      A lot of the warmth and fuzzyness you hear is from the compression of the recording.

    When I was a kid my friends who played all wanted to be Jimi Page. I wanted to be Segovia. When I first started playing my dad brought home a double album called The Ten Masters of the Guitar and when I heard Segovia doing Malaguena I was blown away. I wanted to be able to play like that so badly. This clip shoes just how effortless he made it look. A true master for the ages.

      Pardon the type-o I can so relate to your comment. I had my brother Victor who was the best friend I had guiding me . He would then teach me what I needed by feelings what grabbed my heart. He could envision what I would have to learn by truly feeling what he heard me try to do with a guitar.
      We lived Segovia,Montoya and Nono00

      It echoes half as long as it should, because they had him talking too much and cutting out all the repeating passages in the work. Which is a pity.

      I am so glad that I got to take a few lessons with one of his best students. His name was Andrej Metsnakov (idk how to spell his last name not gonna lie). He came hear feom the Ukraine YEARS ago and taught in Mansfield, Ohio for awhile. He had many pictures of him from childhood all the way to adulthood doing lessons with Andres Segovia.

Muchas gracias.

Though very different instruments (both wonderful), the sound was truly created in his musical understanding or vision of what it could be, his technique and an artistic soul

    I suspect they asked Segovia how much it would cost for him to play the entire piece, then asked him to play it without the introduction or any of the repeating passages. That's the only way they could afford him, and it cut the time of the performance in half. Which is a shame, because Sor put repeating sections in many of the variations with the intention of allowing the performer to introduce his or her own diversity of interpretation each time a segment was repeated. Never mind. It's all over and done with pretty quickly by Segovia in this video....
    I wish he'd spent less time talking and more time playing the piece as it is actually scored. He's a much better player than a talker.

    senza nulla togliere alla grandezza del personaggio, a livello di esecuzione l'ho trovata davvero poco pulita, con diverse imprecisioni, mi pare abbastanza oggettivo, al netto della qualità dell'audio. probabilmente oggi siamo abituati a livelli di pulizia del suono e di precisione dell'esecuzione molto al di sopra, sono l'unico a pensarla così?

      @@pjme3426 No. Ma questo è del tutto irrilevante. Quanto lo sarebbe se lei mi domandasse se io sia vegetariano o meno, oppure induista o musulmano. È completamente inconferente la sua domanda. Infatti, io ho risposto a tutt'altra questione. Gliela ricordo: lei domandava se fosse il solo a pensarla come lei sul brano del video. E dato che nessuno, almeno così mi pare, ha detto di concordare con lei in circa un anno, presumo che effettivamente sia il solo. Tutto qua. Non serve essere chitarristi, anzi non c'entra niente. Si tratta di logica. Saluti.

    • @MrSerpes
      @MrSerpes Рік тому +7

      Come esecuzione è inconfondibile, nello stile, nella tecnica. Che oggi i grandi interpreti siano più puliti e precisi è cosa evidentissima, e direi ancora più evidente la discutibilità di certi aspetti tecnici come i glissati continui, i portamenti, anche una certa incoerenza metrica. Nessun interprete oggi suonerebbe in questo modo. Del resto al tempo di Segovia non esisteva, almeno per la chitarra, l'idea della fedeltà allo stile dell'epoca, e così Segovia suonava tutto secondo il suo stile che fosse Mudarra, Milan, Bach, Sor, Giuliani o Castelnuovo Tedesco! E questo non toglie assolutamente nulla alla grandezza e importanza di Segovia. Per inciso, persino il suo modo di tenere la chitarra e la posizione della mano destra oggi è abbandonato, basta dare un'occhiata agli interpreti della generazione di Russell, e ancora sono diverse le chitarre da concerto e sono migliorate tantissimo le corde.
