Out of Shannon Briggs's 68 PRO fight career = 60-6-1-1, KO's 53 career - Only 8 fights are against legit top opposition on paper worth talking about! Briggs made a career of fighting journeymen and tomato cans level of opponents. Only 1 fully legit victory, where Briggs was behind on the score cards and near exhausted managed to stop Siarhei Liakhovich in final 30 seconds in the 12th round for the WBO world heavyweight title. 1. A mega GIFT decision over 49 year old "Big" George Foreman where Foreman won 10 of 12 rounds easily + broke Brigg's nose and yet they robbed the legend. Briggs ran away from Foreman all night and won 2-3 rounds with a weak margin. That was a disgusting robbery as Briggs made nothing to deserve a victory. 2. Briggs was knocked-out by Lennox Lewis in 5 rounds. 3. Francois Botha did the better fight and clearly was snubbed out of a victory with Briggs given a gift draw. 4. Lost a UD to untested Jameel McCline, a fight Briggs should have won over, but gave up in. 5. Was out-boxed completely by Sultan Ibragimov as he lost evrey round with larger margins. 6. Ray Mercer was an old, pale shadow of his warrior self of the 90's to earliest 00's. 7. Was out-boxed completely by Sultan Ibragimov as he lost evrey round with larger margins and Briggs had near desperate tried to avoid Ibragimov before with false claims of injury, illness and delaying. Briggs did not want to fight his mandatory WBO challanger. 8. Was completely and brutally destroyed by Vitali Klitschko and had his entire face demolished, something that made him spent a long time in hospital and requiring several surgeries to fix. BTW; Briggs have 3-times in his career been caught using illegal substances (!)
Wish I'd spent more time following Briggs in the 90's...I didn't really know about him until recent years (Let's go Champ!) which is a shame cos I really like him...Great personality...From the UK
He was really good and had explosive power. Unfortunately he became known for his antics more than his fighting prowess. There’s a reason why he never held a major world title against major opposition. When he finally won the WBO title it was against lesser competition. His record was unfortunately padded full of opposition he was remarkably better than, so it was hard to gauge where he lined up. Every time he faced Class A competition he could never convert a win.
This was the beginning of when everyone was getting their stats padded af. It's significantly worse today but this is where it was starting. Shannon was among a lot of boxers who were fighting bums for a while until a champ got too old or slow so he could take it.
I miss the 90' boxing, so many HW talents. Tyson, Hollyfield, Bowe, Lennox, Ruddock, Mercer, Moorer, Morrison, Botha, Briggs, Foreman, McCall, Rahman, and a bunch of second tier but dangerous fighter like Berth Cooper, Joe Hipps, and more.
Dude imagine living in the same neighborhood as Riddick Bowe, Shannon Briggs and Mike Tyson, NY was wild.

@@schuylerkrizay6192 he fought the best guys in his era tho, lennox lewis, george foreman, ray mercer, frans botha, klitschko, luciano zolyone, and he got 53 knockouts outta 60 wins, 37 of them knockouts came in the very first round💀 come on man he gotta be an all time great, he only got 6 losses as well, he been knocked out only once by darroll wilson, even lennox lewis couldn't knock shannon out, he won by TKO, shannon briggs is in fact an all time great, greatness in not guarding yourself from people, greatness is being accepted by the people!!! LETS GO CHAMP!!!✊🥊
There will never be another decade like the 90's heavyweight division, too many top dogs. Not to mention in overall sports, music, movies/citcoms and not to mention the fashion🤩...
Quality madness
I'm lucky to have grown up in the 90s.
Wen yu have nothing to lose and everything to gain you have the recipe for greatness. Tough times breed tough people.
Well, said, I have Godly respect for him, orphan but beat the odds.
Respect for you always my brother
I love Briggs! Through all the adversity from chikdhood to his career he never lost his humor nor his empathy. He brought himself and his friends to a higher lebel of existence. Let's keep going Champ!
He kO poverty and achieved a family with two kids, priceless, a true champion
Your videos are funny, factual, informative, and entertaining. Great job sir
lol I didn’t know that was him in Bad Boys 2 💪🏾
One of the best left hooks I’ve seen on a heavy weight.
Back when fighting 4 times in 1 year and some change was considered inactive. Nowadays, inactive is no fights in 2 years
The commentary is hilarious, and I love it.
Ol George deserves every penny
Shannon the cannon is in the top 5 favorites for life. I love the champ !!!!! Let's go
You should do a review on Corrie Sanders(the South African). RIP. Arguably the hardest hitting heavy weight and one of only 3 to KO Vladimir
His death was shamefully tragic.
@@diogeneslantern18 What happened exactly? I remember it had something to do with a robbery at a birthday party
Wow! He passed me by. Heard the name but never knew, I have been in and out over the years regards following the sport, but this really showed me up. Great video by the way. Very well done!
Inactive only fighting 4 times in a year and a half, i wish they would fight that often now 😂
Didn't know you and TY were childhood buddies.. . that's something very Special Man
Love the comment about Snoop Dog's blunt 😂😂😂
Super excellent commentary; I like this. Great documentary too. Thanks for doing this!
I'm 46 I can't imagine getting In the ring with the cannon. George Forman was the man
I never knew what this man was about. I am a fan now! Great video!!!
Shannon was a face book friend and I told him he had most 1st round KO's of any boxer in history and he seemed unaware he held this designation. (Subsequently I learned Peter Maher was historic first place had 50 1st round KO's, so Briggs is second most.)
Briggs has more 1st Round KO's than George Foreman and Mike Tyson COMBINED!
U have the perfect voice that sucks u in and keeps u there! Makes the story so much better! The wording and sequence of subjects in next to none!
Let's go champ!!
I never knew who Shannon Briggs was but I do now.... respect OG...
this dude was a straight up beast, imagine if Cus dumato coached him. Bro woulda been unstoppable.
A great addition to the most amazing time in boxing.
If he ends up boxing Rampage Jackson he gonna put that man in a body bag😂
Thank you for this video. I never seen him before and it's crazy. Much love for telling his history
I give great kudos to The Cannon and others like Tyson who escaped the mean streets and gave themselves and their precious families........ as good taste of the good life ! Without their hard work and determination there wouldn't be a good life for themselves and families ...... they may have even been forgotten like many whom die in tragedy & have their ashes buried kin paupers hill. Congrats Cannon and Tyson and other warriors ........ Nick , NavyBlueSmoke , LST-1195,
He would better stay homeless
.
Donc
That was EXPLOSIVE, insightful, & HILARIOUS!!
❤🥊🔥🤣🖤💥
His trolling of Vitali was legendary.
Wladimir* not vitali
hate him or love him....the man left his mark
Out of Shannon Briggs's 68 PRO fight career = 60-6-1-1, KO's 53 career - Only 8 fights are against legit top opposition on paper worth talking about!
Briggs made a career of fighting journeymen and tomato cans level of opponents.
Only 1 fully legit victory, where Briggs was behind on the score cards and near exhausted managed to stop Siarhei Liakhovich in final 30 seconds in the 12th round for the
WBO world heavyweight title.
7. Was out-boxed completely by Sultan Ibragimov as he lost evrey round with larger margins and Briggs had near desperate tried to avoid Ibragimov before with false claims
of injury, illness and delaying. Briggs did not want to fight his mandatory WBO challanger.
8. Was completely and brutally destroyed by Vitali Klitschko and had his entire face demolished, something that made him spent a long time in hospital and requiring several
surgeries to fix.
BTW; Briggs have 3-times in his career been caught using illegal substances (!)
Exactly how i felt watching this and he was having serious trouble with the elderly !!
wierdo 😕
9. Bad haircut
@@davidthomas9123 Well put!

Considering his background, his antics are God sent.
This was the beginning of when everyone was getting their stats padded af. It's significantly worse today but this is where it was starting. Shannon was among a lot of boxers who were fighting bums for a while until a champ got too old or slow so he could take it.
I don’t know anyone who thought Foreman lost against briggs.
Never knew he was that good wow thankyou for the history lesson.
How George Foreman doesn't have severe cte is beyond me
He did take a 10 year break from boxing and most of his fights were early round knockouts
His fight against Holyfield would give pugilistic dementia to anyone
This damn near made me cry. To loved black heavy weight champs in the hood enjoying themselves.
Shannon Briggs was one heck of a fighter. Personally, I think he was underrated and the media ignored him. Foreman on the other hand is a LEGEND.
