S1E1 1965-66 Tonka Dump Truck

S1E1 1965-66 Tonka Dump Truck #315. I have been toying with making videos following some Tonka restorations. This 1965-66 era Dump truck was found on eBay. It looked like a good “first” restoration. The project started out nicely. Disassembly went smoothly, and then that was where the project went south. My sandblaster was having some issues and did not do very well. Then I sprayed primer, then 3 coats of paint, followed by 3 coats of clear coat. Painting was a total failure. There were spots where the paint wouldn’t stick. Where the paint did stick, I couldn’t sand out the orange peel without burning through to primer. It was awful. Back to the sandblaster and to start over. I did this 3 times before I decided I needed to try something new. Time to learn how to powder coat…I hope this goes well.
