- It is a wonderful thing to see Maurice Gibb sing lead. All three of the Gibbs tried their hand at singing "First Of May", though it was originally intended for Robin. This is my personal second favorite version, put as two only by Robin's heavenly version, all three versions have something special about them, But Maurice puts some of his signature "Maurice magic" into this 2002 live performance, with ex wife and forever friend Lulu. A soft and somewhat sad melody, is a very appropriate tone, for a song about reminiscing about time past and pined for. Watch Maurice shine bright beautifully, as he sings this Bee Gees classic.
Thank you Lindsey...for making me cry 😅. This performance takes my breath away again and again. I have never heard Robin sing this bittersweet song before so I have no comparison to Maurice and Lulu. I have only seen Barry sing sing it several times. This performance is by far my absolute favorite that I have heard. Did you notice how cute it was that Lulu asked him if he had learned the song she had sent him? Lol, how adorable his brilliant smile as he sweetly answered "yes I did". He, Robin and Barry had written that song and she knew they had because they were engaged or married at that time 😁. When Mo sings this to Lulu it touches my heart unbelievably. It wraps itself around my heart and through my whole being and melts it. Mo's voice is so rich and smooth, oh and so very sensual 🤤😍. Then you add in the words they are singing to each other along with the beautiful melody and it all makes me just want to weep. Then you see the date of this show. I don't recall the month, but I believe it was either July 2002 or November 2002. That means this was within 6 months of when wonderful Maurice left us. Thank you so much for sharing this gorgeous meaningful treasure with us.
It is my honor to share such a precious moment of Maurice, his voice reaches my heart so instantly and deeply with this performance. This beautiful song, with Maurice's enchanting and beautiful voice, brings me to tears as well, every time I hear him sing this emotional and tender love song. Maurice's charm and cute and funny cleverness, makes me smile. Maurice is such a heartwarming and darling man, and to see him is always a treasure. @@RobinGibbAngel thank you for your beautiful words too about precious Mo. Just before I came here I was listening to a heartbreaking 💔😥interview with Robin on an English show with a man named Kelly. It was the year that Mo passed away and poor sweet Robin 😭 💔 . He really took Mo's death hard. I have heard several interviews where Robin talks about it and I just want reach out and hug and comfort him. They were extremely close. I even read that at the end of Robin's life, his kids and Dwina said that he kept talking about how he wished that he had Maurice with him. I can't believe that after all these years I still cry so hard and hurt so much about this wonderful set of twins. I guess because they will always be in my mind and my heart.
@@kathleendewey5347 I feel the exact same way, about everything that you said. I wish I could comfort sweet Robin whenever I see his heartache over losing his adored Twin, our beloved Maurice. And it hurts the same today as it did when we first had lost them. I love them Kathleen, and miss them, and wish they were still here every single day. But they will forever stay in our hearts and in our lives, they will be eternally precious and adored by us, and they can never truly leave us, so long as we remember and cherish them. They are total gems 💎 💎 and always alive in our 💕 They truly are remarkable and their hearts poured out in loving spectacular music to treasure always. Sorry that I was so emotional in my last post. I had just finished watching like 3 or 4 interviews in a row where my heart was just wrecked hearing gorgeous Robin's pain.

They sung this song so beautifully. Maurice had a wonderful voice. Wish he sung solo more. So sad when he died so young. I think they still loved each other.

Maurice, Really did have a Great Voice. I wish that we could of heard more from Maurice. And I think that it was Great that Maurice and LuLu stayed Friend's all them Year's.

What a great voice he had and you never really get to hear it when the brothers sang together, just a bit here and there. It's so deep and rich, too bad there is not more of it to listen to.
Maurice has such a fabulous voice, I plan to keep posting songs on which he sang lead, and I hope you stayed tuned. there is never enough Gibb music, but there might end up being more Maurice songs then you think.❤
