i may have raced pro maybe like seven times total in the mid eighties and as i was walking though the pits i see this guy giving goggles to some of the riders so i walked over to him to see if i could get a pair and he says to me your from Pennsylvania and wears glasses and he goes in a box and hands me like i dont know how many pairs to many and tear offs , fog spray , stickers that i still have to this day and ill never forget that moment and then i see him like maybe a week or two later at the next race and he calls me over to his van we talked for few minutes and loads me up again and says to me dont quote me on this but it was like good luck and be safe he was just so kind and generous and cared for my safety a true gentleman , historian and legend God blessed this man
I live less that 2 miles from where Bevo and John Savitski learned to ride around Atlas, Pa. Everyone rode dirt bikes in the coal lands surrounding the area. Bevo and his wife Helen make everyone feel like family. John Savitski was one hell of of a rider in his day and now owns a very successful excavation and trucking business still called Stadium Dirt Designs. He is one of the hardest working men I know besides my father who also worked in the coal business. Thanks Ping for a great interview!
I was 12 years old and I had a Honda XR80, my first bike. We lived in Sacramento so Hangtown was my local track. Me and my Dad went to Hangtown one Sunday and there was virtually nobody there this particular day…, but Donny Cantaloupe was there practicing and guess who was there with him??? Bevo.. ❤️ They were both super nice and had no problem talking and letting us hang with them for the afternoon. Thank you DC and Bevo for a GREAT Memory ❤️
"Hey, where's Bevo?" What a great answer! I've been paying attention to motocross since the 1970's. His name seems to have been around for as long for as I can remember. What a legend.
wow Bevo i was there at huron that day david bailey crashed on that tripple out of the turn .. there was a donnie hansen motox school that weekend i also attended and to this day that is one trophy i still have
My friends and I rode our bicycles down to the Carlsbad shopping mall where Roger DeCoster's with his works bikes were on display and he was signing autgraphs and answering questions. We snuck into the 72 Trans AMA at Carlsbad raceway, I got on the start line and took a pictue of Roger DeCoster next to Ake Jonson on his Maico. I still have that picture.
Great interview. I raced many of the same events Bevo and John were at. Sleeping in a hot van (no air) was my life on the road also. It was good punishment to get ready for brutal heat during the 40 plus 2.
met BEVO at lorettas when he worked at and sold SCOTT goggles. My boys got hooked up by BEVO every time we went. Great guy. Did not know he is now 100 o/o now. Pretty lame probably but I learned something!
Legend. When I go to the races, I'm not so enamored by the racers as I am the legends who are there. Was at the Denver SX, and between the races I pretty much just stood at the Pro Circuit tent watching Mitch Payton. Didn't see Bevo. Had I, I most certainly would've stalked him for a bit....lol..... Listened to the whole show, and when they were talking about the fall from dominance of the US at MXDN, Bevo mentioned that the rules changed. I forget exactly how he said it changed, but he's smart enough to point out that the U.S. has the advantage of having a much larger rider pool to pick from, and the rule change narrowed that advantage around the time the U.S. started losing the MXDN. Other than his comment, many say it's because of Supercross, but the U.S. had SX long before the fall from dominance at MXDN. Seemed to me the rule change coincided with the shift in power. Anyone here remember that rule change and what year it happened? I'm here listening to the interview again (well worth it), but thought I'd ask.
If I were rich could do whatever I wanted, I would go to all the nationals before I'd go to sx MX is what everyone races as amateur to be a pro. Its roots of the sport
Do you mean World SX, not World Motocross? If so, I think it'll even affect the Nationals. I bet quite a few guys who run typically outside the top 6-7 will see it as an opportunity to grab a title somewhere that's at a noteworthy series. I suspect this'll be yet another means of diluting the U.S. MX series, unfortunately. We see more riders going SX only now than I remember.
Gatorback rosies cafe late ? 70s early 80s ?,,:) winter am after race stop off before holiday inn epic fun ,buckwheat,bolt,bevo,........fun times, have a pic of us shaking hands at gatorback, late 80s,I titled: I SHOOK SINATRAS HAND !!!!

Bevo is one of the Salt of the Earth folks in off road motorcycling. Makes everybody feel like anyone ie royalty.
It is interesting to hear Bevo's stories. This was when the world was mostly normal.
AWESOME HISTORY SHOW PING !!! A++
I’ve ridden inside a cooler down gravity cavity while full beers are being thrown from one side of the track to the other. Cooler races were hilarious
@@EarthSurferUSA I was 14 and my older brother sent me in hot. 😂
The party at Washougal used to be epic
Bevo...The Grandfather of Motocross.

Long live the CR500!

If !Bevo isnt in the Hall of Fame, he should be. At least an honorable mention! Speaking of HOFers, I'll say it again...
GET LARRY MAIERS ON!
He most certainly should be in the MX Hall of Fame!
Before for PRESIDENT 😂

Whiskey throttle never fails, excellent content as usual! Did you guys ever do one with kevin windham?
Soon
Another good one pinger. Hey what are chances of a Donny and grant guest appearance. Miss the dynamic
If I were rich could do whatever I wanted, I would go to all the nationals before I'd go to sx
MX is what everyone races as amateur to be a pro.
Its roots of the sport
SX sucks, its all about death defying jumps. Outdoor MX is all about the racing and 2 strokes rule!
Bevo is a good guy! E-Town!!!!!!!!N.J.!!!!!!!
True story on Fire Extinguisher's.
Holiday Inn's got HAMMERED, I heard.
A friend of Bob Hannah is a friend of mine...
Great show! Love his stories.! World Mtocross, will it affect arena cross?

Ron Tiechner
GREAT interview with bevo!!.not a fan of the co-host format..except for Langston.
More riders that never raced at a pro level know who Bevo is. I could name another gear rep. Maybe Glover for Dunlop but he was a rider.
I bet you'd be surprised how many of us amateurs who grew up riding in the 70's and 80's and even 90's know about Bevo.
Last . Ryon shields or once was ?
Glad to know Bevo was one of the "Hill People" UnaFUCKINdilla🇺🇸🤣
Keep the outdoors for sure ,just keep the races in geographical order. No back and forth on the coasts.
Tar man hit mellanöstern så får man mellanöstern...!!

Justin Beaver ain’t no Marshmallow, just saying…
I can't stand the SX track's today. Bring back Savitsky!
Yep, SX sucks! Death defying jumps and ticket sales are the agenda, not racing.
Forti?
Devo Forti... Lol
Was that the z900 u were riding
