Now not only do we see how to do it, you provided the source for the veneers to use. You have wonderful ideas to make videos of. I can’t tell you how many people throw away items damaged like this and could be saved. Leah is a gem!
Leah, you continue to teach this old dog new tricks. What a phenomenal repair. You are truly an Angel. Thank you so very much. Have a fantastic weekend.
This video gives me the confidence to buy a piece of furniture that needs a repair like this. I've passed up some really nice items at the Salvation Army store over the years because of veneer damage. Thanks! 👍

Leah, I've legitimately been able to learn and use your channel to take on home improvement projects on my first home. You are wonderful, thank you for all of these tips.
Wow Leah you have given me the confidence to say “I can indeed do it”. I’ve had a table for years I wanted to do, but was too reluctant of starting it because of trying to cut the veneer. I’m definitely going to try now. You slowly describing and then demonstrating each step was fantastic. Thank you so much 🙏😊🙏
Well, I never! That was awesome Leah! I have a couple of pieces at home that need repairing. Talk about show and tell. I never even thought about doing it like that!
I just stumbled across this while searching for ways to fix thrifted end tables. I’m very excited to try this, but it’s my first EVER foray into wood repair. Thank you for breaking it all down for us beginners!
Once again, a great video! I just happen to have an 1800's bureau I adopted from the dump that's gorgeous but has a big piece of veneer ripped off. Maybe it can be saved after all!
Leah, You're the best! I was just contemplating repairing an antique organ's veneer which was damaged in storage, and your video happened to pop up on my notifications!
You slowly pour lacquer to separate the veneer from the wood. Cut an oversized piece of veneer, then use contact cement to glue the new veneer on. Use a router with a bearing to trim the excess.
OK kids, First of all Leah is the frugal master of getting things fixed right the first time. We moved into our house in 1997. It was built by a fairly decent builder in 1967. The going trend at the time was not painted white interior doors, ours were luan, Philippine teak veneer stained a light pecan. Every door in the house was chipped out somewhere. I had to first find some matching donner veneer. Lucky day, a house being repaired after some storm damage was tossing out 3 of the same doors. Having the time to fix 18 doors took a while but the cost savings was over $3,000 for door blanks that would have to be stained to match the trim, hinged, planed and fit into existing door frames. Use the same basic method in this video and one step at a time you can do a lot more than you think. By the way, my wife loves the way her doors look now and the way her new kitchen counters and cherry cabinets (lots of them) look, the new bamboo floors and the crown molding, the bathroom counter/cabinet remod., the new tub/shower install, the new interlock floating kitchen floor etc..... The doors were just the beginning.
I am new to your Channel and I have watched a lot of videos on UA-cam and I have to say you are one of the best at taking people step by step with your instructions. The more I watch you the more I am impressed. Thank you
I don’t care which one of your videos I pick you always have the best absolute best advice and explanation of everything. That’s why I enjoy your videos so much
I have a red oak hollow core door that has a chunk of veneer that somehow broke off. I found the piece but I'll use your technique to locate the piece. Thanks, Leah!
It's amazing how you have changed my life Leah! I now just do things instead of immediately thinking I need someone else to do things for me. Thank you so much!!!!
Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial. The bench my girls sit on is starting to look worn because the veneer is coming off so it's great to know I can fix this. I assume you have written where you get the veneer samples from somewhere but I really just wanted to quickly say thank you for yet another helpful video.
Leah do you know that you're a God sent Angel to all of us subscribers who depend on you when we all might have some type of problem to fix something and here comes our superwoman Leah to the rescue . I just adore you for so much you have done for a number of us ,thank you with all my heart ❤️🙏✌️😎👌,🖐️👌💯
Leah, this video saved my butt at work the day after I watched it. Accidentally misplaced the mortises for door hinges, but luckily the door had to be cut down on its height, so from the cutoff piece I salvaged the veneer, then used your clever painter's tape method to make templates and fill my mistake. A flush-cut router bit, a dab of painter's caulk, and it was seamless! Thank you for sharing your invaluable skill-set, it's so very much appreciated!

Haha !! lovely work !! I trained as a furniture restorer and the trick with the tape is inspired !! Can't remember seeing it before !! Only thing I would do slightly differently would be to cut the edges of the original veneer with a straight edge before using the tape to make an even cleaner joint and I would of used traditional animal glue to stick the new piece down but that is not so much a thing with modern furniture I spose , in any case great work and thanks for the tip for an old codger like me !!! lol

Thank you for sharing this!!! I appreciate your time. Question, a "handyman"cut a chunk of wood out of my door. I don't know what kind of adhesive he used. Then, he put some scotch tape over it and left. That was almost 3 years ago and he never came back. So, I want to try fixing this myself. Great video Leah. I actually have some pieces of veneer that have chipped off & wasn't sure if wood glue would work well enuf. Still other areas needing veneer made the way you showed us. Now I feel confident enuf to fix the pieces.. Thank you! ❣❣
You have such an amazing channel, Leah, and such a calm down to earth teaching style. Thank you so much for all the wisdom I've gained from watching your videos.
Wow! Thank you! I'm so grateful to see someone actually restoring/repairing this rather than simply stripping it off and staining it (or worse - painting it). It never looks the same if you completely remove the veneer. I have a question: your missing bits looked very even. Did you cut away a little of the veneer first? I didn't see that as one of the steps, but usually when I've seen veneer damaged, it's split or splintered. I'll be looking forward to hearing the answer!
I wish I could meet you in person to thank you for all your helpful videos you made here, straight and concise.
