Very clever! You are the first person to mention creating a lip to hide the carpet. I like that idea. Two things I would suggest you add somehow. One is to recommend a twist pile carpet, not loop, as the cat's claws can snag on loop and ravel the carpet. Not desirable. Second, and optional, I suggest the carpeting be secured with Velcro (hook and loop tape) so that, if necessary, the carpet can be removed for cleaning, or replaced at a future date. -- Well done! Thank you for posting. :)
I used nightstand drawers from old nightstands found in garage sales and other places , cleaned them up, painted them. Used a stud finder and attached the drawer with long screws to the stud.
@BenTardif well done! That's a big kitty! You should add seisal rope covered 2x4 between the window and the box on the right...he will fly up like crazy! Your cat and furniture will thank you. Quality seisal rope should hold up for at least a year.
Sweet idea, great video! I'm also very glad that none of the nails that shot into the wood didn't bounce of a knot or something else inside the wood and go into hit your other hand holding the wood.
Great inspiration! My wife and I are getting a Bengal and need lots of good jumping, climbing, and scratching places around our house. I'm looking to make some wall mounted shelves and scratching posts. These look great!
Looking great - you should make more of them so the cat can go over to the other small Window, but also a long one over the big window and down to a furniture 🙂 so called supercat highway (Jackson Galaxy )
What a great job, you are very talented and must love your wife very much to make it match with the cabinet you made. Love the floating box idea hoping to use it in my home soon. The video after yours was not as nice he used L brackets and made it look trashy.
Thank you for this, I love all your little hacks for getting everything just right! I know what everything is as my wood-shoppe in Santa Ana was well equipped I want this set up for my Garage! What dust system do you use? Very Professional! Liked and Subscribed!
Im curious whether the cat jumped on to the tv? Two more boxes over the telly would give puss the best spot to hang out while you are watching tv. Nice designed boxes.
This is a guy after my own heart. He loves his wife, kitty, and woodworking! Not only that, but he is talented and creative.
Me too xD
@@JuanPabloContrerasCI just checked out your cover of Rain- Vinnie Moore Guitar... So smooth like silk. You are a very, very talented man.
Ben, thank you for explaining clearly how to build these beautiful shelves.
Bravo

I love wood shop. it's so cool to watch your videos and I love them so much.
I love it! I would expand and put another set by the other window and connect the top shelves with a little bridge
Love the idea. And the cat! Good job :)
Ben. We’re spending too much time together. I can’t stop watching your videos. 😀

Great job. I'm going to use your design as the basis for a cat highway build I'm planning.
Good luck!
I love how the cat is watching at the beginning of the video.... LOL I was curious why boxes vs just shelves?
I love that he did it for his wife tho. So sweet!

Nice designed boxes.
How gonna put in all that work, then cheap out of adhesive for the carpet? Use some staples or nails
This is so helpful, thank you for sharing!! I'm about to try this out. Did you use two 5"x1"x8' boards and one 7"x1'X8'?
Just subscribed!
Where did you get the stud finder? Is that a Dewalt product and will it work on lathe and plaster walls?
Nice!
thanks.. nice
Clever 😸
How much for a set?
Very good video. Btw, why are they called floating?
❤️
Cat perch good, made of shelves that are easily reached by a cat to test the laws of gravity...bad.
