+S Borgersen Wrong. Actual royal guard here, they are 3rd company Music and Drill performing only drill and music excercises, only 1st, 2nd and 4th Company do guard duty :)
No, to become a royal guard your company has to pass several exams which 3rd company don't even train for. They are solely training for music and drill excercises and they are lucky to even go to the shooting range once during their service. That being said, they're absolutely beasts at what they do and they train very hard to be at the level they are. - Former royal guard ;)
incase your interested, those guns are 10 pounds if that doesn't seem like alot try to hold your laptop and spin it like that, they are all M1 Garands and all previously served with the Norwegian Army during WW2 and after, but have since been decommissioned. Also everyone there except the band and officers are all conscripts and only practice for about 5-8 months..
I envy the 3rd Gardekompani so much.. They get the M1 Garand (though not to shoot with..) It just looks so awesome. But I guess that the AG3 and HK416 are good number two's..
@DonQuixotec hehe :P I use the AG3 in the Home Guard Youth (Heimevernsungdommen) and you can clearly see that it have been used quite a lot. They are full of scratches and some of the rifles even have major flaws, preventing us from shooting straight. They are also huge and heavy, but excellent for training and to get used to having a weapon with you :P
@megrune94 I were not in the 3rd Gardekompani, but I borrowed one of their M1's a bit. It's very old and worn out. It's almost a piece of scrap, after all the violence they've been through, stomping it in the ground and throwing it. I was very pleased with the HK416 though. And if I were to carry an older weapon I would much rather have the M14. My god what a great weapon.
@megrune94 Kjempebra!
+Silentdeath lives more people in London than Norway and thats ur reason why England would've won in a war? Imagine England be as dumb as you then there wouldn't be a challenge for ANY country to take over England xD It's not about the number of people but weapons, strategic so Norway wouldn't have a problem taking over London if that was the case ;)
+VanDijk LFC your a knob I spent a lot of time in Norway in the winter and not on road but above the tree line...we had winter war fare equipment which made life comfortable ...I would love to to see your troops mid winter on Dartmoor soaked wet through night after night in our standard issue kit ...let alone down south if you know what means ....doing the job for real ....you rubber. ...which is short for rubber dagger...and I'm sure you don't have a clue what that means either
what the Norwegian guards are showing is shame, sadness, heroism and love in their act, its all subliminal.. when they have their heads down its a memorial for all the sadness that was happening in Norway back in the days.. when they got their head looking up its heroism, a symbol of love and culture for the Norwegian people saluting our freedom
They did, the Germans who fought them called them "The Black Devils" because of their ferocity and their black uniforms. Comming from trained German soldiers, I say thats high praise, even if they were the enemy
Hahah where did you get that from? Are you sure that it is not the elite American-Canadian commando unit in World War II that saved most of the population in Norways ass?
Not in 1940. You are highly inaccurate. In 1945 it was a combination of forces. British, norwegian trained in Britain and Sweden. Americans incl Battalion 99, norwegians from Wisconsin and North Dakota, etc. Not to forget the Red Army that pushed the germans back in the north in 1944. In 1945 it was a takeover by Allied forces from from a well organised Wehrmacht.
+Filipe Fernandes Yes, the royal guards of Norway were known as such by the germans. Yes, they wear the uniform that all of the HMKG uses... but the guys you see here are the drill team. The ones using the M1 - rifle use it for ceremonial purposes and for drills. The operative guards of the HMKG use the HK 416 and are the ones that stand guard outside the royal residences and are trained infantry. These guys in this video has little to none basic training, they are not on guard duty or infantry. I served as in the HMKG myself. The HMKG is split into different companies, the 3rd Company, which are these guys, do nothing but drills.

Norway and England is very good friends, they held our royal family safe in WWII! God bevare dere England
didn't think this could get any more fucking amazing, then they started covering Coldplay @3:20 .. Norway, I salute you.
not ceremonial guards but royal guards! in fact His Majesty the Kings Guards (HMKG).
The drill team is a surname for a tiny part of the royal guards (HMKG)!
+vif12vf When not out making this shows. they actualy is a part of the kings (and parlaments) guards doing watch duty as everybody else at HMKG

An excellent display and parade, very impressive.

Gjør ikke dette hjemme alene.Perfekt. and impressive..as usual.
The march at
0:00 is the march of the german emperor guard
It actaully is..
Theese guards are not just ceremonial guards. They are fully operative as soldiers, guarding HMK King Harald V ogf Norway and family.
Ehh no...these guys are the drill team only, which is the 3rd company. 1st, 2nd and 4th company consists of the palace guards.
and the 5th consists of spesial roles like snipers and etc
Even if alot of what they do is ceremonial, they carry live ammunition in Norway and their mission at all times is to protect the King and his family.
Holy shit, 2010! this is the same drillplatoon that served when i was doing my service :D

My (UK) husband has 12% Norwegian DNA . Hope to trace him back to Norway .
Are these not the actuall Royal guards of Norway.
@megrune94 Det er gøy å se at du er så interessert i å tjenestegjøre for landet ditt. Skal du utføre tjeneste etter heimevernet for ungdom?
Love the discipline but reminds of that guy from Mad Max 2 though
His majesty king's guard third company of Norway 😃
Elegant.
The first march is called ,,German emperors guard" xD
Does anyone know the marching song they were playing? Please it was awesome!

They did, the Germans who fought them called them "The Black Devils" because of their ferocity and their black uniforms. Comming from trained German soldiers, I say thats high praise, even if they were the enemy
