching a hole through.

    Few suggestions. As somebody who has a bedroom/living room in my shop, get a cheapo cordless vacuum for your hangout, mine is carpet and it gets dusty quick. 2nd, insulate the floor below your hangout. Having a compressor roaring under you while chilling is annoying. 3rd, look on marketplace or check your local box store building supply for discount linoleum floor for your storage loft. Nothing worse than having a leaking trans/engine/diff upstairs and fluid staining the roof and dripping on your workspace.

      i was just gonna say this

    • @MMORPG87
      @MMORPG87 24 дні тому +7

      why would he chill with compressor on, also insulating an open loft wouldnt do anything at all since the sound would be echoing off every wall regardless. also linoleum would cause a chance of slipping while up there, we dont need him falling off the loft onto the floor below. It painted and double layered plywood not OSB, he would have to put a 55gal drum up there and stab a hole in it to have issues with leaking below

    • @warheadsk8boards
      @warheadsk8boards 24 дні тому +3

      I like these suggestions. It sounds like something Taylor would be excited about. I'm sure that when hes done with the other important wiring with the shop he could fine-tune some of that stuff you suggested. Be great for content as well as fix his shop up. I love these kinds of videos where his shop gets better and better.

    • @Beardest_Fishing
      @Beardest_Fishing 24 дні тому +6

      @@MMORPG87 Because sound is not only audible but also emits vibrations if you didn’t know. He’s not going to be the only one in his shop and even if he is, me shutting off my compressor when I take a break is the last thing on my mind. If Josue is there or his girlfriend is there, somebody is going to be in the loft if he’s in the shop. And if you’re bling enough to not see oil/trans fluid on a Linoleum floor you probably shouldn’t have climbed up there. It’s there to catch a leak before it ruins the floor or anything under it while you’re not watching. You clean it up before you try to see if you can walk through it. If you think it would take 55 gallons you’ve never had a leak inside a house with a basement, very little makes a big mess.

    • @Taylordrifts
      @Taylordrifts  24 дні тому +27

      @@Beardest_Fishing all great suggestions! Insulation wise not really an issue just because the compressor is only ever turned on if I’m mounting tires or blowing stuff off. So it’s rare that it runs and it’s pretty quiet. But everything else is a great idea!

  • @JoeMadds0
    @JoeMadds0 24 дні тому +5

    Crazy idea for the lighting, and I'm not sure how possible it is, but for the underlighting of the lofts could you fit a diffusion panel between the beams that have lights? It could rest on the lip of the beams. So, effectively, it will look like one giant light fixture akin to something you'd find in a kitchen, the diffusion panel will make the lighting less harsh on the eyes/camera, the light will be more evenly distributed than it already is, and it would look clean as hell.
    edit: just saw you test the lights, ignore my idea, they look great as they are lol

    Cutting wood generate tons of sawdust which gets EVERYWHERE. So sometime
    ago I hit upon a plan-I do all my cutting outside. Let the sawdust lie wherever it
    may fall. The wind will drive it onto the lawn which LOVES sawdust. I dont have to
    sweep up at all.
    !

    Get a pallet jack to keep up top on the storage side. Lets you put heavy stuff at the back and create more room

    Now this shop is pretty well set up, but imagine a built in speaker system underneath the lofts and all around the shop so you can jam to some tunes.

    @Taylor Ray, Love the content man the new shop upgrades are looking awesome! A fire extinguisher mounted on both sides of your shop would be a safety thing that home shops or even all shops should have!
    Keep up the good work man! 🤙🤙

    Noting more permanent than temporary. I'm talking about the wiring job for the lights! I would have also painted the underside white. Also done in before laying down the wood from the start. Paint it before putting it up and screwing it down. Now you have a second layer, so that is ruled out. Some Cheapo linoleum flooring would have been better for the storage area. It would stop any leaks from getting onto the wood.

    Make sure you open the back roller door before you build the bridge so that you leave enough room for it to open.

    When building your bridge behind the lift keep the yellow fold down ramps in mind. I could see myself building a bridge that hits those ramps and not realizing it until after done. lol

    You could do some sort of defuser below the lower lights as well. May smith things out and be easier on the eyes.

    I think you should buy a little stick vacuum (most come with a wall mount) and mount it up on the carpet side cause eventually its going to start showing general shop dust up there 👍🏻

    Surprised you didnt paint the bottom side of the wood floor black, it would make it blend in so nice because your shop really has no bare wood anywhere or anything even remotely close to wood color and all the whole structure is black. But thats just a small detail, other than that i think you guys have killed it with these. I said it last video and ill say it again this mezzanine kit is so awesome and better then anything i could of imagined you building, i cant wait to see the hang out side finalized and decked out and then on the other side how you use all the new space and see the shop all put back together afterwards 👌👌

  • @spyrule

    I know its minor, but put some L angle around the outer edges of both lofts. Will help protect the carpet from edge peeling (and from getting caught when sliding things up), but also protect the wood edge from chipping. Plus if you paint it black, it will hide the edge of the wood flooring.
