Thank you so much for this. I got the Gotoh set that most resembles the originals, silver with black buttons. You did all the research and I’m very grateful.
Strange, I didn't thing that tuners can change the tune. At least to actually tell the difference. I don't doubt you just never thought of it. And believe me I thought I had all the corners covered. I myself am not going to change anything on my P.R.S. I've had many guitars and a few times I modified something things became worse. Not always but sometimes. Glad it worked out for you, and they are pleasing. Good job.
I have a 2020 PRS SE Pauls guitar and there is WAY too much play in the tuners. One in particular on the G string position is very bad. I will be changing the tuners, the rest of the guitar is excellent.
I have that same guitar, same colour. I put Hipshot Open Back Locking Tuners on it. Looks and feels great! But: i had to ream the tuner holes and the screws did only went half way inside, 'cause the original screwholes are too close to the new ones, so the "in between wall" might have broken using more pressure and drilling deeper. But its ok.
@@8skep1productions same here. Hipshot tuners were recommended for Pauls guitar on Amazon so I bought them not knowing the dimension because thy are not listed on Amazon. Bad move... I will be returning them although they look and fell very solid. Sorry not reaming out my PRS and I do not like the included brackets that must be used.
I have looked for the exact part number you show on the box the tuners came in and I cannot find these black tuners. Can you provide a link or tell me where you bought them?
I really appreciate the video man. I feel the same about the high end on the tone. In your opinion do you feel these are a better option over the PRS brand?
Unfortunately they are 1:15 ratio which is a bit of a downgrade. Paul Reed Smith is very definite about the original tuners were specifically designed for the Guitar Pit that PRS themselves don't offer a set of locking Tuners.
Tuners change tone ? Wow , in 50 years of guitar playing and modifying i have NEVER heard that ! BS ! The weight difference can't be more than a few grams. Maybe a spectrum analysis could see a difference , but your ears ? C'mon man. A Fat Finger increases sustain , but is HEAVY! and I have never heard a serious tone claim in any advertising or comments. Sure, you like the look better , easier string changes , sure . I believe you suffer from Cadillac/Mercedes syndrome . And pressing with Channel Locks ? Suggest a C-clamp and wood blocks or a drill press with blocks as an alternative .

Thank you sir! These are the informations I was looking for. I have already ordered mine gotoh tuners set (gold) (PRS SE Sunburst)
Thanks for this; been looking for the right pegs for mine:-

Thank you sir! Going to get these for the one I have...
just bought the same Gotoh tuners and having issues pressing the ferrules into place

That is exactly why I avoided the hipshot tuners. I didn't want to alter the guitar at all
@@8skep1productions but they look and function great!
I got the locking tuners but i cant get the nut off with a 10mm driver. Theyre like completely rounded

Bit late to the party but may i ask where you got the black version of these ? can't find them anywhere...Thanks..

Search eBay and you should find them unless maybe they were discontinued or something
Thanks for the info. I agree the original tuners feel cheap.

Yes in my opinion this is a definite upgrade to the stock tuners.

The ratio is fine....not ideal but definitely satisfactory
@@8skep1productions But a downgrade.
@@grimreaper-qh2zn no not a downgrade. A downgrade to you but not really to anyone else
@@8skep1productions So a downgrade. It us only me that matters to me.
I just watched PRS' video for installing their locking tuners. Guy says the brass posts improve tone and sustain. Hmm.
Where did you buy it?
They can be found on ebay or other online resources

Thanks for the great comments. I appreciate the old guys perspective even tho it doesn't help much or actually makes me less smart.
tuners do not change tone of guitar unless its out of tune because of the tuners, LOL. Even the nut only affects tone on the open strings.
