This movie brings me back to childhood memories when i got hooked watching cmovies...and learn to watch with english subs eventhough they were so small to read..those days when kdrama isnt known yet..i cried so much on the story and the OST, unforgettable!!! till now i know its a masterpiece from this story...

The movie "Silk" is visually very beautiful. Much of it takes place in Japan with the setting being the 1800s. That movie was filmed mainly in France and Japan. There are many Chinese, Korean and Japanese movies you will appreciate if you like stories that deal with character development rather than sensationalism. It rare to find any US movies to be as good as movies from other countries. Butterfly lovers is especially well done and very emotionally tragic. The English Shakespearean version of this movie is Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 movie, "Romeo and Juliet". Unfortunately, this movie is no longer available on UA-cam for free. As I listened to the words, I envisioned scenes from that movie. The actual movie title is "The Lovers" (1994). It is also called "The Butterfly Lovers". There were 2 versions on UA-cam. One was a version with English subtitles and the other was without subtitles. Unfortunately, neither is available on UA-cam. You might be able to find it in which the movie is divided into many smaller files. If you do see the movie, you will be crying or shedding tears at the end of the movie. It is that impactful. In other parts of the movie, you will smile or chuckle. It is said that Casablanca was the greatest love story movie but I think this is better. Bye the way, my mother named me after Bogart's character in the movie, Casablanca. My friends and I use the site called Tecent QQ. We chat and exchange exchange photos, videos and music. That is why you will see that several of my music videos have the lyrics on the screen in both English and Chinese. Tencent QQ has an international version which has a translator built into it. There is a desktop version and a mobile phone version. The desktop version has lost many of it function due to Windows 10 updates. Tencent has not maintained updates on the desktop version. I think the cellphone version has been updated because the people in China tend to be more cellphone users than desktop users. I have the movie as a single file and also I have it broken up into several smaller files. It may be possible to send the 11 files as 11 email attachments. Let me know what you decide.

This one is probably meant for new n younger generation. The Ivy Ling Po n Betty Loh Ti opera version in early 60s is quite faithful to the story. I enjoyed both.
I am glad you liked my music video of this movie. Yes, this movie , especially the last several minutes, will cause many eyes to fill with tears. The dramatic non-action movies from China, Korea and Japan are far superior those made in the US. This movie is surely a classic. If you can read English or understand Italian, I recommend you view another classic movie( and also one of my all time favorites) is the Italian movie, "Cinema Paradiso". Be sure to find the "Director's Cut/version" of this movie. This is more complete than the shorter version that was released in the US.

The actual movie title is "The Lovers" (1994). It is also called "The Butterfly Lovers". There were 2 versions on UA-cam. One was a version with English subtitles and the other was without subtitles. Unfortunately, neither is available on UA-cam. You might be able to find it in which the movie is divided into many smaller files.
If you do see the movie, you will be crying or shedding tears at the end of the movie. It is that impactful. In other parts of the movie, you will smile or chuckle. It is said that Casablanca was the greatest love story movie but I think this is better. Bye the way, my mother named me after Bogart's character in the movie, Casablanca. So I am prejudice in favor of Casablanca, but "The Lovers(aka The Butterfly Lovers) and also "Cimema Paradiso"[Director's Cut version] are better as a love story movie compared to Casablanca.

@@DrinkingStar I need movies about Liang Zhu. I know there are different movie versions about this story. But I can only find the Love Eterne version. It would be very helpful if you know about another Liang Zhu movie I can watch.

My friends and I use the site called Tecent QQ. We chat and exchange exchange photos, videos and music. That is why you will see that several of my music videos have the lyrics on the screen in both English and Chinese.
Tencent QQ has an international version which has a translator built into it. There is a desktop version and a mobile phone version. The desktop version has lost many of it function due to Windows 10 updates. Tencent has not maintained updates on the desktop version. I think the cellphone version has been updated because the people in China tend to be more cellphone users than desktop users.
I have the movie as a single file and also I have it broken up into several smaller files. It may be possible to send the 11 files as 11 email attachments. Let me know what you decide.

The great music. Too bad, this entertaining movie doesn't really tell the story well. The opera version is the best.
This one is probably meant for new n younger generation. The Ivy Ling Po n Betty Loh Ti opera version in early 60s is quite faithful to the story. I enjoyed both.
Sadness
I am glad you liked my music video of this movie. Yes, this movie , especially the last several minutes, will cause many eyes to fill with tears. The dramatic non-action movies from China, Korea and Japan are far superior those made in the US. This movie is surely a classic.
If you can read English or understand Italian, I recommend you view another classic movie( and also one of my all time favorites) is the Italian movie, "Cinema Paradiso". Be sure to find the "Director's Cut/version" of this movie. This is more complete than the shorter version that was released in the US.

I am not into anime. I prefer to see real actors. If there is a non-anime version please post the link. If it is on something like Tubi, Prime, or some similar thing that I can watch on TV, please let me know where to find it. Thanks.

@@dellas1986 I don’t know how to respond to your question, but talking just about Romeo & Juliet and the Butterfly Lovers is insufficient without mentioning an anime couple whose love story is as beautiful and tragic as the two classic couples.
