- Episode 25 !! Wowww. A quarter of a hundred videos.
Living in a wilderness paradise can have some drawbacks. Access being one of them. On a good day it can be bliss to travel such a beautiful river, and on a bad day it can be challenging. In the end, it's always worth it. Nothing good comes easy. You'll love the views in this one. Some carpentry too.
This is a unique wilderness to call home. If you're new here, join the ride.

YES ! I Love it. Its like i can feel the joy of life right infront of me!
I predict when the snow flies and Shawn is working and surviving in 3 feet of snow, this channel is going to go through the roof. That's how "The Outdoor Boys" became huge. It wasn't so much the happy, smiley content as it was Luke digging a snow cave and surviving with only an Army blanket. Keep up the great work Shawn. We're rooting for you man.
He also was a Saturday morning tradition for alot of us. But i agree. He got big when he brought a small kid camping with next to nothing in below freezing weather and kept his kid warm.
I tried watching the outdoor boys today. The 4 months at our office grid cabin video... Felt like the majority of the video was just focused on his vehicles. Dunno if the other videos are any better. To each their own though.
we most definitely are rooting for him.
Yeah I watched this today and it was unbearable to watch him play with his toys, 14 ATVs are you kidding me? @@eatthecrow4113
This is by far my favourite outdoor channel. It's so genuine. I love it. I can tell it's hard to break your great spirit. Keep going, brother. There are not many YT channels like yours. Almost all boys and girls got so commercialized that I stopped watching them.
Agreed 100%. I subscribe to this and two other outdoor channels ...the rest just feel like rich dudes that can afford every vehicle and tool and don't seem genuine.
@@eatthecrow4113 Absolutely. Some of those channels reminds me the "Survival" production.
Thumbs up everyone it helps the Channel
I give him 2 😂😂😂 from both my accounts channels
Commenting does too!
@@mrs.4681In that case, hi!
How long do I have to hold them up?
I always do on most of the channels that I am subscibed to.
You know its great content when 45 minutes go by and you want more. Im hooked and I'm sure im not the only one.
You're doing great, keep it up,we are all pulling for you....
Absolutely 😊
... Yeah ! ... POSITIV !!! ...

Don't worry just be you. And people will watch your videos 😊

Brother, we feel and understand your pain. The wife and I have been on our off-grid homestead building our home now for over 2 years straight without a halt. Half of that time has been spent dealing with the problems that bring everything to a screeching halt. But we're almost at the end of the process for our home. Everything now takes twice the time and effort though. All of the little detail work can mentally tire you out. But the feeling is pretty awesome when you look at everything around you and realize you did it ALL. We're currently making our own butcher block counter tops from maple trees we've cut from our property, and the wife has made all kinds of nice furniture from the pine we've cut down. We've even learned cabinet making and built our own cabinets, solid wood doors, and more. We've only had our channel since we started this two years ago, so we've only got about 70 videos, but if you want to see how two old farts (my grumpy old self and an amazing wife) have managed to build a 1500 sq/ft home all by themselves, you'll feel better about what you're doing right now. And keep it up! It will be worth it, especially at your young age! We don't have that many years left in us and wish we'd started sooner in life, but we're here now and living an (almost) debt free life on 30+ acres of beautiful forests.
Thats amazing no matter what your age is! What an accomplishment 🎉 be proud of yourselves every day!
Oh wow. Thanks for that information. It's great to hear all of that.
I would love to see your progress
... Yeah ! ... ain't nothin' left to say !!! .. just .. " wish ya well " ...
@@cabinriveroutdoors I put a hundred down on you not surviving this winter by February, if you stay that long.
The opening was hilarious! So true!!
Yup. Funny shit. Love it.
Yep, I really had a good happy laugh!
Indeed. Most have no idea how hard living in wilds can be.
he should have done it onyfans style, with a crop top and make up on 🤣
@@Timtheranger That would have taken "Hilarious" to a whole new level!!🤪
When it comes to troubleshooting and repairing engines, UA-cam searches is your friend.
Stay away from the Evinrude motors. My buddy is a boat mechanic down here in the Lower Mainland... he says to stay away from them, nothing but issues. Btw, keep the intro as is. We, the viewers, love it how it is! Just a guy in the bush trying to make ends meet.
Great advice! Thank you
Except very few exceptions, YT is a grind for the most part. Don't give up man, you doing pretty great for a guy without a channel less than 1 year ago! And don't change, you got that!
Boat stands for:
B - break
O - out
A - another
T - thousand
Hope the river stays high enough for ya in the future. Thanks for another great video.
You're currently my top UA-camr. I love it, and im hooked. Keep it up. 🤙

Hang in there! You're making great progress. Slow and steady wins the race. It's inspiring to see your progress in the face of challenges. And the natural environment you're in is spectacular!
I absolutely love your channel. I look forward to your new episodes every Thursday. I really enjoy the way you put everything together with only the sounds of nature and what’s going on around you instead of loading it up with all kinds of background music. Very refreshing and very unique! Cheers!!
on the fruit trees, you can often get better and cheaper results by planting young whips in the fall, they will just look like nothing sticks. those more mature adolescent trees have all that foliage to support and it will take them time to adapt to the new soil and new spot, it's more likely they won't make it. the whips don't have all the foliage to support and will spend the first couple years putting energy into the roots and getting adjusted, which is what you want.🤙🤙
Great info! Thanks
Get that roof on Shawn!
I'm loosing sleep over it.
... Yeah ! ... it should be up there already !!! .. cause of the rain ! ... Voila ! ...
When he put the plywood on the porch…and not the roof… 😳😳 Keep up the spirit..!!
A hard working young man . Best of luck . Please carry a ten mil. Sidearm going back and forth on your trail
I don't think you can carry a handgun in Canada
Shawn stay the same. We love it.
Your authentic self is quite sufficient!!!!!!!!
You probably been told this before. 1) slow down in your boat and and impacts will not affect your motor as drastically and 2) make yourself a freaking paddle for your rubber boat. You’ll get better forward movement than with a 2 x 4.
😂😂
Your going to need a bunch of cords of firewood for this winter. Hope to watch you get some.
He has quite a large firewood stockpile underneath the tarp awning behind his 'editing shack'. Not sure if you joined in recently and haven't seen it, or never noticed. But he does have a significant amount of firewood built up already
Love this channel, I lived in BC years ago. I'm disabled now and can't get out into the wilderness anymore, living vicariously thru you.
Nice to see that Canada still has real men living here!!😉🙏👍👍👍
Lol. I try
@@cabinriveroutdoors You don't have to 'try'. You either got or or you don't. You do.
@@cabinriveroutdoors when I saw you lifting this motor onto your boat, somehow I realized, your doing the whole thing completely on your own out there. Huge respect for that.
I hope when you get more established, things can go more slowly for yourself. My guess is, then less things will break too.
@@fortytwo8388 my Sister swears he has Anatoly strength
Check to see if the motor can be shimmed up. On regular outboards, the cavitation plate can be even with the bottom of the boat, depending on applications some engines can be shimmed an inch or more which could help you avoid hitting as many rocks !
Your intro cracked me up!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I was sad when this episode came to an end. Keep up the fight.
👍👍
Hi Shawn, I normally don"t make comments on these channels but this is an exception. You have got great perserverance and discipline. Do not give up on those attributes and you will succeed. Best wishes to you.
You don't need the fancy shots, the boat cam is all id ever want to see
Love the video, I am praying for you, get into the cabin by winter
Love that this is filmed in British Columbia, familiar territory and business names, incredible scenery and a super hard working Canadian guy with a wry sense of humour.
Believe it or not Shawn, even with all the frustrations (some of your own making bro, a bit impulsive, as am I) there are many who would love to trade places with you!
Lots going for you!
Get the roof on!
Glad to see you got the boat motor back but sucks its still not working right. Most all of those older motors losing power randomly is lack of steady fuel input. Those quick connects at the tank and motor are NOTORIOUS for the o rings cracking/cutting. When i used to run them I always kept a new fuel connector/priming bulb/hose setup handy and a few spark plugs. The carb would be my next target and there are a TON of videos showing that carb being torn apart and put back together. Its very easy to do... but best not done over running water if at all possible 😅.
Glad to see you did get some of your stuff transported up to the cabin. You are SO close to drying it in so I hope your able to get that done so you have some room!
As for the bear and your pants.... Well Bear is tasty 😁
Wow- throwing those logs around like they were sticks.💪💪
I agree! You are one strong man! You definitely don’t need a gym out there.

Perhaps the most important part of an intro is doing an intro, even when you don’t want to. That’s when creativity outshines natural talent!
Was waiting patiently all day for your video to drop. Keep up the great work. Boat motor is pretty frustrating.
so was I, I went back and rewatched some early episodes there has been a couple things I have missed I guessed.
Both my wife and I eagerly await your video every Friday. Thank you for sharing.
From Australia.......
Bet it feels good to be home. Kudos for making it up the river with all those materials.
Perfect intro! So positive, 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
The wind blowing is nature telling you the clock is ticking & winter is coming. Easy for us sitting here telling you what we think you should do ....but I would dry in the main section of the new cabin first then work on the addition. You still need to get fire wood ready for winter. Loved the opening.
got into your channel approx 2-3 months ago. I really enjoy your editing and showing the hardships of living off grid. I'm in the same boat as you were. I need to take a risk of quitting my job and figuring it out by myself, while also learning to be more in tune with nature. I need to plan this out before I dive in, thanks for the inspiration. Keep doing you.
Love your videos! I'm Norwegian and it's fun to see you work with Tufte! The founder, Olaf Tufte, is an olympic gold medalist rower. He is a beast! Continue the the great work!
Love your show you have the best story going on UA-cam right now. Your trials and tribulations are an inspiration for all of us to never stop and always fight. Keep on keeping on and I can’t wait for your next episode. Thank you so much.
... Yeah ! ... HUSTLE !!! ... till ya got money to burn ! ... Voila ! ... that's what makes the world go round ...
I'm addicted to your channel. I couldn't do this so I'm living vicariously through you!!! Well done sir!!!
Better than the Discovery channel. My weekly movie night!
Its a lot of work establishing beacheads and as i say the digital records that you can immerse yourself into will continue to reenergize your spirits. Believe me. This ol grampa has been there. Cheers from the flatlands of Alberta M.
loving all of these!!!! your ability to persevere through adversity is awesome while staying positive!!!! thats why i keep watching!!
tie off both back corners of your boat to something before you try to mount the motor lol this is the second time we've watched it bob away on you. keep fighting the good fight and thanks for bringing us along!
also green pants with that life jacket make you look like Robin, your all set for a backwoods Halloween party
The landscape takes my breath away.
I'm a 50 something yr old lady from BC, been watching since day one and rooting for ya! It's funny how we are so afraid of the wilderness and all the beasts, when in reality, the encounters are so few. Proven by your "bravery" and apparent "non fear" to wander into their territory.
I put those in quotations because I really don't know what your feelings are at those moments.
It would be nice to know your past employment and skills history because it seems you are quite skilled at framing? Maybe a jack of many trades?
Keep up the raw work, its great to watch you succeed and get thru the realities.
Hi there, great to see another video! I give you so much credit and respect for what your doing. Keep up the amazing work 😊
That choke is a pump Shawn. Give it 3 full pumps, leave it pushed in to start, and it should go. 🤞
That missing chunk shouldn't affect things. I haven't noticed you giving that pump any grease though. 😮
Be sure to grease it after each day of use.
Shawn , im totally invested into your channel, sometimes UA-cam offers crap other times you strike gold . Your absolutely smashing it on video front , thx mate .
Ive spent weeks trying to find a solution to access to the cabin and the only idea I have is an air boat . It would make the river accessible 365 days of the year , I don't know much about them but chat is so supportive and educated that solutions would be offered up.
Can see your frustration with the boat but true to form your resilience overcame the downfalls.
Great video mate , stay safe n remember bears get hungrier short of winter, cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 👍..
Another Great Video. Love watching all the things it takes to get prepared. like for the trail, getting the lumber by river, building, and cooking! Thank you! I know videoing is a ball busted sometimes but we love it. Stay safe and God bless , hello from Michigan.
Trials and setbacks make you stronger
Nice end to my Thursday with another great video.
I've been watching you from day one. I like your content. I like how you build things in troubleshoot, and you keep a positive attitude. Keep up the good work.Nice show
Great video! The footage of you driving the boat up and down the river adds to the story perfectly. At times it felt like we were in the boat with you calling out left - right, head for the slack water it's deeper. felt like we were driving the boat from our couch. You're on to something with the new intro! 😁
I love outdoor boys. He is very likable. So are you. Only thing he has over you is he changes location. But, everyone loves building and watching someone remotely build their come up through the elements. I would suggest focusing on the pitfalls and developments of your cabin build. Stay focused on that. You will gain a huge following during that process. Then when you're finished with cabin you'll have a million followers that you can take on rides with making trails or building a small cabin on the island in the river. Focus on the cabin first and make that interesting.
Wow, thank you for this show. You are such a go-getter. You are so strong lifting those tree cuts. Amazing show love you. And the bear.🎉🎉
Geeezzz I felt your pain! There have been a couple times in my 60+ years of boating when I could not get the motor started; once in an emergency situation. There is no better feeling as when the old motor finally decides to kick in! Brrrrrrumm! ☺
... Yeah ! ... " this heck of a motor " ! .. " Son of a Gun " !!! ... Voila ! ... finaly he'll run ! ...
Got a lot accomplished!!! Very inspirational!!!
Should build your self a tram system to get across the river and move supplies on when water is high . Crane companies may have a good enough old cable you could pick up cheap as I have replace many in my day .
Love watching your videos. It has to be very challenging to make plans and then mother nature , a boat or a bear change your plans. But I guess that's life. Looking forward to seeing more adventures at the river and cabin.
Get a safety chain that hooks the motor to the boat.
Especially if the waters so low
Looking good so far!! I sure hope you have better days ahead.. Stay safe and have a great day.👍🤓👍🤓.Randy.
That’s a two thumbs up intro man great job .
Hey Brother!!!
Awesome, Excited for this one and more!!
Get that beautiful Argo & Trailer for it to use trail for travel and hauling material!!
Awesome video and content once again.

Hello, the boat ride was great.
love your humor bro... it makes things authentic ... i just love how your shows are more real and not staged .. everything is real even the emotion you show! i love your honesty too man for keeping things real with us.
I always look forward to your videos! JUST LIKE YOU ARE! But please be careful, you're going to put your back out.
You need two apple trees of different varieties, for polination. And protection from deer, just make some fencing from willow branches or cedar takes split off some old growth lying on the forest floor.
Having the boat back in action sure saved you loads of work getting it all out there. I'm not sure it is possible without it. Thankfully it looks like the fifty pull start was a once off.👍
Appreciate your content and great editing. The views are beautiful.
As just about everyone has already said, Your channel is my absolute favorite! Keep up the awesome work!
At 10:10 that boat motor would have been at the bottom of the river if it were me (lol). I know your frustration. Thank God you got it to start.
Panther Martin have very good trout lures.
Hey Shawn ❤
If you have watched the outdoor boys and see how Luke built his driveway on his last episode maybe you could do this at the small creek crossing.. then lay the logs over top .. just a thought.. STAY POSITIVE SHAWN, 👊 YOU WILL GET THERE ❤
Replaying each video 3x , it’s the least we can all do to help you financially just press play an go to sleep or a nice long drive or let it play while going for a long walk 😂 please use your old phones get em all goin 😂❤
Hope you can fix that motor without too much hassle. Just a thought on that shed roof off the cabin roof. Instead of butting into the wall under the eaves you could cut a bird's mouth and go on top of the top plate. That would give you another 8-12 inches of headroom on your outside wall. Or, you could keep the outside wall the same height and it would give you more pitch.
just keep going....dry it in and you'll feel a LOT better man !......OnWard...........
Hi
Got too give you A for never giving up. Keep up the good work. You have achieved a lot this week. 😊
Loved your intro. Had a good chuckle. Keep positive and keep building. Get your insulation up and wood stove roaring. Then you will be much more comfortable. Waiting for the next video. Keep safe.
I admire your positivity. Keep going, Shawn.

It is a job in itself just going up and down the river to get supplies to your cabin sight. My hat goes if to you. I think your channel is the best outdoor channel on UA-cam.
