hi musicluv80. thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoy my reviews. Check out my other reviews if you like this one: ua-cam.com/play/PLLa6GUUz-_eAZLBhVq8wRS80G0c9tCWpg.html
Hi Neil. I think we've watched all of your videos now. Thanks for the detailed and thoughtful information. We have an appointment next week to look at a 2018 Ascent. Still waffling a bit on switching up from tent camping to RV, but there are multiple reasons on the pro side of our spreadsheet. Your videos have been most helpful, especially in comparing between companies.
oh wow. thank you so much lila. if you do end up getting an Ascent would you please email dean, the ceo of pleasureway and let him know? it helps me with my relationship with pleasureway (e.g. i can get answers to viewer questions very quickly, etc.).
You know Neil, you've done a great job reviewing and comparing the 2018 Class B's but what's missing is a comparison between the 2017 and 2018 (maybe 2019 soon) Ascents. There has to be more of a difference than just the move to a 7" touchscreen.
I love the extra room on the roof for extra solar panels, but, I also love the isle shower in the Roadtrek 190. So, one has to give up one or the other, so I chose to give up the roof space for solar. Plus, I love Chevrolet, and, it's much cheaper to work on that gas engine versus the Mercedes. Good video. Take care.
Jim, don't disagree with you on any of your points. The 190 is a great vehicle. I love its size and the fact that it is even shorter than the Sprinter. It is clever to setup the shower in the aisle. Maintenance on the 190 is definitely less than on an MBZ. Take care and thanks for watching my video!
Thanks, Darryl. I thought the colors were neutral and the wood and curved radius cabinetry would hold up well look-wise over time. I originally wanted the white chocolate interior but after seeing it in person thought it would not age as well. Thanks for your comment!
Hi Neil : I forgot to say, I plan to use daily for my overtime. Therefore I don't waste traffic time to go home and back to work. Save time for rest and gas money. thank you.
Hi Neil, Have you done a video on comparing the Accent and the Lexor? It would be interesting. I watched Dean do a tour of the 2015 Accent. It was the 4 cylinder. Are there engine options on the Pleasure Way vans?
I will definitely do that, 277kne. as far as i know there used to be the 4 cylinder option for the Ascent as well as the 6. now there is only the 6. thanks for the question!
you'll need a Mercedes dealer that can deal with Sprinters to get the chassis services. For the coach portion ideally a Pleasureway dealer but they're harder to find than a Mercedes dealer. However, PW does allow you to take the coach into any approved dealer for warranty work - they don't have to be a Pleasureway dealer.
I think if it's windy don't use your awning. I bought the 2017 Plateau Ts a couple months ago and look forward to our trip for the whole summer in 2019. my RV has the same color and cabinets interior as you it's the best they offer.
I like the Assent, but have a couple of concerns. First, how do you deal with below freezing temps since there is no protection for the fresh, gray, and black water tanks, and what about insulation? Second, what about doing without propane which means charging the batteries off the engine, induction cooking, and diesel fired heat and hot water? Thanks.
Hi, John. The Ascent is not all-weather. If you want a bonefide all-weather class B built on the Mercedes platform then the Winnebago Revel is about your only option. There's the Travato (Dodge) and Paseo (Ford) as well which have fresh water tank and lines inside. I'm not sure about the Paseo but Winnebago does not technically market the Travato as all-weather because some of the lines are not insulated enough and are too close to the exterior walls and can freeze. With regards to propane: You can run everything off the lithium batteries on the Ascent. I use the microwave and charge my laptop and run a water boiler all off solar no problem in the Ascent. Heating does require propane. If you're trying to go completely propane-less AND you want all-weather I don't think there is an option for you. The Revel does use diesel for heating but doesn't have large enough batteries and the batteries aren't lithium and there's not enough solar and there's no inverter for AC power and there's not an underhood generator to try to keep the lead acids charged.
I really appreciate all your reviews so much! I'm wondering as this is a few years old now...what is your favorite B class van at this time? We probably won't purchase a Pleasure Way due to cost but in your opinion what would be your next choice after that?
Hi, 277kne. LT makes a great Class C. Very high quality. They got out of the class b market in 2015-2016 unfortunately. I took a look at the Ariva on their site. I liked what I saw. They have nice quality features. Their outside shower shows quality fixtures and a place to store the hose (which is metal). All those things are higher quality than PleasureWay. There's also outside storage which is really unusual for a class B. There's ducted A/C - What?! that's unheard of in a class B. They're using an after market lane keep assist... not sure why. The microwave is name-brand which is a good sign. The galley counters look cheap - not corian? I don't like the look of the cabinets - they are dated but they are hardwood and they are positive locking and solid wood - good sign of quality. The couches show a high level of design with the way they extend out on ball bearing rollers. I like the DRY bath in the rear - unusual in a class B but in general I don't like the rrear windows being blocked. A stainless steel sink in the bathroom - nice. In general it looks really good. I'm going to have to find one to do a detailed review- thank you for making me aware of them.
Hi, Michael. I believe the new 2018 Ascent has Pleasureway's magnetic blinds for the cab windows. It would be cool if they would offer us earlier model owners the option to purchase them. I'll ask PW about that. Great question!
I'm a new subscriber and have really enjoyed your videos. You do an excellent job explaining details. Anyway, I'm only five foot two and am wondering how easy or difficult would it be for me to drive/maneuver the ascent.
Hi I’m looking into an Ascent and wanted to know if they are 4-wheel drive and do well in the snow as far as the tires it comes with ? Also can you do any off roading with this ? It seems like the clearance on the bottom might be a little different than other class Bs so I am curious about that. Not that off roading is a everyday thing but just wondering how it does on unpaved road and potentially rocky roads.
Hi Neil, i am in process to buy one of these, i would like to know, whats the reasons you choose the ascent over any other one. I was surprise to learn ur from quebec also. You made very good quality video btw. Thank you
hi Phong Nguyen. I owned a 23 foot Roadtrek CS Adventurous and it was too long. I couldn't park it where I wanted when I wanted. it was a hassle. so I opted to go for a shorter sprinter. when I saw the Ascent it ticked all the boxes. the quality was the highest I have seen and it fixed all the shortcomings of my CS.
I would like to hear some comments from you regarding: 1. Actual diesel/gas mileage, 2. will it hold 60 mph going up a hill? 3. How does the dry camping work out for you? Thanks
Hi, Mike. Thanks for your questions. I get around 14-15mpg in the city and 24-28mpg. It will indeed hold 60mph going up hill (keep in mind mine 2017 Ascent is the turbo 4 cylinder. The newer Ascents now have the 6 cylinder engines and will get slightly lower mileage but more power for going uphill). I basically only dry camp when I camp. I will hook up to power if they have it but I never hook up to water to sewer (I may dump before I leave if there is a sewer hookup).
Ultramobility Boss I have some newbie questions for RV class B life. You mentioned that you don’t stay connected to water and sewer. Is it possible to stay connected in RV camps to use long fresh water for Long showers after Long drive and continuously dump your grey water line at the spot you are on? Or you use public amenities of RV ground such as bathrooms? If I ever go on long trip with family of max 10 members in sprinter van with some of these features. How much fun or flexibility I can have staying in these RV camps? Perhaps you can have a video answering questions for us newbies. Much appreciated for great channel. 👍🏼
I have just started watching your channel. So excited about pleasureway and Ford I am in MS. Have you had a problem getting service help with your Mercedes. I would assume ford dealers are more plentiful..
Ultramobility : Thank you! I just watched the other video! I'm researching living alternatives and love the comfort and mobility of something like this....though a bit over budget at this time. Still looking! Thanks again!
Which is longer the Accent or Lexor? I can understand the comparison between the Roadtrek Agile and the Accent. I was interested because of Pleasure Way and the Promaster is close in size verses the larger size Mercedes-Benz. I don't like the shower on the passenger side.
Hi Neil : I am your fans who living in Vancouver. Could you tell me where can I find a dealer have Ascents in Vancouver. All I need more electricity, heater instead of air conditioner. Can they do that? thank you.
Hi Neil, Quick question - My driveway is tight at 9 feet wide (house and fence on either side) I'm wondering is this enough room to drive into my courtyard and even more tricky - reversing out just using the backup cam!? Do the side mirrors fold in? If so what is the width including the side steps when mirrors are folded in? Thanks!
Hi, Moondog33. I check the PW site and the width of the Ascent *with side mirrors extended* is 7 feel 11 inches. The mirrors fold in so you should be able to shave off maybe 8 - 10 inches if you fold them in. If it's a straight shot in then using the backup camera and side mirrors should suffice and you shouldn't have any problems pulling in and out.
Ultramobility thank you. Maybe I should rent one first just to make sure. :)! Btw - I was wondering did you ever test drive the Pleasureway Plateau and if so what your thoughts on that vehicle are?
It's on my list to do at the end of this month. I have to take my van in for servicing and I plan to see if the dealer will let me test drive the Plateau in which case I will do a video!
I have researched online data about the Sprinter bluetec diesel engine after the USA 2008 diesel exhaust EPA requirements. Basically, the story is a nightmare. Can you create a video addressing that specific issueP
Noted Micky Lee. Although it may be a moot point if MB moves to all gas engines for the NA market in the 2019 model year. This whoel diesel-gate is causing the manufacturers to rethink their strategies here in the US. Thanks for the note!
it's a good price but try to get them down to $80k tell them it's lacking the new touch screens, automatic generator start and the awesome Truma AquaGo instant hot water heater with comfort plus!

Neil, how is that three way fridge? Most RV units are NOW using compressor fridges, Travato was so bad that they switched to ALL compressor fridges now, road trek, Hymer, mercedes rv's etc. I was surprised (not really) that pleasureway is still using the three way fridge in a over 100,000 unit in the 2020 model:( I have seen so many NEGATIVE horrible reviews on the three way fridges from FIT RV (well respected) and many other big youtubers to include my travato big fridge (used in pleasureway too! had to replace it ASAP-HORRIBLE! Oh I gotcha. Yes, I agree with you then. I will be more aware of calling my van a unit moving forward. It does sound like something a dealer says. Thanks for the heads up!
The first thing you pointed to is the cover plug over the tow hook receiver, not a sensor.
Seriously, you are the best RV reviewer ever! Thanks for great videos and education.

Neal, the rattle-proofing is excellent. Thanks for the ideas.
thank you. i can't stand rattles!
I live these Ascents. You don’t need that extra 4 feet as all it gives you is a longer walkway-not real extra living space. Much more practical.

I think these are in the same price range and quality.

Wondering if the new 2018 feature (privacy windows up front) are available as add-on purchases for those of us with a '17 Ascent?
Hi, Michael. I believe the new 2018 Ascent has Pleasureway's magnetic blinds for the cab windows. It would be cool if they would offer us earlier model owners the option to purchase them. I'll ask PW about that. Great question!
Ultramobility I checked with Grant up in Saskatoon. Yes, we can buy them at dealers!

thank you for watching!

the seat moves up and down and the steering wheel also tilts and telescopes but you'd need to sit in one to verify that it is comfortable for you.
Can I live in it during the brutal winter in Michigan?
Hi I’m looking into an Ascent and wanted to know if they are 4-wheel drive and do well in the snow as far as the tires it comes with ? Also can you do any off roading with this ? Yes I have some service centers won’t work with an under carriage propane tank. they need a special lift.
Stellar! If only they made this in a 4x4.
What is the coldest temps you can take the ascent into?
-30 degrees C.
@@Ultramobility That's pretty cold.
Nice coach...love it! What is the price range? Also, is that the bathroom when you first walk in next to the mirror? Could you show that please?
Hi, LadyStace4Christ. The price range is around $120k to $130k. Yep that's the bathroom here's a video of it:

Is the sofa comfortable once it turns into bed?
yes it's very comfortable. i find that i don't need a mattress topper like i did on my other class b.

How many people can you carry in this van? Will it sit for 6 people?
Bentley you can carry 4 with 3 point seatbelts. it will seat 5 in the back but there are only 2 3-pt seat belts back there.
Is rvtraders the place place to go and search
yes
Can you share what the cost is ?
mine was $130k
i found a 2016 pleasure way same model as yours with 12,000 miles on it for 86,500. is that a good price or just average?
it's a good price but try to get them down to $80k tell them it's lacking the new touch screens, automatic generator start and the awesome Truma AquaGo instant hot water heater with comfort plus!

hey Zoltan which carpets are you talking about? i put in my own for mud over the standard ones. the standard ones are the same color.

oh yeah those are ones I bought for rainy days to wipe wet feet. i normally have them stored away.

okay... is there a reason why not?
