Hello! Should I keep braiding the younger stems of my lucky bamboo? If yes, how? I saw only videos of shaping/designing cut stems not potted plant. Thank you!
i just got mine today and it has soil and these glued pebbles on top. i know i have to repot but unsure when cause i don’t wanna shock it. should i wait a few days/ week/ or is it okay to repot like 2moro?
It should be okay to repot the luck bamboo specially if you got it from the big box store like Home Depot or Lowes. They normally have the roots tied together by a piece of garden wire or string. Eventually they'll start rotting. I just repotted mine and they seem to do very well with just water and plenty of light.
Another video shows they rinsed off all the dirt cut off rotted roots, the ones that are like cooked soft noodles . Dabbed the roots gently with paper towel. Let it sit on more dry paper towel and let it dry . Not overnight. Just letting some natural air dry it out a little. Then repotted . It survived and after a week or so started to get healthy again. Healthy roots should be like bamboo shoots you buy in the produce section at the grocery store. Whiter and firmer than the roots that are so saturated with water they are limp darker and dying , that’s why it smells . It’s the decay you’re smelling in the soil around the roots, and the roots themselves.

@@FoodArtTravel don’t use tap water, it can contain harmful fluoride chloride and other chemicals the water company adds to the water at the water treatment plant. Use Reverse Osmosis water, Distilled water you get at the grocery store. Don’t use the drinking water that had added stuff for humans, not necessarily all good for plants. Spring water in bottles at the store is great. Think of Rain Water . You can even catch rainwater in clean containers and use that for your plants, that is free. Unless you live in a dessert 😅.

I've never attempted to braid it, but I think you can while the stem is soft.

Just transplanted my bamboo plant after 2 years had to break the little fish vase but plant looks lot better

So when the water inside the pot is dirty, what should you do? Do you change the water? How?
I dump the old water by slowly tilting the pot in the sink.
What can I do if I DO notice that funky smell in the original pot/soil?
I will repot, change the water and remove the soil and switch to white rocks/gravel. That's what I did when the original soil started to smell funky.

If it's in rocks, how can you check the soil to see if it needs watered?
You'll be able to tell if the water has evaporated or if you need to add water by looking at the water level in the pot.
Do you have to use a pot that is dark or not clear glass? Does this matter?
I've tried both, and it works just fine. The important part is the amount of light the plant receives.

Also Is Rocks + water enough ? ...or we need some soil too. ?
They can survive with just rocks and water as long as you keep the water clean.

I do change the water when it's starting to look dirty. Most of the time, I just tilt the pot and let the water out. Good luck!

I think it's a variegated dracaena sanderiana.
