Well done Murray. A lovely, reflective, video. The period of silence you offered whilst you reflected upon the tragedy, the memorial represented, was a very kind form of respect, giving your visit a sense of dignity and nod towards those poor souls and their families they left behind. It's always an inspiration to watch your very thoughtful and well-crafted videos - thank you.👍

Thanks for making such a thoughtful and respectful video. First time I had heard of this tragedy; and the silent section of your tribute gave us all the chance to think about the lives that were lost.

Hi Murray. These sites of plane crashes really are somber places. I visited one in my local hills a few weeks ago. Like this one it had a memorial for the brave men that list their lives.
Thank you for the link for us to read.
    All the best.

Thankyou for a very poignant video Murray. A beautiful landscape. It was emotional to think of the loss of the crew, their families, the rescue teams as well as the local people. My father flew Shackletons .. big old beasts.

Thanks for doing this Harris series Murray . I've thoroughly enjoyed it over the past week and it whetted my appetite for another trip there in the new year.

You were quite correct, the views from that hill were stunning.

Tears in eyes. Not only for the otherworldly beauty that surrounded you, and in a sense, us, but for those who lost their lives. Thanks Murray for this particularly special vid. Gorgeous shots, too 👋

Lovely video, Murray, reflective and respectful to the lives lost. My local hills (Peak District) have their sad share of crash sites, and it's always conflicting meeting tragedy in places of such beauty.

Fantastic views sad story but one sadly common on the hills of U.K. quite a few WW2 crash sites near me in Brecon Beacons but none as recent as 1990 very sad and well presented thanks

Thanks again Murray, lovely. I regularly saw Shackletons at home in Woodford, the Lancaster's were built at Avro, and also the Vulcan. if the finals doors were open I could see a row of Nimrods, air reconnaissance . All gone now, Houses.

Great video again Murray. What a sad tale of a terrible accident. I would really like to climb a few hills on Harris - and the west coast of Lewis too. I've visited a couple of times in the past with my late wife, but never hiked any hills due to her being disabled and me being her carer. Last year I came back to the Hebrides but only the Uists. I bagged a couple of Sub2k's North Lee and Eaval but also a smaller hill on Benbecula. I agree that even if they're not as high as the ones on the mainland the views from the summits are fantastic. BTW I came across another plane wreck on North Lee, one of many that occurred during and after WW2. In spite of the many visits we/I have so far never made it to Barra. I would like to visit sometime. ATB Karl from Denmark
PS: The Uists and Berneray have some nice beaches too, my favourite is the lagoon shaped beach across from the campsite at Balranald

I now have seen a lot more than I have seen when driving round whilst working. This island has a massive pull for my eldest daughter and partner. They know just about every inch of Harris. Murray - Maodal is a stunning hill with the panoramic 360 views and as you say, a hill with a sad story. The 1st people on the scene were locals from the village of Northton, you can imagine the scene they saw. For long enough the scars on the hill were still visible.
You seem to have enjoyed your excursion to Harris - there is so much more to see.
