Oh my gosh, I had one when I was younger. It turns out my was buried under some stuff in my parent's garage so I brought it home to my own kids a few weeks ago. I don't have the means to restore it but I did take it apart and clean it up for them.
@@TomSchisler That's great 😊. Your children can now see what meaningful toys look like👍. Unfortunately, you can't buy anything like this in stores anymore.
Thank you for your comment. I am very happy that you liked the video. Yes you are right, it looks like new. than bought it in the store. Now the tonka crane can survive for the next 30 years.
My brother and I had these. Spent more time arguing about who’s truck was ours than moving sand/dirt. My grandfather finally got tired of the arguing and painted mine red…😅. Loved this restoration. 👍🏼
I have a tonka crane my parents bought me for Christmas when I was little. I still have it and would like to one day have it restored and give it to my grandson.
Very nice work, P & H stands for Pawling and Harnishfeger, P & H mining equipment was a subsidiary og Joy Global Inc. which was acquired by Komatsu Ltd. in 2017.
I have the Nylint version, which is mostly the same, except Nylint cranes were tri-axle instead of bi-axle, which I always thought and still do think look better.
at my old elementary school (2020) we had a 1960s red tonka wheel loader but I loved it one of my favorite sand box trucks, But, as every thing else, it was destroyed in 3 months. 😭😭😭😭😥
Really cool find. If I may, are some of these for clients or just lucky finds?... lol. Nice that it you found this in great shape. I know my Tonka dump was a lot worse. Great job giving it "new" life.
Interesting work, completely finished the crane unit then tackled the cab unit. By the time you finished the crane, I was looking around for Blythe truck frame. Thanks for sharing this video. 👍😁🇨🇱🇺🇸
I think this crane is a beautiful model. You have carried out a beautiful and successful restoration! Everything is beautiful painted. However, I miss some moments of the assembly, such as the assembly of the crane turning system.
@@MWRestoration all the paint is gone ,the windshield is yellowed and cracked , the teeth on the bucket are bent/ missing, it would be great if I could find someone to fix it for me so can give back it to my dad. I will try to find a picture if you are interested
Please understand that I do not restore other projects. Because I don't have time due to time constraints. If the tonka is that badly damaged I would buy a second one to butcher it off. Then you have the necessary parts you need.
So glad I found you. Awesome video. Preparing to restore my first Tonka toy. Do you have a link to supplies like the rubber exhaust pipes, tank, lift handle?
I had the whole collection of tonka truck, bulldozer, front end loader, Crane and the grader and a couple more but I don't remember.Between me and my brothers we had the whole collection until my older brothers decided to blow them with firecracker 🧨🧨🧨 M-80's. I was pissed about that.
I have this exact same model but I am missing the window and cab on the crane part and the crank lift assy I'm wondering if those parts are still available I hope so would you know by chance
I have a crane a crane that I want to restore . Where do you purchase the rivet kit and installation tool as well as the decals, new cable for the boom and bucket. I do not have a powder coat system and will be spray painting it, what is the color yellow that matches the original color? Can you provide a breakdown of the chemicals you used to clean the plastic parts and the Tires?
As always inspiring again. I have an old Crane too waiting to be fully restored. Why did you cut the axles in half rather than fix them up entirely with the use of 'original' hubcaps? And I see the use of modern conical fasteners with newly threaded rods. Are repro's of the old ones not available? Just being curious, because I'll have to make some decisions as well, regarding my Crane. And do you know how to get brown tarnished windshields transparent again? Nice job you've done there!
Who of you also had a Tonka crane?

Still have mine in the attic. One of my most favorite pieces. Wish it looked like yours! AWESOME WORK. 👌👌
I have about 150 mighty tonkas, several of every model. Looking forward to more restoration videos.
I had one Tonka as a kid and it was very similar to this crane. So nice see one come back to life.

Just watched this w my 2 yr old son. We loved it!!
I ALWAYS wanted one of these as a child, ALWAYS!
I think every kid would want one of these 😁
Я о такой игрушке в детстве мечтал. Даже делал сам подобное из дерева. Вот было время. 😢
Outstanding restoration. Love it. 👍👍

That's a very solid restoration job right there. As good as new, if not better.

Managing to fit back in that exhaust must have been a huge relief.
Yes man 😁😅
Wow. That crane was in incredibly good condition before the restoration. Quite a find.
Yes you are right. It wasn't extremely rusty.
I grew up playing won't with one of those Tonka type of trucks
Nostalgia ❤️
Amazing job my friend congratulations

Never had the crane, but I did get the classic dump truck
Tonka was a very great toy. They have so many different models
Gorgeous restoration job as always, my dude! 🤟🤜🤛

I still have my crane up in the attic unfortunately it looks like the before rather than the after it was well loved for many many years
Amazing to see the toy you also own since childhood be turned to it's full shiny glory 😍
Mine definitely looks better than this one used to do
Now the Tonka can survive again for the next 30 years 😁😎

Very cool Tonka, well done.
Thanks Bro 😊👌
very good job !

Good job.

I had one as a kid in the 80s the boom was solid back had no holes
Tonka was also a very popular brand back then. Unfortunately, they no longer make metal toys😔.

I got to say it I wish I had the tools to restore stuff.
I had one when I was young I was 4 or 5 but I had one of those tonka truck very hard to brake since all metal they dont make toys like they used to
Nowadays toys are not like they used to be. Than just plastic. I think it's a shame.

I have two of them one old and one slightly newer
Cool that you also own Tonka toys

So many parts😍 wonderful work as always!

Hi, this is a great video. I am going to try and tackle the nickel plating and was wondering if you have any advice.

What a really thorough restoration work! Great job
im just sayin but why would you spray paint the tires and rims? you know how its going to look in no time
Is it just me or does it look like it bends in the middle to fold the crane up so it can safely drive on the roads?
My dads got the same one in my grandparents basement, everything is very rusty and probably needs to be replaced
Then they also restore their tonka crane. give her a second life ❤️

Bonjour pouvez-vous me dire où je peux trouver les rivets et les coupelles pour bloquer les axes des roues. Merci
Why replace the wire with string?
You’ve gotta be an electrician?
If you want an extra special kick, pour sodium hydroxide on that acid bath. . . . .NO!!! Actually, don't EVER DO THAT! LOL
