Good evening Andy and Megan. Found your channel recently and now watch all of your videos. I am 75 and still cook all of our meals, cleaning, laundry. You have a lovely family.
I have a 16 pt streamliner canner that was my Dad's, 75 yrs old and still going strong! My other canner is 70 yrs old that my grandparents gave to my parents as a wedding present---both doing good!!!
That is SO true! It’s the seasoning of the pan or pot! If you’ve never had deer ribs smothered with squirrel with natural gravy over rice…you’re missing a treat! My great uncle will cook it in my great grandmother’s Dutch oven and it’s heavenly!
Watching on rerun hubby and I need nurse Megan. We have been battling the C . Because he's so bad with no spleen and over half pancreas. I tried to play nurse and got it. You both are so wonderful. Have a blessed weekend. Keeping you in our prayers. 🙏❤️🌟👍
We really are enjoying y'alls channel. We're in Alabama and have family out your way. It's so nice seeing y'all working together and teaching the kids. Everything looks so good and the land is absolutely beautiful. I do understand when you all talk about eating out. We've been cooking from home since lockdown and now we really don't like going out anymore. IT'S EXPENSIVE! And taste horrible..if it's not full of salt it's sugar. I believe it's great y'all are homeschooling. Really enjoy your content and family values. Thanks for sharing your lives with us....
My people on both sides left the Appalachians in the early 1800s and settled in the Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas. My Grandpa had his own nicknames for biscuits and gravy as well. The gravy was "lick-dob", and the biscuits were "belly paste". So, I was raised on "lick-dob and belly paste".
Yall are just precious ❤ WE have 10 acres in Texas but I'm over 60 now and bedridden with degenerate spine. We're Blessed with 2 sons. I just Love watching yalls videos 😊❤ Thank yall so much. GOD bless yall ❤😊
Easter evening, eating a Babe Ruth Candy Bar with True Grit. The Deer figured if they wanted dinner they would have plenty of company. Your Daddy knew his daughter well Megan. How wise you were. A complete lifestyle change is no joke. You had plenty of time to decide what you wanted. By your looks and seeing both of you with your children, you both made the right choice. Right, raised gardens need lots of water.
Small world isn’t it! Andy, your grandfather is right, but I don’t think you are working “lil girl” to death! I think she is doing just fine by herself! Megan, I say again, you are truly a blessing to me, I have always had a garden, but never preserved them. Just preserved some tomatoes 🍅 I am learning so much from you guys and I even planted a succession garden! 😂Where I hunt at for the past two years! The turkeys (hens) hunt me down and roost around me and I always have deer when they come😂❤🎉 I have several videos of them!! I think , they like that my drink is “wild turkey” 101 ! 🙃 Dude, my husband loves buttermilk biscuits with chocolate gravy ! But nothing better to me than the Chocolate Roll Pastry! Yes yes I have no idea how to use my pressure cooker I bought!! 😂😂❤❤
Hello i wanted to say Andy i enjoyed the conversation on corn growing and i enjoying you i didnt think you we're rambling anyway thanks for sharing your life with us 😅😅
Guys 1st great videos and I envy both of you for the lifestyle you live. Most of us city people only dream of it. Suggestions regarding your racoon and deer problem in your garden. We have a lot of hmong farmers here that have small.gardens at home and in city designated community gardens. I've seen motion lights set up with scarecrows that have flashing type Christmas lights on them that seem to work. My biggest problem has been rabbits and I plant marigolds around the garden = they hate the smell and stay away. Yes even here in the frozen north we have a lot of animal problems with gardens. Thanks for sharing your great lifestyle. Paul in st Paul Minnesota
This is going to sound a bit gross but, My dad and even those as far back as he could remember used human urine to deter pests like weasels, fox , raccoons etc. You either walk the perimeter and urinate on ground, shrubs surrounding the pen poultry is in or your corn crop you can also collect several days worth in a bucket and pour around enclosure or your fields You have to be diligent and reapply after rain, heavy dew etc. The smell of human urine makes them think humans are close so they stay away.
My mom and dad were raised on the same gravel road!!!! And they had been there since the 1800 ,,, during the home dtead act. I know what you mean!!!!! Love listening to you all ❤
I've found that you need to add peatmoss to raised beds in order for them to retain water. Peatmoss holds on to water much better than plain dirt or even garden soil.
What people are calling "chocolate gravy", we always called it "sopping chocolate"!!! I'm in a small community close to Greenville, NC. called Chocowinity. 18 miles east of Greenville.
The problem with the camera is lens flare caused by the bright window directly above your head. That is, very bright light hitting the camera lens directly.
Megan, I just found your channel tonight. I don’t know much about y’all yet but I have subbed. I heard a bit of info that caught my attention. I’m an older lady with a variety of health problems…one major problem is recurring UTI’s. They are lasting a month at a time. The last one required 5 consecutive injections at the Drs office because oral antibiotics were not touching it. I have learned the seriousness of UTI’s esp for us oldies, even can cause mental confusion and/or fatal. I heard you say something that was beneficial for UTI’s. I’m in the Appalachian s but not up in the mountains so there’s so much I’m not aware of. Do you recall what you said was good for these infections? In listening to it again I still couldn’t catch exactly what you said. I’m pretty desperate and even though this is an older video, I would appreciate any info you can enlighten me with. God bless your family and I look forward to getting to know your family. I was born and raised in NE Tennessee just over the SW VA state line. Kingsport, TN. You too have great personalities! ❤️❤️
what about guardian dogs to keep deers and critters away? yes , I know ... another mouth or 2 to feed , but guardian dogs are nocturnal , Pyrenees and anatolians they will keep deers away , not sure about racoons , but as a bonus they`ll protect all your animals and keep other predators off your land
Raccoons possess saliva glands that produce saliva crucial for the initial stages of digestion. The enzymes present in saliva help break down food particles, aiding in the digestive process before reaching the stomach.
The purpose of washing or wetting their food is not to lubricate the food for easy swallowing but rather is a fascinating behavior exhibited by raccoons that has puzzled observers. Contrary to the common belief that it is linked to their ability to produce saliva, this behavior is thought to serve multiple purposes. Raccoons may wet their food as this action could enhance tactile sensation and improve digestibility by softening certain food items
Did u make a video doing a tutorial on your canned slaw. I was looking for it the other day but the only thing that came up was your chow chow. Id love to try it. I only eat my own slaw, cant get myself to eat store bought or restaraunt 😂
Just subscribed a few days ago, so I'm playing catch up on your videos. I enjoyed learning more about all of you. Megan you mentioned you are a Rogers. I have first cousins in Heard Co. Georgia with the last name Rogers. Is your family named spelled in the same way, or is your Rodgers? Just wondering. I need to find out where uncles my people are from. You maybe kin to them.
I'M SO GLAD TO HAVE FOUND YOU. WHAT A BLESSING I LOVE TO WATCH EVERYTHING YOU DO ,BUT WHAT IS YOUR HUSBAND'S MANE AND THE CHILDREN. I AM NOT UNDERSTANDING THE NAMES LOVE YOU AND THANKS

I always miss your lives. Canning tomatoes myself. Try frying some of the Hickory King corn with some onion. It is delicious!
I’ll definitely give it a try!
I think the best tomato I've ever had was Marion. They are delicious. They're great for a sandwich, and I think they are a really good canning tomato.
Bobsop is milk gravy❤

You should try the over the counter UTI meds, they are red pills and work great.
