@@lightsuplightsdown3018 yes it's a time taking job. I had only a little rust spot on the arch but i wanted to be sure that all hidden rust is cut away. There are some project pics on my instagram @eddie_w81
I cant afford for you guys to do my mx5 unfortunately but i'm ok ish at welding but is there any tips or a possible future video of explaining the best way of welding the rear sill and arch? Mines not too bad but its bubbling up on the top of the arch and she sills are a little bit rust and i'm going a full custom respray and may aswell replace those panels to be on the safe side
Yes there is no point carrying out a respray on top of rust, so you are doing the right thing by repairing that first, our advice is to make sure you cut it all out and replace with new good metal, otherwise it will just come back
I've looked into the logistics to get to you guys from France as well for my rusty NBFL chassis rails...it's gonna take some days off aha. Hopefully next fall, they're not that bad yet (or so I think...) You guys do have a solid rep on our forums ;) Silly question : how bad does rust spread on a car that is kept in a dry garage and never goes out in the wet?
There was a time not so long ago we told NA owners they are not worth repairing along with 205 GTi's, Renault 5 Turbo's, XR3's............. so unless you have a magic ball there's no way of knowing what is and what is not worth fixing!
@@stephenmorgan5100 but if the repair cost 1.5 k and you can pick up a good one for around that or bit more then obviously makes sense to part it out if you have time or just stick it on eBay and use the money for perfecting another for the price of repair
Hi Cameron, Thank you for your interest, but we can't discuss costs here, if your car needs welding works please feel free to send us an email with some information about what is required, ideally with photos, then we will be able to give you an estimate, you can send that to garath@themx5restorer.co.uk Regards, Garath

We are glad you want to bring your car to us, we had quite a few in from Europe last year.
The rust shouldn't spread much if the car is kept dry
How much do you charge for a job like this
The NB owner will properly tell you to keep the car haha...not worth fixing unless there's some sentimental attachment to it
We did end up fixing that car, it was all done last year, this video is an older one

What was the total cost for that French car's repair?
