Leah turned a $20 table in 1 into a $200 table. That's why she's at 900k subscribers and soon to hit the 1 million club. Great tip and easy explanation on how to complete a task.
As soon as you started removing the old finish I knew you were right about the beauty hiding underneath! Thank you, not just for the invaluable pointers, but the product list, as well!
Beautiful job Ms. Leah! When you said Grandparents attic, I thought you were going to revisit how to tell the difference between shellac and polyurethane and not to ruin a proper antique 😂. I am always torn between Oldie’s and Kramer’s, I like both. I did pick up a small pine dining table years ago that neighbor’s had put out for trash pick up, they said the leg was broken and it couldn’t be fixed. I was going for the wood to repurpose, so it didn’t matter. The leg wasn’t broken, the angled brace board that it affixed to was cracked and the holes where the bolts went through were messed up, as well as a couple bent screws into the apron, I think someone was dancing on the table…a little glue, some patching and the table has been in service for many years in my shop.
First time homeowner and love this channel! I just refinished my grandpa's hand me down record cabinet. Looks great! Thanks Leah! One of my top 5 YT must watch channels.
Oooo, Leah is flipping furniture 😍! I have been on other channels for these tips. I am extatic that Jane is showing us the ways now. Thanks for not cutting corners Ma'am. So many people are just putting gel stain right over the previous factory finish. You put in the elbow grease and it shows!
saving discarded things and refinishing them is such a joy. My boys and I would be driving along and see something put out at the curb...I would slow down and it was such a habit for me to pick up and restore things that my sons would holler at me.."keep going, Ma" When houses are cleared out, the night before trash day, and thrift stores are the places to find these hidden treasures. I would refinish and reupholster if needed. My living situation has changed and I cannot do that anymore..but I sure do love it
Leah, where you a teacher in the past? Because this is my FAVORITE UA-cam shop class ❤️ you're like the cool aunt that everybody wishes they had growing up. By the way, beautiful work on those thrift store gems!
I really dig how you left the stretchers black underneath. The wood looks amazing and the black really contrasts with the legs. Very nice hidden gem you found!
Leah, what an excellent idea and that table turned out great. Beats the heck out of cardboard boxes in my very first apartment. Thank you again, love your videos.
What a fantastic hobby, and an amazing teacher! Your videos never fail to motivate me, and you knocked this one out of the park!! With a keen eye, some inexpensive materials, and a little bit of vision and elbow grease...you can end up with a stunning piece of furniture that is refreshed and ready for the next 100 years! Thanks Leah!!
In my youth I made the mistake of too aggressively stripping a piece of furniture that I didn't realize was veneer. The patch I did was smooth but I could always see it. It was a 50s era dresser that was stained green. It was funny that I ended up stripping the veneered surfaces and leaving the solid wood trim surfaces the original green stain. I had that piece for almost 40 years before I finally got rid of it. It was still a solid piece of furniture the day I sold it (before a move). And I'd gotten it for free in the first place, from family, just like you suggested.
Looks great! Definitely some tips I wish I had known when I started. I’ve refinished 2 dining tables so far. Absolutely love doing it and the finished product is always a nice reward!
i see that can of water putty in the background. AMAZING STUFF!!!! it does this that wood putty cannot do and its a very cheap and less toxic alternative to an epoxy.
Excellent walk-through! I'd forgotten how thin veneer is. The tack cloth is a pretty important part, unless you want a less-smooth, less shiny finish. It will have little bits of dust you can't see, but it will really show up when you put the coats of finish on.
Hi Leah! I found your channel from a Tik Tikor who said she watched your videos to help herself restore her Hurricane Harvey house. She is a single mom with kids and her home looks amazing. She said she learned to grout tile and she’d never done so in her life. I thought maybe I’d watch some of your videos and see what I can learn to do myself as well. I need to refinish my hard wood floors and I have a back deck that needs torn down and rebuilt. :)
Awesome job as always Leah. Wish I had the space for redoing furniture. Could use the extra cash it would bring in. I have a single car garage but it’s pretty full at the present.
Tack cloth is usually carefully folded so that it can be used for more than one pass so that the dusty/dirty portion is then kept away from the fresh tacky surface.
New home just closed n wondering if I can do this on my oak kitchen cabinets....or maybe a different video from Leah that I should look into if not. Got me a thinking more 🤔 Tks to our most prized revered renovation (and more) expert 👍Tks Gurl❣
What a lovely result! That's my personal favorite tone in finishes, so it's even prettier to me! Excellent job. Gives me hope for the antique family heirloom I'll be tackling come Spring (waiting for broken shoulder to heal). Thank you, Leah!
Nice job Leah. I haven't done an oil finish in years. Another good source of furniture is your local tip/dump. I've been collecting pieces very cheaply for a while now, as when I moved I didn't want to cart all of my furniture 700ks.

yep--Leah's got the goods!!
I love this show. Practical and everything is explained. Love the personality behind the show.
Thank you

As usual, logically organized, comprehensive, and comprehensible!
Leah is ALWAYS worth watching.
Thank you
Wow!!!! That was an amazing transformation Leah :)
Thanks Brent!
I’d have to go to the thrift store like you did. Refinishing is always a great way to keep something out of the landfill. Great video as always.
Wonderful project. Thank you for 8 minutes to think about something other than these crazy times!

Thank you Leah. What a beautiful finish on that old and ugly table you took home, great work, excellent instructions.

Great job Leah.....what an amazing transformation!!! I love that new life was given to an older piece of furniture!
Good to see you again Leah. There's a lot of good, well made furniture out there on the used market that needs a little fixing or refinishing.
So inspiring!
Whenever I see wood furniture I think… I wonder if I could figure out how to use that…?
So glad to see back, Leah! Have really missed you. Video and tips are excellent as always!
love the end result amazing. the color combo is beautiful. You got the Eye Of The Tiger Leah!
I really dig how you left the stretchers black underneath. The wood looks amazing and the black really contrasts with the legs. Very nice hidden gem you found!

Leah wow ty for going step by step in showing how to do this. Wow it looks amazing! 🙂
Never did I think it would turn out that pretty. What an unusual shape. I've not seen one built like that before.
It's made by Knoll and many of their pieces are in museums.
@@seejanedrill You were right then. It really was a hidden jewel. Thank you for the reply.

The table looks awesome. Thank you so much for your videos and clear instructions.
Great idea. My Moms attic is full of stuff she just wants gone. Some furniture, but even more so stuff that could be sold to pay for furniture.
Wow talk about the before and after.. Beautiful table👍❤
I love all these vids. She’s so pleasant to listen to.
Beautiful! First time I've heard of that Odie's oil. Looks like honey.
You are so awesome. Thank you Leah for another thoughtful well put together video. ❤
