Water Cooling the Macbook 2015 - Increased performance or dead Macbook!?

  • I'll admit - this is NOT an advised way of cooling your Macbook 2015, and you should NOT try it at home... But does it provide a tangible performance benefit?

AAAAAAAND, the iTray is made out of plastic and made by some 7 year old chinese child and costs 50c to make and the iWater is a bit yellow because its actually Tim Cook's piss which costs 49c, how does it cost $899.99 you say? Well, they slap on an Apple Sticker, and that makes it $899.99 which means all the Apple Zombie Fanboys will buy it, which means that the Apple revenue will never go below 4 Billion DOLLAZ. Pure genius!

Safer way to do this. Just set the computer on top of a "chillow". Will do the same thing (It is also refrigerated) quite sane and safe as no fan I take or vents to be blocked. My friend recommended filling a four gallon ziplock bag with ice water, insert the MacBook and zip to seal contents to maximize thermal transfer. Place the entire assembly to the dumpster and walk away. Anyways, the chillow would work on a budget.

please do the same test again with the 3M Novec coolant.
You no longer have to protect the USB ports with silicone and the result should be better 🙂

I can't figure out where all the apple haters are coming from.
I get that this laptop won't be a match for any gaming-tower, but it's a laptop which weight LESS THAN A KILOGRAM. It isn't designed for gaming at home, it designed to be carried around all day.
And of course the first generation sucks, but first Macbook Air scuked the same way and now it's a standard for a ultrabook.

  • @jamessween

I would like to see more on cleaning your tower with no screwing around! The correct way. Do you need a special air compressor. and if you do where can you get one. The can thing just don't cut it.And do you have to watch out for important things not to get near.

Only Apple has customers that can be convinced into spending $1300 on a laptop that has a 1.1ghz Core M processor (that CAN turbo boost up to 2.4ghz for maybe 3 seconds every minute)when they could be getting an HP or Lenovo with a i3 6100u with better performance for less than half that price. Am I missing something here??

I'm not entirely sure about this, but, since it isn't water that conducts electricity, but the electrolytes disolved in it, it stands to reason, without considering many other factors, that using distilled water would be safer than normal water in case the sealing fails.

Not everything is specs, bud. Engineering a battery that can fit inside of a chassis that thin, having a unibody metal chassis, integrating the antennas directly into the chassis, putting some nice quality laptop speakers and screen, those things aren't cheap, and those areas are generally what Windows laptops cheap out on. You might not agree that it's a good 'value' (depending on what "value" is for you), but you don't have to hate the product and people who buy them.

    • @CheezeWuz

@@utubekullanicisi When did I ever say I hated the people that buy them?
I personally and my friend (Who is pro PC and spends thousands on parts) think Apple products look really good and I use one for work... it's a joke...
The Mac Book Air I use for work overheats constantly.
Don't assume I hate all things apple and the people for some reason.

I just set mine on a gel freezer pack that I keep in the fridge. Keeping it in the fridge vice the freezer means it’s quite cold, but still squishy, so it’s easier to balance the MacBook on.
But me going to my fridge, grabbing the freezer pack, walking back to my bed and plopping my laptop down on top of it would make for a much less entertaining video, for sure.
