I love the fact that you show your triumphs as well as your failures, most channels edit out the failures. You’re rapidly becoming my favorite channel, keep up the great work. Be careful with your back though, that motor has got to weigh over 200 lbs. I had the privilege of spending a week with one of those fishery guys fishing the Nass valley, he really knew his stuff.

All this great stuff you are doing could be lost to you in one careless moment. The things you do that are unsafe make me turn away in fear. That was one. Please think first, then react.

agree - be careful with any heavy stuff; motor, logs, walls etc - if you hurt your back it will be a lifetime of pain and will severely limit what you can do

Tufte is pronounced “toof-tah “ in Norwegian. Great job NOT falling in the river trying to get the motor off the boat. I was in your shoes 20 years ago on an off-grid property. It’s tough doing things solo. So much easier when you have a 2nd set of hands from time to time. Last note….STOP being apologetic for “rambling” about your future, being alone all winter, etc. It is brave to be vulnerable and talk about what you’re thinking & feeling. That’s why we’re here!

You had me absolutely pissing myself with the boat splits, we could all see it coming. I was almost expecting an Aussie narrator saying "....this is me face" from destination F*&$!?! Including this unexpected giggle, the episode further expanded the well-rounded content-showing what appears to be a natural understanding of what we viewers enjoy watching. Keeping it real and spontaneous is the bee's knees (HELLO BEAR??!). The jabbering when it happens, coupled with unprompted daily doings, are a natural, palatable combo, so common in homesteading.

If your not going to live there in the winter and you got lots of green to spend on a room in town , then it's no problem, but if your gonna live there you better kick yourself in the ass and get going 😮 make a priority list and do them one at a time . Just some advice from someone who has done something a LITTLE like what you are doing-make a list of all the key things you need to do on a regular basis (fire lighting, etc.) Then make sure that you have on hand multiple ways of doing that task (matches, lighters, ferro rod). It gives you more security, especially in winter.

Hey Shawn. Really enjoy your show and all that you are doing. It's awesome. Sounds like you got a good plan. Take your time and please be safe. Damn moving that boat motor by yourself could cause injury. Take care

Hello, Shawn. I was wondering how close you were to the horrific fires, but the sky looks pretty good around you. Hope it stays that way. Try some stones in your fire pit next time, and put your fire onto those, then place your chicken etc onto the stones, wrapped in the leaves and covered with soil. It may take less cooking time. In New Zealand it's known as a Hangi; and in Pacific Islands as an Umu. Look it up on the 'net'.

I want to see you succeed also! You are my best entertainment. I hope you get easier winter access to your property. So you could go into civilization periodically so you don’t get cabin fever.

I envie your 40 acres up north. I live in the mtns of Colorado and the best tool I have is my Compact Kubota tractor, B7500. With the front loader and the box scrapper is has allowed me to clear my 5 acres with ease. You can do so much in such a short amount of time with a tractor. You could run a saw, a generator a pump and so much more with the power take off feature of a tractor. You work so hard, don't burn yourself out before you have a chance to enjoy your paradise..... 78 year old from Colorado..😁

You should find some milk crates and cut off one side and zip tie them together so you can put them on your four-wheeler and have pockets and nothing will fall off zip ties help out a lot

Shawn - you might want to get a portable deer hoist to lift heavy stuff - just need a nearby tree, chain the hoist to the tree - lift really logs, the outboard etc -
Or get a small block&tackle like a Tie Boss or Nifty-Lift

In NZ we call those fire pit's a Hungi but usually done with hot rocks - less ash mess and the heat lasts a lot longer

Hi ... I've watched all your videos so far... and enjoyed them all in different ways. I particularly enjoyed this one though, because I saw you having an "easier" week than many before. I really enjoy your "rambling" because you are sharing your thoughts, and feelings, good and bad, and letting us get to know you better. I'm so glad you are as welcoming and friendly as you are.... it will help you in so many ways to come. Maybe think twice about running hard through the woods though... you don't need a sprained ankle.... believe me, I sure didn't enjoy my experience of it. Best wishes. Good luck.

Great to see you making progress and the summer sunshine. I remember seeing your first video, and thought you had maybe bitten off more than you could chew, with the bush and remote country. But you have done well, so kudos. Best wishes from Scotland.

Good job on getting that motor off the boat! Those things are heavy as hell! There are a few times I couldn't get it done myself on my old 1990 Evinrude 2 stroke. I weighed it... it's 205lbs dry. So good job from a banked boat 🎉
